Same goes for the GT500. They've used the same engine for a long time, now with the ZL1, the GT500 is finally getting an upgrade.

  • @chinchillawrangler your retarded. hp/L means nothing. its all about hp/weight and size. there is a reason why chevy sells the most crate engines, engines are lightweight, reliable, easy to get more power out of, and compact. the 5.0 is a good engine, and weighs about 450lbs.

  • I didn't like the mustangs till i got my facts right:

    Ford's 5.0 liter - 412 hp - 30k$  FASTEST

    Chevy's 6.2 - 425 hp - 35k$ FASTER

    Dodge's - 6.1- 420 hp- 42k$ FAST

    I mean why would i pay more for a slower car that wastes more gas and handles worse?....

    Looks are discussible but bang for buck is very apparently Mustang NO Matter what you say...

Maybe even a subaru wrx sti or mitsubishi evo who knows maybe you will like them better... Don't be biased like most of the guys here every country made good cars one year or another ( For example 1980's was a great year for german cars and 90's went super for japanese and 70's for americans ) just test drive and decide yourself...

  • @katanamast279 If you live anywhere where there's snow, get the STi. If you live in a place where it hardly snows at all, and all-weather control isn't a huge priority, get a Mustang. And prepare to spend lots of money on tires.

    At least that's what I would do.

  • @Shorty111R The mustang is perfectly fine in the snow. If you live in a major community plowed relatively well you would be fine even with the stock all seasons. Just use learn the car well enough.

    In more rural areas - snow tires would be your friend.

  • The funnest thing about the 2011 Mustangs, which are GREAT cars. I went to my local dealership to test one out, and I'm in it feeling it out,take it on US-23 get it going then get back go to get out and I realize that the door handle is the same handle in my wifes 2004 Mercury Sable. The chrome handle, its just so odd.

    Motor Trend and other reputable car magazines test this car, and got 13's flat in the 1/4 mile.

    I would believe them before I would believe this other website.

"Owned" isn't the term for a car that runs about the same 1/4 mile time as its competitor. This is why I don't think you're an adult.

The GTs is higher because of a better power to weight ratio.

The best for stock 392 is 12.3...you would know this site well if you actually ever drag raced. The "392Drags" video was taken on NOV 10, 2010 of Dodge doing thier official test and tune for Infineon, where each ran from 12.44-12.67, with the average 12.44.

  • @SOFSoldier1 I'll explain again. Trap speed is affected by power to weight. The Challenger and GT clock close to the same trap speed. Meaning the 470 HP the SRT8 makes is just enough to match the GTs HP to weight ratio. Since they have the same power to weight ratio the car with more optimal gearing and traction should win. So the question is why doesn't the Challenger win? If it's so much better it wouldn't ever post slower times than the GT. But as you and I know so well it does ..... A lot.

  • @331Grabber really? The Challenger ETs (official 1/4 mi ratings) are higher because the 392 is putting out anywhwere from 422-432 RWHP stock-which means its actually putting out 508-532 Flywheel. (15-20% drivetrain loss)

  • @SOFSoldier1 Yes really. The BOSS 302 puts out around 480 at the flywheel. That's why it only makes 16 HP less at the wheels but weighs 700 LBS less. Like I said better power to weight ratio.

    SRT8 4200 LBS with 432 RWHP = 9.7 LBS per HP.

    Mustang GT 3600 LBS with 370 RWHP = 9.7 LBS per HP.

    BOSS 302 3600 LBS with 416 RWHP = 8.65 LBS per HP.

  • @legendaryspartan92 The auto reviewers also have different rules between them. Like Car and Driver leaves the traction control on during tests. I believe Motor Trend and Road & Track turn it off. I don't remember seeing the auto Camaro run 0-60 faster then the manual. But I admit haven't been paying attention to the auto trans cars. I know it is at a big 26 HP and around 90 LB disadvantage against the 6-Speed Camaro.

  • @SkatePlanBProLite You're right it's based on the 4.6, but they changed a lot more than just the headers. That's like saying the 4.0L Cologne V6 that was in the 2010 V6 is the same as the 1.8L version they used back in the 70's. They've changed enough that they can call it "all new". Notice that a lot of car commercials will say "all new" whether it's true or not. That's because there have been substantial changes that led to that being said.

    Its funny how how are trying to argue how much better a Challenger 392 Hemi is than the mustang 5.0 because you fail to consider that the 5.0 is 14 thousand dollars cheaper than the Challenger! A 2011 GT500 is almost the same price as your Challenger and is in fact faster according to Inside Line. In case you want to know the GT500 beat your challenger by 2 tenths of a second 3.9 mph on the 1/4 mile! If you want to compare apples to apples the mustang is better! LOOK IT UP!
