Have any pilots here flown this approach? Is that touchdown /on/ the threshold intentional so that the aircraft doesn't run off the runway, or is it just low speed on finals there?
@bluescan92 this was not ILS approach cuz it required many turns during the approach, it was probably a VOR/DME approach..... and even worst, theres no ILS at Toncontin airport, so.....
no, no, no you got it all wrong. u see chuck norris was on that flight realized it was gonna crash killed pilot took over until landing then brought pilot back to life and pretended it was the pilot. DUH
@AsadMushtaq90 its a very difficult runway to land. from what i can see from the video, that runway is very, VERY short. Not to mention all the crosswinds you can see the pilot is dealing with, and the mountains region the airport is surrounded by. It's a crazy landing because its brilliantly done. That pilot is very skilled
Wow... What a skilled pilot. To do such a sharp turn with such little lift and then land in crosswind like that. I bet both pedals were smashed to the floor and all levers back before he even hit the ground. Bravo to this guy. Very bright and challenging future.
Big deal, it's like the landing at St Martin Island, they are all like that. No sweat, every pilot can do it easily. There is nothing "crazy" about this landing, except that being so close to the roads it's fun to watch.
@luigicamp69 You're obviously not a pilot. This is completely different from St Martins. Mountainous terrain, short finals with tight, low turns close in to the runway, downward sloping terrain on the threshold, buildings, extremely short runway. St Martins is a piece of cake compared to this. This was a perfect approach and landing (with some crosswind component) done by an extremely skilled pilot. Now go and find some UFO video to troll.
@CukierekMan yeah it is ,kind of dangerous ,the runway is too short, and its located in a hole bet mountains.....i believe this is in tegucigalpa, honduras central america
Excellent landing, considering: Boeing 757, 6,600 foot runway, 3297 MSL, and an insane approach over a hill...which they removed, according to Wikipedia...
Toncontín Airport; Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I landed a Lear 35 there once upon a time in low vis conditions, circle to land. This place really gets your attention. It's also a non-radar environment so it's all about the pilot.

@ hamburg ...WHAT ....???? so that wasn't a good landing you talk such shit YES it was hard but that took skill coz if he fucks that up there is a drop of over a 1000ft smack bang at the end of the runway so you are talking absolute shit but then again your german so it's to be expected that's why we tanned your ass in both wars
Just ask the Pilot whats all that " Ping, BAm! Pow ! wizzing noise going bythe palne are? he will tell you just birds hitting the plane. Welcome to Honduras GRINGO!
I was there back in the 70's when the communist were taking shots at you will you flew in . you could here the ping , POW, bam , boom ! As the Pilot hows everything and he woulld smile and go " Just another day in Paridise, Gringo ! "
@11mrjarjar if it was a black pilot they'd have been late due to stopping off in the carribean engage in historical cultural practices - picking cotton and tabacco and maybe eat some rice peas and chicken.
Wow, that is a skilled landing. It almost looks like the airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I flew into that airport two weeks ago (cessna caravan, not 737) and still can't figure out why they put an airport in a valley!! Two thumbs up to the pilot for this one!!!!
@Seanbucks86 i would agree, I landed on a commercial jet at TGU about six years ago. I remember the plane making a very sharp bank, looking out my window and seeing houses on the hillside less than 50 meters from the wingtip. Wild...
hey it can be done, i worked up north air traffic right in mckenzie mountains, to see and land as co-pilot on a strip like this on a ice runway is very scary, don't knock it till you tried it. :)
This was on one of the top 10 scariest airports. I don't think it was #1 and I think they have since made the strip longer, but that is one scary looking landing. A little drop could be disaster, great perspective on the landing, I don't think they showed that angle, it is close to the ground for a while. Thanks for posting!
