Why can't they release an exact port of this game onto a console that still exists!? I kind of like the fog effect and the actual 3d special stages I see here.
this remake should happen along with fog and rain happening when you get to the top of the level . this in full 3d remake would make a dream come life
Having a big imagination comes with being a kid. This games plus Richard Jacques music seemed to do an excellent job with expanding my imagination. Great game.
This game is awsome, how can it possibly have a bad reputation? The music is excellent, the graphics are just superb, even for todays standard, the levels are huge and fun to explore, the controls are actually pretty good, the boss levels are some of THE BEST in the entire Sonic games. I really don´t get it.
Man I would have shit my pants if I had this game while it was new. Unfortunately, I never got a Sega Saturn. I had this game for the Sega Genesis, but by the looks of it, it wasn't as good as the Saturn version.
Wow the rain and mist add such a cool element to this game. The this song is excellent in this zone and relaxing, you can't top the original Rusty ruin zone music, that was so original and catchy.
But a continuation of 3D graphics should have been followed up after 3D Blast, with a little bit of modifying, Sonic shouldn't look all googly during halfway at the checkpoint in the special stage when camera zooms in to his face, looks cute though lol, but they really could've done so much more if they had continued & Sonic wouldn't be in the hands of Nintendo or shared with PlayStation(that game just didn't do any justice)Sonic doesn't carry a gun, why would he when he's got Knuckles & Tails?
@juanacious lol I thought the very same thing, this is the first time I'm seeing this, I had the Genesis version; but listening to the music just blew me away, and the rain that was falling with the mist, wow, I honestly wish SEGA hadn't gone down the road it did, if only they'd kept going with Sonic in this direction or waited for the right moment to release their 3D version of technology, man I'm telling you, SEGA would've had a wicked platform by now & Sonic would still be on top.
@NYTOC yep yep...i heard somewhere that the saturn never really used its 2 proccessors and only used one of em, so it had much more potential!! Sonic 3d was/is an awesome game with a good soundtrack and graphics...I miss my saturn i sold along time ago, but there are still some on ebay for decent prices =D
@juanacious You know I honestly don't think I've seen another or any other from any system including todays consoles have such depth, trait and character as well as emotion in their themes, or soundtrack and visual graphics like weather as I am seeing in this game let alone each Rusty Ruin Acts(1-3). There should have been a Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Return To Floating Island or something. or just..Sonic The Hedgehog 4, sounds bold enough just looking at it lol.
This very good, no doubt this version seems better than the Mega Drive xD, gives me grace when Sonic takes those fans or not they are and start spinning xD, is very good
If only Sega had taken focus of Sonic Xtreme (which was cool looking anyways) and Sonic R (I love it actually) they could have used these 3D special stages and the 3D stage in Sonic as a basis for an epic Saturn Sonic game.. Thanks for posting this gem though.

Cool looking game, but always felt they should have made a 2D version of Sonic for the Saturn. It was an incredible 2D machine

Is it just me or does this version seem scarier than the other one?

your capture card is kinda low in capturing this even with shield . i sometimes see every capture card capturing saturn games unimpressive

Is this better to play with the saturn's analog controller or the regular controller with the dpad?
Shroombot92 6 months ago
@Shroombot92 I played it using the analog controller.
