  • great, extremely helpful thank you

  • Very helpful!

  • Thank u very much! Very good explanation:-)

  • Thank you so much I greatly appreciate it for my biochem final =D

  • thanks!

  • that was such a great way to explain it! thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you, clever man with loud chalk. :) I've got a 2nd year gene regulation exam tomorrow and this was really helpful.

  • @OlyGian I need to stick with the whiteboard, I guess. Not so noisy.

  • great mini-lecture, I say you could definitely have an online lecture market. Don't know if you have the time. Way to be!

  • Thank you soooooo much. Excellent lecture!

  • I am at a top UK university, if only ONE of my lectures was like your's......I hate my uni for that, what shitty professors, really they should wake up and get fired because of their stupid lectures

  • thank you so much!

  • dude, you should make an entire series of these and sell them to idiots like me =P thanks tho, fast, informative, and means that in the five hours till start of final i dont need to read about pre-initiation complex formation =D peace

  • The preinitiation complex is analogous to the positive control of gene expression in prokaryotes. In bacteria and archaeans, positive control occurs when a protein binds to the operator to allow transcription of that gene. if it is absent, the rna polymerase cannot transcribe that gene. This is similar in eukaryotes. initiation of transcription depends on the assembly of the preinitiation complex

  • very well done

  • Note: this applies to genes with promoters containing TATA boxes -- a minority of eukaryotic genes.

  • this is too helpful! this is what i need! a more detailed explanation on attenuations and pre initiation complex... hope to see more molecular biology videos from you!

    cheers
