  • well, i have to admit that a lot of music sucks today. I wished i lived back then and experience good, actual music. music today is full of talentless and overrated artists

  • love whiteplains best group the early 70s

  • One of the best from White Plains !

  • All I wanted for Christmas 1971 was their first album, of which this was one of the tracks. Turned out to be the best one.

  • This is a classic. I'm so glad I was around to appreciate it as a child, they don't make 'em like this any more which is so sad.

  • If i had a shortlist of my top fave songs then this would always be on it. Fabulous music.

  • every time i hear this it is so uplifting, it just gives a joy to this day this life I guess, so well done for spreading the positive the happy

  • great love the oldies being one myself wish they made music like it today

  • mc cauley-cook-greenaway must have been the stock aitken waterman of the 60s/70s

  • Sensational magic in sound !

  • Have been looking 4 this song 4 years so brings back memories of my 1st real boyfriend 60s / 70s magical years .

  • this is a classic from white plains, also loved when you are a king, thanks for posting it dj.taylor53

  • Superb English pop, great melody, harmony and arrangement ---sadly we dont seem to hear it much these days do we ??

  • my first ever single - never get tired of hearing it - was 14 at the time great music back in early 1970s

  • @BILLFRANCIS1956 I'm same age. The first band I really loved with a passion. The first album, with this on it, was a treasure to me for years.

  • my first ever single - never get tired of hearing hit - was 14 at the time great music back in early 1970s

  • HI CHRIS234 ify,,,,,, MAY I SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP,,,,GREAT SONG,,,BLUE SAVANNAH BY ERASURE,,,,THANKS AGAIN,,,,

  • @MrRodnas1 My pleasure....Thank you!

  • can anyone help me please,,,, there was 2 english guys ( well known ) recorded HOME IS WHERE YOUR HEART IS ,,THE singer tall bland hair .with a guy on keyboards backing him, maybe 80.s,,,bloody great singer,,his partner great musician,,,,, if you can help i be greatful,,,,,,thank you,,,

  • @MrRodnas1 Maybe you're thinking of "Blue Savannah" by Erasure ?... "my home is where the heart is" is part of the lyrics to the song.

  • i love it

  • I always liked this track. Thanks for uploading!

  • Wha t a fantastic song. One of my all time favourites. Wonder where the girl I was seeing at the time is now?

  • @Woftam1 Old peoples home I guess

  • @ajay999999 - Brilliant comment - I wish I'd thought of that

  • jesus Ffffin good. so lovely and evocative of this wonderful musical period for a boy born 52.

  • I love Tony Burrows! If only he didn't keep in the background most of the time - he deserved to be far more famous, also to succeed far more as a soloist.

  • Super memories one of my first vinyls. Thanks for sharing.

  • memories of being young and free, a brilliant tune - the white plains were one of my favourite bands

  • Lovely. Brings back memories of being a carefree little teenager!

  • I still have their first album on vinyl on which this fabulous track appears. Still love it. Sheer class.

  • I had this lp-great 1970 pop

  • At least some people out there remember the Dorian Gray original version from '68 (on Parlophone), played quite a bit by Kenny Everett, but surprisingly not a top twenty hit.

  • I actually think this is one of their best tracks --great British pop --great melody, orchestration and harmonies, love it loads..

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I like the Dorian Gray version as well.

It reminds me of summer because it's a nice happy feel good song. Much better than the rubbish of today. The songs back then had melody.

  • Funny how oldies stations always play 'My Baby Loves Lovin'" when White Plains feature, but to me this was every bit as good. Session supremo Tony Burrows doing the business again on lead vocals - he truly was everywhere back in the day. I truly hadn't heard this for years until I logged in tonight. So good, it's almost edible. Bubblegum in all its glory.

  • brilliant!!!

  • Such a lovely song, so happy so upbeat, the brits at the top of the world it was nice being there at the time, so well done spreading sunny music

  • Another classic English pop song --we seemed to have a rich vein of this type of song during the sixties & seventies, Love Affair, White Plains, Edison Lighthouse, Marmadle to name but a few.

  • @Edman910 Yes like The Cats Vanity Fare, the Casuals Butterscotch the Fortunes the Buffoons Ivey League the Hollies and The Beach Boys to name a few

  • @Edman910 Yes like The Cats Vanity Fare, the Casuals Butterscotch the Fortunes the Buffoons Ivey League the Hollies Greenfield and Cook and The Beach Boys to name a few

  • One of their best songs ever surely

  • @rowtenben My Favourite song of all time, yes superb song that should have got in the top 5 at least

  • i love you

  • To barryxf. I think Leona is fabulous and has a voice to die for. Same for Alexander Burke. As regards to others, I respect your opinion. However I believe that today there are not the songwriters around to give us the great melodic sounds of the past. The song has to be the most important factor. Music reflects the times we live in, and today life is far more aggresive than earlier times. How romantic are youngsters today?

