hmm very different from mine, i dont play scars, but my marines are white...well sort of. i work up from black undercoat, and my guys are a very very light grey highlighted white, but i weather my guys with real rust and real graphite for metal etc. so thanks for this new methode, maybe ill try it for stuff thatsd not weathered.
lol great background music what a wonderful world it is lol, how much fun is it having your kid involved in the same game as you i want to get my step-kids into it and when she is old enough i want to get my daughter into 40k

Apparantly there is a product that applies the black lining once the model has painted.
Once you have painted the model, you dip it into the tin this product comes in, and the liquid runs into all the cracks and details and dries up, giving you the black lining, it also give the model a weathered effect. But i don't know what the product is called though.=(
Anyway nice painting, much better than my white scars!
@Kundutei Army painter dip is awsome you can ether paint it on or dip it. Dipping you have to shake the model to get the extra wash out of the details. And to paintit you simply paint it on like a wash or ink. but you have to use terpitine to clean your brush..
@Kundutei its called Army Painter "Quickshade". It's really easy and really fast it and looks pretty well. On a scale 1-10 1=bare metal 4=basic tabletop quality 6=high standard tabletop 8=competition 10= unattainable, then Quickshade=5. a little better than basic tabletop quality. If anyone whos not interested in painting competition minis, this is for you.
a quick way to do white (using GW color names) is to prime white, use space wolves grey as a basecoat and then skull white over that... if the final layer of white is diluted slightly (say 80% paint) you can get a cool marbling effect which is appropriate for the blood angels wings (for example)
Excellent painting! I've made up a Black Templars successor chapter, the White Templars (creative, huh? lol), and the part on painting white and inking black has helped immensely!
U R SO GOOD! I got the assult on black reach set cause im new to wargaming and my friend said i should paint ultra marines but i didnt realy like them so i here and u inspered me ! although i suck at painting them
im laughing my fing ass off a couple monthes ago i was looking everywere for a tut an painting wight scars now i finish my army a diffrent sceme so now i find one when im not looking
Hey, I am new to 40k not to tabletop though...(been playing the LotR version) now I bought assault on black reach, and wanted to paint my SMs in an altered white scars style. I wanted to halve them, left side white with red details, right side red with white details. Now I found, that it's hard to get a decent dark red on a white foundation, so I was wonderin if it's practical to split the foundation into black and white?
The way I'd go about doing this is to use a white primer (preferably spray) over the entire model. For the red parts I'd suggest using 'Mechrite Red' from the GW foundation paint range. Maybe mix a little blood red or scab red in with it. Another trick you could try is to give the red parts a couple of thin coats of red and then wash them with red ink. The old Gw inks work best for this, if you don't have any you can check out art supply shops.
For lenses in the helmet I use blood red, a line of orange on the bottom rim and a spot of white in the outside corner. For bare headed marines the easiest way is to paint the eye black or dark brown, then put in a line of white and finally a spot of black. Hope that's some help!
Interesting choice of chapter, the Death Spectres are fairly obscure. Very little is actually known about them. I've seen them done in a couple of different colour shemes. although black with a white shoulder pad seems to be the way most people paint them, I have seen them done in purple too! The best advice I give most people is to keep your paint thinned down, never use it straight out of the pot. It's better to do a few thin coats than one thick, lumpy one.
I only did this one because I collect White Scars but the technique for painting Space Wolves wouldn't be that different. You would need a darker grey for your basecoat, probably Fenris Grey if you use GW foundation paints. Then just work it up to Space Wolves Grey and then add a little white to highlight the high edges of the armour.
hey what is better to use black or white spray paint? because i am painting high elves so what would be better? and for the future what is the difference between them. :) cheers
Generally, if your main base colour is going to be light then use white , if it is going to be a dark colour use black.

It all really depends what kind of effect you're going for. Personally i would use a white primer for the High Elves to give their colours more vibrancy.
It's a real pain to paint white over black! If you really can't be persuaded to get a white undercoat, then use a 50:50 mix of Space Wolves Grey and skull white as a basecoat and paint large highlights of white over that. Keep your paint thin and apply a few coats to get a good finish.
The marines from AOBR are a perfect start to any army. Hope it goes well!
use a fine detail brush, or go to an art shop and get a really small one. Best thing to do is paint the black lining first, before you start painting the base colours, straight onto the undercoat. That way if you do make a mess it's easy to cover it over with the subsequent layers of paint you will be adding.
Best advice I can give is don't use black primer- Get a white one. You'll end up making a lot of work for yourself trying to paint white over a black undercoat.
No, GW changed them for the washes but you can still get ink from art supply shops. There are probably a few places online that still have Citadel Colour inks in stock too.
amazing tutorial but it easier to use black ink instead of chaos black when doing the script on the purity seals. it flows easier so you get a finer coverege but thinned down chaos black will do fine too. once again amazing tutorial
"What a Wonderful World" is a song by Bob Thiele (using the pseudonym George Douglas) and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released as a single in 1968, and was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. This version is performed by Ministry and appears on their 2008 cover album 'Cover Up'.

If you really want a good primer job then use a airbrush because those things are the bomb at priming W40k minis.
