  • i would like to do that,

    would make me very special

  • That German guy really loved the Ferrari. Who wouldn't?

  • "as fresh as a daisy"

I heard that sentence several times and i just don't understand what it means. That's propably because i am not English.

    What is that sentence for?

  • in case you do not know.. a daisy is a flower.. known for its simplicity and freshnesh.. he just used it as a metaphor to explain that he stills feel fress and havent been stressed after several hours of driving.. im a filipino by the way.. but dont worry english is taught here much more complicated than the americans.. thats kinda vital for us since most of us are aspiring of working in Europe and America.. hahaha

  • The 599 is very similiarly priced and designed like the 612!

  • 4:33 What a ridiculously cool image.

  • why does this hairy twat get to drive such a fine machine...

  • "hairy twat" haha!

  • :(:(:( i have the new renault scenic :(:( so pitty iam:( but i dont care,i love this 599

  • he looks like a WWE wrestler.

  • What a design, what an engine...I just can't express my luv and respect for Ferrari!

  • hottest car i've ever seen.

  • i also find him annoying, yes he tested the car to quite an extent but it would have been nice to hear about the technicalities of it, e.g. RPM!!!!

  • It sounds... Oh damn... bloody shorts need changing.

  • id never let anybody ever touch my car like that even the old mans testarossa

  • I'd rather the Rover 75 with the BMW built diesel engine.

  • No! Don't touch the old man's Testarossa!

  • what a piece of shit driver, g fk urself asshole

  • Lovely car but annoying driver.

  • drive is a fucking gayass.

  • Takes one to know one.

  • Longtime TG viewer/reader, just starting watching Fifth Gear. Just put together Tom Ford here, is Tom Ford the TG writer. Awesome!

  • That steely grey one looks a lot better than the red one Tom's in (and I don't mean the 612).

  • oohhh!!!! lovely cars!! i would like to be a camera man on that trip :3

  • I would wanna be driver

  • I would want to have won the lottery

  • yeah our autobahn^^

  • one day i hope to buy this car

  • lol,u can afford it,yeah right....

  • beautyful..

    and I mean the 599

  • what a beatyful car

  • dont you think it looks a bit like a british sports car (tvr, Marcos)?

  • i would like two of those cars!

one in red and one in grey /silver.

    i'll study hard!

  • what is that fat slob wearing

  • better review than tiff's

  • this fat bear is so lucky

  • fat bear...lol :)))

  • Great review by Tom.

  • I think it's great with the color Bordeaux.

  • i want one

  • I wanna do things to it that aren't usually done to inanimate objects

  • hes got a wife and kid u know :S

  • i want his job

  • What do you think is the best color for this car?!?

  • Black or gunmetal gray. Something dark.

  • Not my favorite Ferrari body design but I'd take it. :-D

  • I agree, the 599 isnt the best looking Ferrari but its certainly a good looking car. I would buy a 599 just for the engine.

  • Lesia44 it sounds like you've driven a number of these exotics and I've only driven one. I'd like to test this 599GTB along with the F430 and SLR McLaren and they may prove themselves worth the extra money but the Gallardo did not.

  • Haven't driven a 599 or SLR but I have driven several 430s, both stick and paddle and it's a blinder! It's got everything. Nothing comes close for feel, it's as fast, give or take, as anything I've driven, it's got the best sound (passengers laugh like a child the first time they hear it full throttle), the paddle shift works like a dream and it's even got a ride that, on its regular setting, is as good as a BMW. If you ever get a chance bite someone's arm off to drive one!

  • Best of all: the handling. A brilliant chassis and traction control unlike any other inspire so much confidence that you can use more of what the 430 can do. Most TCs just suck out all the momentum. In a 430 it's like having Schumacher sitting on your lap. He lets you have fun, lets you over cook it, then at the last minute takes the situation in hand and sets you back on course. It's almost creepy it's so good. They're saying the 599 is better. Can't imagine how it can be. Can't wait to try it!

  • Well Lesia44 I was expecting more from the Gallardo test drive but it does have a great engine sound and a fantastic chassis that's stable as a rock at high speeds. Downshifts from 2nd to 1st are jerky with the E-gear paddle shift and it just isn't as much of a partner in the driving experience as the 'vette.

