@britneekay Hey Brit, I've never heard of VMV. REN is decent - their peels and masks seem pretty good and have decent ingredients. Nothing crazy or toxic. Plus, they get good reviews.
hi steph! as much as i would want to try out those products you are presenting on your vid, i'm guessing they are not available in my country.. boohoo. so, do you have like alternative products (branded ones, preferably) that are good enough to produce the same effects? like cetaphil, for example? Thank you!
what do you think about argan oil? i have been using it but have lately noticed little red splotches on my skin on the other hand it is glowing though
@Nettles27 Argan oil is a great option, particularly for oily and oily/normal combo skin. However, everyone is different and it may not be the ideal oil for you. If you are getting a reaction, it may be from the oil or it may be from something else like a hand wash, hand sanitizer, food or animal that you touched that you may be allergic/sensitive to, or another skin care product. Investigate. ;)
@amrandommm aveeno isn't natural at all. if you read the ingredients list its full of chemicals including parabens. I thought it was natural when i first caught the skincare bug but now i really despise brands like that for marketing themselves as natural but are full of toxic chemicals in them.
@mywhateveraccount369 Nope. All the varieties I have tried end up clogging my pores and/or drying my skin out, unfortunately. I only apply it if I'll be out in the sun all day. I do not concern myself with incidental sun exposure during the day since I want that vitamin D. However, for long drives I am happy to have UV-blocking super dark tint on my car. For sun damage prevention, I take fish oil and drink matcha green tea, as well as eating a grain-free antioxidant-rich diet.
@mywhateveraccount369 Hot damn that sounded super smug haha. Whoops. And by antioxidants I mean eating berries and leafy greens. You can also take astaxanthin, which is a very powerful antioxidant and skin-saver.
@xLivexxLaughx Yep, just at night. No, I don't look tired in the morning, unless I had a bad night's sleep or something. I workout in the morning, so if I'm feeling tired or anything, it gets all the blood flowing and makes you look and feel great.
A lotion mask is like a toner or serum (not a lotion like we think of) soaked in cotton pads and applied to the face. Details are in Saeki's book and on the web. Hope that's helpful!
I know that you have dry skin, but for others like me who have oily skin and like to go the natural route, I would definitely recommend neutrogena purifying pore scrub, I am very impressed as it has greatly reduced my breakouts and makes me nice and glowy
@OrchidGnome Unfortunately, Neutrogena products aren't natural. You could try other brands that are natural that have great products for oily skin. ARCONA, Sophyto, 100% Pure, Skin Apotheke, and SIRCUIT, just to name a few.
Oooo i saw you replied like 10 days ago on my comment! THanks for responding!!!!:)
Have you tried clean start by dermlogica? I'm trying it now and it smells great and leaves my face feeling clean maybe you'll want to check it out its all naturall and I love it!!!!
@Lilfreaknot I wrote a recent post on "subclinical acne" that would also help you with the blackhead situation. It's on my blog (I would link it but YT doesn't let us do that).
@cecilemimieux No, but you can get the Skin Apotheke ubtan scrub on Etsy (dot) com. I get the lavender was from Amazon and the treatment gel from BestBathStore (dot) com. ~Steph x
Hi, great video! Have you ever tried NUDE products? what are your thoughts if you have? I ordered the supplements you suggested on your blog, looking forward to using them. Thanks!
@rsilvia1999 To my knowledge, that products contains parabens, mineral oil, and other skin un-friendly ingredients, so if you can, I would switch to a more natural moisturizer. Remember that what we put on our skin absorbs into our bloodstream, so it's best to use quality, natural products on our bodies.
@haha77ish Hmmm probably 2-3 months I would say? It lasts for a long time. It's liquidy like water in the bottle, but when you push down on the dispenser pump, it comes out like foam. Fun stuff. ;D
is Magnesium Ascorbal Phosphate a good form of vitamin C? I use the Avalon Organics Vitamin C Vitality Facial Serum (what a mouthful!) because it's vegetarian and not tested on animals, in addition to being organic, but I won't if it's not effective! (I have noticed a clarity in my skin that I didn't have before, it's bright and smooth, but could I enhance this result with a better form of C?)