Lets have sex, not ,"make love not war", could be a slogan today.

  • @TheDavidjoy There are many good songwriters around but the media market has promoted hiphop to such an extent that it has saturated the market and lifestyles of young people who think its cool to act aggressive violent sexually blatant et al...its all a farce and a shame that youngsters have to imitate such trailer trash attitudes...a huge lack of imagination and a big sell out

  • @Jennysmandolin You are spot on. What a crazy world for young people today.

  • @TheDavidjoy :))

  • To his credit Simon Cowell has helped artists like Same Difference, Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Joe McElderry and more who provide great music....it's the mainstream chart acts which over the past 10 years or so which have little or no musical content and has nothing to do with Simon. Everything generally sounds the same and bland. There were so many great bands in previous decades notably the late 60's the 70s...they are the survivors to stand the test of time. White Plains are one of the best.

  • Simon Cowell is a showman, who' s talent is putting together shows on T.V that people want to watch. It is a falicy to think that Simon is about Music. All the songs are other artists hits that the x factor people sing. No music is not in the equation. People enjoy the humiliations, and the competitivness. A bit like horse racing. No Simon is brilliant at what he does on T.V. The so called music that follows is merely a by product. Simon is a bit like the late Lew Grade. He gets T.V.

  • This is music, so melodic with words that have meaning. Manufactured or not. There sound is superb and makes you want to live.

  • got this on deram label, great song

  • nice post, got this on the yellow/white deram label from 1970,one of my favourites

  • yes Runrome ,you have an amazing grasp on how the music bizz operates today,Cowell doesnt care about good music,(only how much money it can make him)No, Cowell and his X Factor cronies have not ,nor never will have the intellect to appreciate fantastic music such as this.

  • does anyone know the four artists in the picture

  • @therodski1: The four guys are the original line-up of White Plains. The two at the back are Roger Greenaway and Robin Shaw; the two at the front are Tony Burrows and Robin Box.

  • Robin Box was one of the original members. However this is just a promotional print and the person on front right is Peter Nelson (Faces).

  • The harmonies and arangments really exceptional

People like Cowell have really raped the soul out of pop music even if a muscian came up with something as good these days sure the production techniques of today would see that it sounds like every other pop record these days which sounds like it came of the same asembly line

  • love this,,,reminds me of being young :)

  • my favourite record of all time, reminds me of our hloiday at Pontins at Ainsdale in May 1970 when it was in the charts

  • what a great song this was. my fav white plains track. i still love it 40 years on. that first album, with its black & white cover, which contained this song was the most precious thing in the world to me back then. great posting.

  • bubblegum pop at its best

  • great memories......

  • This song is a great example of the brilliant pop songs from the late 60s/early 70s written by the teams of Cook/Greenaway, Reed/Mason, Tony Hazzard etc. It was a tremendous time for catchy, melodic & well crafted pop songs, & i'm glad i was around to appreciate it ! Thanks for posting.

  • too true my sentiments

  • i thank God i was a teenager then,i feel o sorry for todays kids they missed so much good music

  • Bummer about 60sman. LOVE this song!

  • Thank you for this great posting. I loved White Plains.

  • Hi Pam. Yes, a favourite track of mine mainly because Dorian Gray, for whom it was specially written by Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook, is a personal friend. However, it's a shame that he didn't make it as high in the charts as White Plains did. If you havn't heard the original version, it shows in Related Videos. Regards, John

  • like to meet them, they wroke some cracking tunes!

  • if I had a quid for every time I sang this when I was a teenager I'd be a helluva lot richer now!

  • my favourite record, herd it at Pontins at Ainsdale

  • a great classic

  • Dear Pamfino2 - thank you so much for this. i was bereft when the 60sman's video was suspended. It reminds me so much of a time when I was young and full of hope. Things have gone well, actually, but this song is so evocative of this period of my life. Salute!

  • I was really sad when 60sman got taken out too! I'm glad I grabbed this video and FAB song for everyone to continue enjoying - until I'm taken out (again!) that is! ;-D

  • Just keep it going: listen every night doing emails. Real feel-good song. So redolent. Best, Ivor

  • I forgot to add - Tony Burrows lives!!!!

  • Don't remember this one, but loved it as soon as I heard it! Got to No17 in England in 1970.Pax to all from Ian Smith.Xxx.

  • many thanks for posting this great 60s song again pamfino2 very much appreciated so many good good memories of a carefree upbringing and my early teenage years thanks again