  • The E-gear is a bit of and odd one on the Gallardo -- sometimes it works fine and others it seems really crude. I think like the rest of the car it's happiest when you're giving it nine tenths.

  • is that guy a european version of jesus?

  • he is a prick though lol

  • wat about clarkson lol

  • commentator = pro Muppett :S

  • omg beautiful car.. its not flashy. just fckin beautiful

  • Hmm this video spells out exactly why top gear > fifth gear

  • This car's styling is quite FIAT-ish especially the rear.I still love the 612 Scaglietti because the styling is just so artful.

  • its anamazing car, i should know, my next door naighbour has 1, amazing sound from exhust

  • Anyone know the song at the 5:20?

  • If you have an extra $200,000 to throw in the garbage buy this car. If not, get the Corvette Z06!

  • try $524,000+ ;)

a used one listed in dupont registry

  • The Z06 is a way differant car then the 599. The Corvette is an all out sports car, it has the performance of the F430 or 911 Turbo or Gallardo for a fraction of the price. It is not a comfortable car to drive around on the road, its meant for the track. The 599 is meant for long distance cruising, so you can drive from the ferrari factory to monaco with high performance, but you can fit all your luggage into the trunk. The Vette and 599 are way differant cars.

  • I own a base C6 Corvette and it's very comfortable so I'll revise my statement: If you hava an extra $215,000 to throw in the garbage by this car! Hahahahahaha!!!

  • You are an asshole. There is no comparison between a fuckin' american car like the Corvette and this beautiful peace of italian artistry and engineering. Fuckin' idiot!

  • Try driving one and you'll see. I test drove a Lamborghini Gallardo and it wasn't much fun at all. It wasn't faster either.

My guess is you haven't driven either so who's the fuckin' idiot someone who speaks from experience or someone who talks out his asshole asshole!

  • Quite simply you're lying. From what you said you've never been near a Gallardo. I've covered about 5,000 miles in a variety of Gallardos and they're about as much fun as you can have on 4 wheels and faster cars are few and far between. And of the ones that do have bigger numbers few would live with the Lambo cross country. For pure driving pleasure it's probably only bested by the F430 and possibly a Caterham 7.

  • By the way, the preceding comments are made from the point of view of having driven most of the top sports cars (but, sadly, not the 599). So when I say the F430 and Caterham 7 are better I'm not just regurgitating something I read in a magazine.

  • Oh, and one last thing, I've driven the Corvette and if you think that's a good driver's car you really don't know anything about driving. Pants in the extreme!

  • Look I did drive the Gallardo and there's things I know about it that you can't possibly know otherwise. The steering is extremely heavy and the power is not immediate when you press the throttle. It seems slow at first and you don't have the brute force thrust of the Corvette.

  • Continuing on the sound is phenomenal in the Gallardo but that's by far its best feature. It feels large and heavy even though it's smaller than the 'vette and the steering is completely numb. Also, it's nervous entering corners and doesn't give you the turn in confidence of the 'vette.

  • Finally, it feels utterly German and I don't mean that in a good way. It gives you nothing but good engine music and there's otherwise little communication given to the driver. You can't feel the engine or the road through the wheel. It's aloof and while the build quality is better than the 'vette, it's just not as much fun. And I still maintain it's not any faster either.

  • Unless you're used to over powered power steering then the Gallardo's isn't heavy. OK, it's not light, and certainly not as sweet as some (Ferrari 355 comes to mind), but not heavy either. One thing I would say is that there's a bit too much under-steer in tight bends. I haven't driven the latest model but I believe they've reduced that to a degree.

  • Slow? It's up there in that top band that are separated by fractions of a second and the four that I've driven have all gone like a scolded cat. Are you sure the one you drove wasn't knackered?

Drive a Porker or a Merc you certainly won't think it feels German, unless you count the fact that they don't break down every twenty minutes anymore. I think it's the crisp efficiency of the styling that makes people describe it as feeling German because the driving experience certainly isn't Teutonic.

  • As for the Vette, well you get a lot of sound and fury but after an hour in one I decided to call it a day despite having the opportunity drive it for much longer if I'd wanted. I found it a clumsy car to hustle on a twisty road. Like the styling, though.

  • The Gallardo just gets better the more you drive it, although you do have to drive the tits off it for it to fully come into its own. At normal speeds a less than perfect ride demands too much attention and it is a little too big and too hard to see out of, a fault of a lot of these cars (although compared to driving a Murciélago through London in Friday rush hour traffic it feel positively microscopic!).

