  • fuck it all i love dylan and i love the felice brothers

i love my generation because i can hear good old things and new good things

we are living a music revolution again and this is perfect

    peace guys

  • Hey, I've just heard these guys for the first time tonight and am hooked! I really want to download one of their albums but don't know which one. Any suggestions? I like Frankie's Gun and Whiskey in my Whiskey.

  • his voice just kinda sounds like dylan's sometimes but he has his own voice and the band has their own style and he writes different. in my opinion

  • They get it. The shame of poverty, the betrayal of a friend, the love, the hate, the despair, the hope, the joy,the faith, the often painful human condition;not as a removed observor but as an active participant. Dylan is a darling of the intellectual bleeding heart elite. The Felice Brother's connect with the subjects of their songs. Thedisenfranchised don't need pity they need simple human kindness. The brothers deliver.

  • seeing them this december, its not often i wish my life away but i just can't wait!!

  • great band... even better live. Which record is this song on?

  • lovely poignant lyrics simple and moving a beautiful song, one of many, from the boys from the Catskill Mts

  • @wdp103 They must be idiots. All you young people who like this simple music, check out Townes Van Zandt and Tom Waits.

  • bob dylan.....

  • Anyone else just lost at the comparisons to dylan? I cannot see it even if I try. This music creates a completely different feeling to Dylan. Theres more comraderie in this Dylan was made for the 60s hippie vibe.

  • @welldone1877 Ian's voice carries (echoes and re-echoes) the soul of Woody Guthrie taken to a new plateau

  • I love this band. Every album is amazing.

  • the pogues of their generation , brilliant

  • "In a while we'll be in a house by the sea, even if just in my mind......"

    That is heady,heady stuff......gorgeous. Sigh.......

  • Having been to a Felice Bros show, all these Dylan remarks floor me. I KNOW that Dylan is rightfully considered the epitome of American songwriting, but these boys stand their own ground, beat their own drum, and by damn, dance to it any freaking way they please. Give them accolades for being awesome songwriters and musicians, not Dylan sound-a-likes.

  • @wtfe20210 Agreed. Just imagine if people had simply viewed Dylan as a Woody Guthrie sound-a-like when he first appeared on the music scene.

  • @MitchellWilsonMusic Actually he was, for quite awhile haha and then FINALLY people opened their eyes. Will be the same for these guys as well. lets hope! :)

  • @MitchellWilsonMusic I am 32 year old female who has spent most of her youth traveling the United States, hearing different local, native sounds. I appreciate your commentary on Guthrie. You know, unless I am totally mistaken, the media labled Donovan the "New Dylan" to the point that back in the day, even Dylan dissed Donovan.

Upon meeting Ian, briefly I have to add, he is non-pretentious, quiet dude who likes to read. And freaking wail live.

  • @MitchellWilsonMusic I appreciate the Guthrie observation. I have spent most of my youth (I am 32 and female) traveling to the places no one visits in the US. I love the local/native music, and Felice always reminded me of some of my favorite towns.

You know, if I am not mistaken, the media dubbed Donovan the "New Dylan" to the point even Bob himself snubbed Donovan , back in the day. Interesting what we let the mainstream TELL us we are hearing, ya know?

  • @MitchellWilsonMusic Sorry, youtube keeps losing my posts then they magically reappear LOL

  • @wtfe20210 When I first heard Ian sing when my friend gave me a copy of their self-titled album, I was blown away by the sound. Ian's tone quality is a mix of Bob Dylan and John Prine while being totally new and unique. Some of their songs have a similar sound but it's really the tone of Ian's voice that gets it for me. And obviously the setting and characters in their songs. The sense of loneliness, destitution, love, bohemian lifestyles and dark, sometimes hopeless situations.

  • @BoobyMcDoogle You totally get it. And like I said, your words prove that you appreciate imagery. Some people need hot coals shoveled in thier ears, we aren;t those kind of people. It is the nuance, the emotion, the Henri Rousseau hidden "monster". Well done, written, friend.

  • @wtfe20210 Having spent most of my years in upstate new york, I really connect with their imagery. They evoke an image to me of a cold morning in January or February, when the best of the snow is done and we're left with brown roads and sidewalks, crusty cars, and we have nothing to look forward to but spring, which is a long way off. It's getting breakfast at a lonely diner, not because it's a fun exciting thing to do but because it's all you can do.

  • @BoobyMcDoogle I can feel that, as well. I lived in Potsdam, Ticonderoga and Plattsburgh. Well said, and your imagery isn't that bad either, ;)

  • The only negative thing you can say about this song is that it doesn't last long enough.

  • Seen these guys twice, they are insane live... always put on a good show. I got a piece of their washboard after the guy broke it haha

  • I love stuff from each of their albums....the first album recommended to me was the self titled "The Felice Brothers"....i'm going to see them in a few days....in their home country!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Just saw em in Nashville. Epic show~

the opening act was amazing as well. kinda like a southeastern whitestripes sound!

    anyway...love the felice brothers!!

  • MOIST

  • I am a great lover of Bob Dylan, David Grey and that distinct sort of sound... Now from my home place all the way across the world to hear these guys is awesome... From Paris to Colombo Sri Lanka the Catskill mountains ring.

  • Just discovered these guys through a random event............

BRILLIANT will defo be looking to go see them live.

Thanks for posting and thanks to YT.

    God Bless.

  • @iamkentphil420....you must see them live, they are even better in that way!!!!

  • @gmsanders72 I would love to see them live...............that would be awsomely wickedly amazingly pukka pies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.

(in other words YES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM LIVE).

