There is no such thing as a mini beagle. If you purchased this beagle from a breeder advertising that they sold mini beagles then you need to get your money back. You were cheated and lied to. What people call a mini beagle is actually a just a beagle 13 inches tall. They are bred to be small but may have genetic defects.

when i lost my beagle it was like the hardest thing ive gone through. ive been dealing with depression for about 7 years now. and when she died it just made it all worse. she was all i had. i have no support from my family. so she was my family. and then i lost her right when i needed her the most.

Go to an animal shelter. Save a dog's life. They will be your best friend. Many times dogs in shelters are purebred but people give them up anyway because they don't know how to train them. Beagles need a lot of training. They are lovable but stubborn and NOISY!

@zanne101zanne101 - not all Beagles are noisy. I've had four -- 3 at the same time and they spent most of their time sleeping and playing with each other, not barking. They're also very smart so they learn quickly.

Two of my Beagles were rescued from shelters. Just because they're purebreds, does'n't mean they don't need a loving home.

I wasn't saying anything against Beagles. I used to have one and loved it very much. But usually, they are very active. And yes, they are smart, which is why a lot of people can't handle them - they can outsmart a lot of people. When I suggested that people go to a shelter, I mentioned that a lot of purebred dogs are there to be adopted - so you misread my answer I was trying to let people know they didn't have to go to breeders to get a dog - the dogs in shelters need rescuing.

mini is anything under 13. even if it's 12 3/4 in. but they're 13in as a standard beagle term, like if you enter it in a dog show. if you sayed to the dog show ppl it's a mini they'd laugh in your face.

i have a 12 inch but we say 13. it's like a rule nd it's a misconception to think otherwise.

FYI pocket beagles didnt go extinct, after years and years they grew to the size large enough to say that they're 13.

if someone is trying to sell you a mini or pocket beagle it's actually a runt.

Mine is a 14, too big for the mini category, and not big enough for the standard. These dogs have a magical effect on people (me at least). One morning I woke up and Gunner was fast asleep in exactly that position, right next to my ear, all four feet up in the air. Beagles are everything we humans wish we could be. there is a mini beagle tho. its called a pocket beagle (like a hole other breed) n they do not exceed 12"...they actually stay around 7"

The TRUE pocket beagle was 9" and they are extinct. At the time, breeders are trying to re-create them by breeding beagles that are too small. There is no true pocket beagle, unless they can perfect the size again. It'll take years and years though.