@jennyhuls This is a good form of vitamin C simply because it's more stable and not irritating like ascorbic acid. Definitely stick with it if it's doing good for you skin, because MAP is often used for skin lightening and collagen production for those who can't tolerate ascorbic acid. As long as they're using good ingredients overall, definitely stick with it. :)
i love ur videos! they r so helpful & before i always thought that i couldn't do ANYTHING about my acne, i tried all these products and none of them have worked for me! But your videos are amazing! 1 question though: i have developed SEVERAL bumps on my forehead, idk why, i have picked at them and some of them have turned into scars, and i have tan skin, so my scars are brown, what are these bumps and what can i do to get rid of it and what can i do to get rid of the scars?! Thank You So Much!
@partyintheHCo I would visit your dermatologist first, to determine that they are indeed scars. Sometimes, especially with darker skin, it scars easier and has a more exaggerated scar response that needs to be taken care of by a dermatologist. If they are newer scars, they can be treated by MSM topically and internally (3,000 - 5,000 mg./day taken with vitamin C or fruit juice). I'll have more info on that on my blog and book soon, too! I hope that was a little helpful for you. ~Steph x
great video , could i ask what you would suggest for open pores and blackheads in the t zone area? if i squeeze a blackhead ( i know i probally shouldnt ) i wake up the next morning with it as a huge inflamed spot (with no head) :'( , could you recomend me anything?
@xbabeyjadex I would say get a blackhead extractor tool. Using your fingers is a tricky thing and you can end up irritating your skin, which is what is happening to you now. You can also try the Mario Badescu product I mentioned in the video.
Do you get your Neem extract directly from the source(the neem man??)im through with my second bottle:)is working great for me:)...got it from Australia:S
Do you know the brand Garden of Wisdom???they are really good(natural) ...even do a skin profile for you(very detailed)should visit their web site:)great products....just give it one go:)...am very positive about them:)
@yoon1217whit Yay I know, it's been forever. :( I do update my blog regularly though, so if I don't have time to do a video, I write an article. ~Steph x
awesome video!!! I have the 100% pure face moisturizer too, smells so yummy. I have found a lot of moisturizers make me feel like I need moisturizer which is really annoying. I also have their eye cream and it smells like a coffee shop! I dont know if you have talked about it before but I was wondering what do you use for shampoo and conditioner? I have been searching everywhere to find a good one withouth sulfates etc. Also I have that silver powder so I am looking forward to your post about it
@jamesscott1015 Naw it's not a gross question, it happens to a lot of people. I've noticed that back acne is closely tied to dairy and cooked oils (fried foods and so on). Try reducing those foods and your back acne should start going away. Also try using neem leaf spray (I get mine from The Neem Man [dot] com) on your back to heal the blemishes and kill the bacteria. Hope that helps!
@epicbeautyguide well, i do work at sonic... i'm quitting in a month though so i can work in.. well, non food stores. and i drink a TON of milk and i love me some cheese.. is that neem leaf spray sold in stores?
@jamesscott1015 Okay then definitely try the no-dairy thing for *at least* 2 weeks. I would definitely suggest 4 weeks, but this depends on how quickly you see results and how quickly your skin heals. My brother, for instance, takes about 2-3 weeks for his back acne to go away if he eats really bad and eats a ton of dairy. The neem leaf spray is not sold in stores in the US (as far as I know) but you can buy it online at TheNeemMan [dot] com. Try the Best Bath Store acne gel, too.
@koolpebble No I don't use sunblock as my daily skin care routine. I'm never near the window or driving around for a substantial amount of time, so my exposure to sunlight is purely when I go outside midday to get my vitamin D going. You need to be unprotected by sunblock/sunscreen to get vitamin D production. If I'm going to spending at least 30 minutes outside, I use sunblock and I wrote a whole blog post about it with natural sunblock recommendations. :)
