Nothing predestinated any part of the world to be under the supreme control of any political entity in particular. It's all an artificial construction (through politics, history, conquests and so on)
You british have the right to say STOP. You don't have the euro, and you don't want deeper political integration. Fair enough that's your choice and I can only but respect it.

The EU flag and anthem were never officially acknowledged! The basis for the EU in 1951 was cooperation between France and Germany to control German production of Coal and Steel to critical element to rebuilding a strong military.
The idea was to make sure Germany could never again be a military threat ,it saw the rise of anti patriotism and multiculturalism with the (many) consequences we know today.

The military being sent is a fair argument, however take a look at New Zealand, we're small, part of the commonwealth, but no one really gives a toss about us. Having a seat on the EU won't benefit, you. They're almost as useless as the United Nations(Who are run by a bunch of political rejects whose countries don't want them).
