The anime chose horrible voices to portray these epic characters. They all came from Yugi-Oh for crap's sake! The manga is glorious. The anime kind of sucked...

@MilkMaidRum Actually , ONLY Kira was voiced by someone from Yu-Gi-Oh under A DIFFERENT Name ! Vinnie Penna voiced Kira under his REAL Name and Joey Wheeler under his STAGE Name he`s BETTER KNOWN BY Wayne Grayson !

@MarshMellorine Hate to bust your bubble... but that character's given name really is Kira. Kira appears to be a somewhat common name in anime. The manga's a bit better than the anime itself, really.

At The Start of The Manga when The OVA takes place , Kira`s possessed by The Spirit of The Holy Sword.Later on , Lucifer possesses Kira , overwriting Kira`s Personality & The Spirit`s while retaining their memories.

So basically since The Spirit of The Holy Sword is still dormant within Kira , Kira now has two bloodthirsty spirits inside him.

It should also be noted that while The Spirit of The Holy Sword is part of Lucifer , The Spirit lacks Lucifer`s memories & actually has some redeeming qualities while other than his feelings for Alexiel , Lucifer is pure evil.

@GammaAkutobi Good point although the manga heavily draws upon " Paradise Lost " in which Lucifer betrays God and the angelic host because he`s jealous of God loving humans more than angels , particularly himself , as he sees humans as younger and inferior beings . Ofcourse , God in " Angel Sanctuary " doesn`t seem to love anyone aside from maybe himself . But , Lucifer still seems to look down on humans .

@1993MovieMan In my defense, I had not read "Paradise Lost" the first time I read through "Angel Sanctuary." Both are great stories, but it will be quite some time before I read Paradise Lost again. My research paper was over Milton and my teacher was a jerk about it. Too much research, but it all went towards my little mental database of angels and info about the occult. And while God in Paradise Lost did care about humans but allowed them free will, God in Angel Sanctuary doesn't

@GammaAkutobi Indeed in Faust , Mephistopholes is The Devil while in Faustus he`s merely a fallen angel and servant of The Devil , the alchemist is more sympathetic in Faust , Faustus doesn`t have the famous scene in which Mephistopholes sows the seeds of plague and famine and in Faust the alchemist repents and is saved while in Faustus he never repents and is thus damned to Hell .

@1993MovieMan Finally! A fellow lover of classic literature!! There were are so few around here. I had to resort to talking to the librarians. My boyfriend won't even touch any story made before 1980 if he doesn't have to, and I think even saying 1980 might be a tad too generous. Or anything that isn't manga for that matter. I've been trying to get him to read a few series out of his comfort zone, like Angel Sanctuary and Cantarella, but he won't listen.
