  • Great song, Marc Almond does a fantastic version.

  • I just found a copy of this old Record after pillaging through a stack of old 78s at my local Salvation Army store. What a great song it is. Mine say's "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" and the dog and sound machine are in color. I guess orthophonic is supposed to be an improvement but who knows. Yea Eartha Kitt was fargin' awesome.

  • Kool, I see the reject mechanism is working on this rec player! What seems remarkable to me is that the metal spindle in the center is moving back and forth with the improperly centered record.. usually these metal pieces are firmly anchored to the bottom! What type of record player is this, by the way?

  • You know I find it funny you noticed the spindle moving because I don't really understand it either. LOL. This is an odd machine that I can't properly date but I'm thinking it's from the 1930s. I'll make a vid here and show it too you.

  • No, it shows a pretty common type of 33-1/3 rpm player from the 1950s. This was the upscale form, that permitted loading several records for continuous play.

Whether this song was ever released on 33-1/3 is uncertain. I bought it as a 45 rpm, but you can't expect these presentations to be more than symbolically accurate.
