@BEANO266 The Iraq Revolutionary Guard had T-72s. Even the Bradley took several of them out. The Abrams during the Gulf War was not as advanced as the one today. The T-90 is merely a slight improvement on the T-72. I hate to tell you but the US, British, French and German main battle tanks are far superior to the T-90. It's all academic, we will never fight a war. If anything we will fight together. I consider the Chinese a slight problem for us all.
@tdfisk I would agree. The old Soviet philosophy; quantity not quality can be seen in the T-90. It's a great tank, but the M1A2 SEP Abrams, Challenger II, and the Leopard II are far more advanced.

I don't know if you knew this, but the Soviet Union lasted up till 1991. It went from 1922-1991. So I don't know where the idea of you saying I was thinking about WWII is relevant. The idea of quantity over quality lasted up till then. T-55 > T-72 > T-80

But T-55 was made in 1948, T-72 was made in 1960s T-80 was clearly a tanks of quality anyway, those Soviet tanks where 10 years ahead of it's time when they where first made, it's technology surpassed everything NATO and US had. Of course 20 years later when they faced combat they where outdated scrap and Soviet Union already had a new tank.

This was their idea of tank development. Soviet tanks where spec loaded with tech yet they where simple and easy to produce compared to their counterparts that was advanced and hard to produce and many flaws. T-80 is an advanced tanks that's why it had so many flaws simplicity is the best way to go

So shut it, a true T-72M could blow holes in Abrams anyday, T-90 is not just improved it's a modernized T-72BU with way better armor and a bigger engine and more tech. T-90 is a simple tanks yet powerful and it's made a balance between Quality and Balance.
T-90 has so far outperformed Abrams and Challenger in every way. Those are facts

This ship would be a handful for any western surface ship.

As an American, I do admit that - 099 - Kirov Class "Battlecruiser" Pyotr Velikiy is an extraordinary machine. Her lines are simply amazing and are only outdone by her "punch". But depending of how you view it, the day of the capital ships are numbered, maybe in 25 years, maybe 50...or less, but ultimately numbered.
If you study navel history for more than 10 mins, you will realize that battleships have been the biggest waste of time, money, effort,fuel and sailors than anything else on the 7 seas. Is this another one?

@dimwitsixtytwelve Well I know now that they are a really bad band with rubbish fans but I have a wide interest in music, so some new bands should be given a chance, in general US bands are hyped up for good reason in different genres in England because they are of good quality (Evenesence was not my kind of music) - look at Kings of Leon - a lot of folks say they are old hat but I still think they are brilliant musicians. English band though are still music's dominant force.

@BEANO266 The Iraq Revolutionary Guard had T-72s. Even the Bradley took several of them out. The Abrams during the Gulf War was not as advanced as the one today. The T-90 is merely a slight improvement on the T-72. I hate to tell you but the US, British, French and German main battle tanks are far superior to the T-90. It's all academic, we will never fight a war. If anything we will fight together. I consider the Chinese a slight problem for us all.

@tdfisk I would agree. The old Soviet philosophy; quantity not quality can be seen in the T-90. It's a great tank, but the M1A2 SEP Abrams, Challenger II, and the Leopard II are far more advanced.

Soviet did not have a choise in WWII but to relay on mass production to beat the Germans. However T-44 proved to be superior to any German tanks, T-54 was superior to anything the allies had until the M60 Patton came but even then T-64 was out on the battlefield. Soviet tanks always been superior

I don't know if you knew this, but the Soviet Union lasted up till 1991. It went from 1922-1991. So I don't know where the idea of you saying I was thinking about WWII is relevant. The idea of quantity over quality lasted up till then. T-55 > T-72 > T-80

But T-55 was made in 1948, T-72 was made in 1960s T-80 was clearly a tanks of quality anyway, those Soviet tanks where 10 years ahead of it's time when they where first made, it's technology surpassed everything NATO and US had. Of course 20 years later when they faced combat they where outdated scrap and Soviet Union already had a new tank.

This was their idea of tank development. Soviet tanks where spec loaded with tech yet they where simple and easy to produce compared to their counterparts that was advanced and hard to produce and many flaws. T-80 is an advanced tanks that's why it had so many flaws simplicity is the best way to go

@tdfisk Sorry to tell you but T-72 had their firecontrols stripped out and besides most of the T-72 where custom built Lion of Babylion tanks. So shut it, a true T-72M could blow holes in Abrams anyday, T-90 is not just improved it's a modernized T-72BU with way better armor and a bigger engine and more tech. T-90 is a simple tanks yet powerful and it's made a balance between Quality and Balance.
T-90 has so far outperformed Abrams and Challenger in every way. Those are facts

The Kirov is still a very impressive ship. It's a battlecruiser with an enormous battery of very large supersonic anti ship missiles, and a great many anti-aircraft missiles of several times. For close in defense, it has a combined gun/missile system. It's two twin 130 mm automatic gun turrets can be used for AA or AS work, but they are a secondary armament. This ship would be a handful for any western surface ship.

I saw the soviet navy first hand, knew the classified intelligence on their weapons and sensors systems. In a naval war that is integrated it is useless to compare system to system. During the cold war the soviet Navy was at it's peak, and even during that time they were far behind us in technology, tactics, and sustained open ocean ops.

if I were you I would not be so self-confident and contemptuous to Russians and foreigners... your young country was found by immigrants, it exists and is developing thanks to imported brains including Russian brains... and Sergey Brin is only one example... without immigrants you guys were nothing... but situation is changing and USA is not so attractive anymore for high qualified immigrants.. your government predicts serious debts of specialists in the nearest future...
