I have btw been cooling GTC as you have outlined for a few years now, and have been unable to solve the lack of crispy problem. You seem like a smart guy, If you find out what their little secrete is please share it with me.
The Sauce I give you an A, The batter, as outlined I give you an F, General Tso's Chicken is supposed to be Crispy, not Soggy. While you get an overall passing grade, the reason why you get an F in my grade book, is because when you add the chicken to the sauce, as it thickens, it turns the chicken soggy. I have been unable to solve this problem, and it remains a secret.
@roger5845 insted try marinating the chicken in soy sause for 10 min and then... put 3 bowls each with seperate ingredeant. four, egg, corn starch/corn flour. it will give it the crispy. =0
@roger5845 vahchef here on YouTube has a great General Tso's recipe! he gives you the answer to the secret of the batter- it is beaten egg, soysauce and cornstarch all mixed together, this is what you dip the chicken in before frying, then you can finish the sauce to completion first and THEN at final stage, add the fried chicken in, this will keep the chicken crisp.

@roger5845 There is no secret to keeping the chicken crispy.....thicken your sauce first before you add your chicken. My chicken ALWAYS comes out crispy and absolutely delicious!
