@Scorinitron Ok so basically, this operation is called the batista procedure. They took away a part of the left ventricle of the heart. This is because the actual muscle of that part of the heart has been stretched too much. And when something stretches, it gets weaker and it gets bigger. So, since it got bigger, the contraction of the heart isn't as strong. Basically, they take away a chunk because there is too much muscle that isn't strong anymore. Hope I helped.

Also, in the 3 years that they used this procedure, only 74% of the time, something went wrong. Also, only 60% of the people this has been preformed on have survived.
