I really love your idea with the dark blue/purple lights, it gives your village a gorgeous Christmas night feel that I had never actually seen represented so well before. I will definitely be stealing that little solution of yours, hope you don't mind :)
Looking forward to your 2011 layout!
P.S.: Three cheers for On30 in Christmas village layouts! :)
Yowza. Between the hi-def and that cool lighting, this model looks earily Real. Thanks for the hint on the blue paint. Wonder if those "moon" bulbs sold at pet stores to simulate moonlight would also work. Hmm?
I agree with all comments on the train speed. I'm having Train Envy.
@MsHolidayLights , Thanks for the complements. :-) Glad you like my vid. To be clear, I bought the dark blue/purple lights as is ... I didn't paint them. Menards has special lights like that I think.
Very Nice ! You are the first to set the train speed nice and slow - most people spoil their whole display by having their train run at break-neck speed which only makes their layout look smaller. I also like your video technique!
Thanks! Yeah, the scary-fast trains bug me too. It's not a steam TGV people! ;-) Glad you like my train vids. I'll check your vids out too. Less than 5 months until Christmas! Take care.
Thanks. My black light bulbs are just regular bulbs with blue/purple paint, and they seem to work best. Dark blue Christmas lights would probably work too. Real black lights (fluorescent mercury tubes) just cause random things to have an eerie glow.
Thanks. I'm no expert, so I just let the auto-focus on my Canon HV10 handle it. Usually seems to work pretty well for motion shots. And if I get a fuzzy shot by mistake I sometimes try to work it in for affect... like the fuzzy closing shot in this video. Merry Christmas!
Thanks! I've got four other similar videos posted if you like this one. Making the videos is almost as much fun as playing with the trains! :-) Merry Christmas.

Great job on video angle and the train made it look so real. Never thought about using black lights. Again great job.

Nice motion shots. I always find it hard to keep the scenes in focus.
