he developed his knee problems while laboring as a youth shoveling sand into sand bags along the river.. his problems were furthered from his training in shaolin, but he later came to wudang and healed himself.
@chinagiant Oh, thanks, I didn't know that. however, his knees never completely healed. you can even see it in his forms. when he came to wudang for the first time, he was very young, and at that time he was still training "too hard"; then he left wudang, and much later, when he knew that wudang kung fu academies had so much succes, he came back (and btw had forgotten almost all the forms). my source is a master who was a xiongdi of gang ge... ;)
a little better, but still not all the way correct. my source is me.. i am a disciple and trained under him directly for 4+ years. his knees are fine now.. it's his neck that gives him problems now from an injury at shaolin practicing a drunken form.
@chinagiant lol (4 years in gang ge's school.. is only worth it in the chinese class, not the ridiculous foreigner class, from what i've heard.) anyway, respect for enduring it xD
I picked up a crystal 18 years ago, and was instantly tuned in to chi. Two years later I trapped my sciatic nerve, and trusted chi to heal me. Sixteen years later - having never once had a lesson - I am doing movements similar to Master Yuan, having been stretched just a little further in my trust day by day. I have yet to get anything like as low to the ground as he can, but I did start at 34. Wish I had started at six or eight! When I finish, I feel incredibly relaxed, and ten feet tall. :-)
Master Yuan is amazing. He seemed to get better and more powerful later in age. It takes so much strength to execute these movements. This man is a power house and could crack a skull if he wanted to.
Oh my GOD, those leg bends and crouches are so much harder than they look. Yea, there was some real explosivness near the end too. All that built up chi, if he'd call it that, was just let loose.
You have obviously no idea about martial acts. You should stick to watching the crap that comes out of hollywood films instead. Jean cluade Van dam would be more your cu of tea.
I think everybody should know that this master (yuan xiugang) has got severe knee problems, because of too intense training during his youth.

your story is true, but it is incomplete..
he developed his knee problems while laboring as a youth shoveling sand into sand bags along the river.. his problems were furthered from his training in shaolin, but he later came to wudang and healed himself.

Not sure what that was? Very abstract at best. Kinda like some guys at a rave but with a classic Kung Fu twist and zero music.

雙腳要貼一點,平肩為好,他太開了,頭不要搖,像他一樣,算係練得不好,馬太低,易傷關節,不合年紀大的人,動作太快,好看不好用,且把他的當成一種動作,不可叫做太極.

This is a chen style of taichi chuan ... one of many variants !!!
sanmingtao 3 years ago
No, this is not Tai Chi, this is Tai Yi.
Complete different things. :)

I´m sorry but ... could you explain to me what is Tai Yi for you? Which are the rules, ...?
Thank you very much
sanmingtao 3 years ago
...... -_-#
You need to figure it out by yourself. If you are really like this. Do the research and learn.
Again, this is not TaiChi... :)
lichtakira 3 years ago
This is Wudang Heaven Dragon style taijiquan NOT Chen style. No connection at all.

Hey Lynwe,
this is a Wudang art called "Tai Yi Qigong". It is a very advanced and special type of Qigong focussing on the separation of Yin and Yang.
Best wishes