  • LOL ! wizard364!! you make a big mistake ! if you want a big beautiful car that will not break in less than 3 year buy an italian car!!!!!!

  • The Lamborghinis have a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty. Why exactly???

  • At montreal concessionaare you can have a 7 years warranty/unlimited mile!!!!S0!!!

  • So don't make fun of the Corvette. It's a great car regardless of what this British windbag thinks.

  • Because they're owned by Audi which makes them just as reliable as an Audi.

  • Excellent point!

  • you can't compare a corvette with a Ferrari. you could make any car just as fast and well-handling. but no one can replicate the experiance. thats the reason some cars are a lot more expensive than the other.

  • i totally agreed,

  • the 599 gtb ish a beauty...the 612 was nice...dis ish amazing...n the power it has...

    Float like a butterfly,Stings like a bee ~!

  • an amazing car.

  • Wow I used to think the 599 was ugly, but now I have seen one in the flesh and it looks amazing. The sound was pretty good too, I would love to have one.

  • what type of red is the 599, is it scurdia or rossa corsa? nice vid....

  • A good way to tell if its rossa corsa, compare it to the F1 car...

  • ferrari didnt use the rosso corsa coz the designer did not think it looked right.

  • rosso rubino

  • I think you are all just a tad jealous and everyone takes from each experience differently. So he is a critic in the fact that you can be one too. Just get out there and rent it or buy it for yourself. :)

  • ur fucking dumb

  • That was Polite of you ur2m2m considering your probably angry you can't drive let alone afford one. Let it go.

  • you cant drive let alone afford one

  • this fuckin guy doesnt know how to be a car critic. plus hes pretty fat

  • i saw a red one today here in Phoenix. I cried - for many different reasons. Oh how I love thee.

  • shut up you sad fuck

  • LOL. Blow me, Nico.

  • what a beautiful car too bad the test had to be done by that fat bastard. he doesn't know how to drive or do commentary. definately should of gave it to vicky.

  • "definately should of gave it to vicky."

You need to work on your spelling and your grammar. If you don't, you'll never pass the 4th grade.

  • 4th grade i probably make more money in one day then you do all week othwerwise you must be related to that fat bastard in the video or take offence to comments against fat people cause you are one.

  • ill have mine in that gun metal grey please this guy is an idiot, ferrari gave him a 2nd chance to test it i do think he will be getting another invite. If any of you read the car magazine Evo this one car of the year 2006 (they are pros believe) and that was against sports cars aswell so im sorry this guy is a fool. peace out

  • this twit is a moron. Undeserving car critic. He should be hanged by the balls. He definitely is not into it nor does he want to be there. Complaining twat.

  • - bad video

    - no information and details to the car

    - he makes only on thick trousers

    - Bavaria Munich shirt, who interests that?

  • Not sure what the start was about, but its quite difficult feeling sympathetic about someone about to drive a Ferrari.

  • first time that i've seen a Ferrari 599

and i have to say that the only cars equally, or more desirable are a 430, enzo, lambo, carrera gt...

but for a front engine cruiser, the 599 must be in a class of its own - stunning - especially in that colour :)))

  • To be fair to this car, it is more of a Grand Touring car than a race car. And I'd take this car OVER a BMW M5 or M6, or a Lambo Gallardo Spyder. I think it looks decent for a sportscar.

  • The back is disgusting looking!

  • Nah, I just don't like it. Sure it's fast and everything, but I just don't like the look of the car. It just doesn't look glamorous like a Ferrari should, and I prefer the better looking (in my opinion anyway) F430.

  • That is one of the most pathetic reviews I have ever seen of one of the greatest cars ever made- that guy is a disgusting slob and should never have been allowed to becaome a car journalist... top gear all the way

  • exactly what i said about the big-nose other 5th gear presenter.

they should have had sexy Vicky test + shes a racing driver ;)

  • plus she's just awesomely cool :p

  • Tom Ford is a very talented car journo who has driven the best cars in the world - your just jealous that he has the best job in the world!!! He is also deputy editor of Top Gear magazine u tit!

  • the 599 is the ferrari i want

  • better than f430 except rear is weird?

  • My fav modern Ferrari.

  • Awsome car...