    God Bless.

P.s have you seen them live? +can you recommend an album for me?

    Muh Appreciated my friend.

  • @iamkentphil420 get all and every album you will not be sorry and in fact will spend months humming and singing their gorgeous, oft rollicking ditties in your mind and out loud and proud on the street. Do it for yourself for Christmas. Guaranteed joy.

  • What a band....................only just discovered them aswell thanks to a message i sent a LONG TIME AGO...............

    Thanks for osting+thanks to YT.

    God Bless.

  • beautiful! whats it about?

  • I like you guys alot. Love the 20's feel to the vid. Looks like you guys have a lot of fun together. Thank God for musicians, artists, writers, and all the people who bring it to the public.

  • Thank you for turning me on to these guys! Now I have CD's on order and tickets to 2 shows! THANKS AGAIN!

  • Just wanted to THANK a random playlist user that used this....I chanced to listen a couple weeks ago...and have since bought 2 tix to see these guys live.

Wished I could remember the user so I could subscribe to their playlist. It had a lot of Old Crow on it...

  • I've seen these guys live twice and fall more in love with them everytime.

If you ever get a chance to see these guys, do it.. Hell of a live show.

Can't wait for them to come around to Huntsville or B'ham again.

  • My head's in pain, but I can't complain 'cause my sweetheart waits on down the line. And in a while we'll be in a house by the sea, even if we're just in my mind

  • Palenville (where they're from) is relatively close to woodstock...

So much LSD and weed rained into the ground back in the 60's, that the region is a hotbed of talent xD

  • Palenville is basically a gas station, a post office, a bar and some houses. Thats about it. Oh, it also has a church and firehouse.

  • This song would be so loved by anyone with a soul...absolutely magical.

  • Love these guys..

  • very nice film!

  • Comment removed

  • What I wouldn't give to know Arte...

  • these guys are class, where are they from?

  • @seangildy Palenville, N.Y.

  • Reminds me of Bob Dylan, very good.

  • love.

  • I smiled all the way through. That's all i have to say

  • Forever grateful to Radcliffe and Maconie for making my acquaintance...

  • I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!!!! I seen the big suprise show in knoxville tn back in august 09, my first time hearing the felice bros. now i'm in LOVE can't get enough!!i will damn well catch them every time they are remotly close!

  • best band ever

  • These guy`s are out there on their own, they don`t have to rip off Dylan or anybody else !!! they play Dublin oct 18th can`t wait. Check out the Duke and the King.

  • The Felice Brothers and their long time friends and band mates Greg Farley and Christmas Clapton, come to us from the Catskill Mountains, where a homegrown sound has been working its way through the bloodlines for generations. Their rambling journey so far has brought them from busking in New York City subway stations, to tours across the world that have included enthusiastically received performances at major music festivals including Bonnaroo, All Points West, Outside Lands, and Langerado.

  • i get to see these awesome mamajammas tomorrow night. i am excited!

  • Great Video,

Really expecting to see those guys somewhere around the world...

  • Great Show in Louisville!!!

  • this song gives me the chills :)

  • they are my absolute favorite.

  • Great chorus!

  • Im seeing them in Amsterdam 24th october

  • Saw them last night in SD. Best live show I've seen in years.

  • Can't wait to see them tomorrow at the Troubadour in LA. I've missed seeing them twice.

  • Worlds most underated band ever. Barely anyone knows about them. Tonight at the Arizona is definately their best album.

  • ill be seeing them here in seattle tommorow nite!!!

  • love, love, love their early stuff (as in, first two albums, which you can't even buy anymore...). aside from a select few songs, i've been greatly disappointed with their recent stuff. it's lost the magic that their early sound had. i'm not saying bands should stay the same, or shouldn't evolve, but i'm not crazy about the direction and sound of the boys' new music.

  • stop comparing them to Dylan, anyone who sings with a raspy voice is going to be compared to him...these guys are great, that's all that matters.

  • its not the voice... its the way it's sung, the way they are pulling the chorus in, the rhythm... its a good song, but their style is a rip off of Dylan's Desire -era...

  • incredible

  • Brilliant. Caught them at SXSW in Austin, TX...so good.

  • einmalig schöner song!!!!!!!

  • good song, videos a disapointment though

  • who cares about the video anyway, I would rather just close my eyes and take it all in.

  • Seeing them Wednesday in Atlanta. That jackass that said they sound nothing like Dylan must be listening through his ass, they sound a lot like Dylan, but with a Hudson River twist. Here' s a tip buddy: keep quiet when you're ignorant. The new album is great, check it out...

  • @jpga9 who the hell are you? Music is subjective. I don't think they sound like Dylan and I know enough about both to say it.... even the band themselves tire of the Dylan comparisons.... probably because they're not accurate description of their sound. I don't think you understand the atmosphere around music, I think your ignorant and you should keep quiet.

  • listened to this tune like 20 times now, keeps gettin better and better..... KEEP ROLLIN ARTE!!!!!

  • thank you to 12 touch for giving me the name of cd. Now I need to know about Her eyes dart around. I'm going to see them next Friday at Webster hall and have been told they sell cd's there. I'm wondering if that's true

  • yeah they are selling their new cd at their shows. i just saw them on the 22nd and they were selling them

  • it's a song from "tonight at the arizona"

  • Comment removed

  • As a big Dylan fan, its good to hear music today that is even comparable!

  • could somebody tell me what cd this is on

  • fuck this dylan and the band comparisons... they sound totally different..

  • After overcoming the shock! I love Good old Zimmerman, I love Robbie Robertson and the boys in The Band, so I love those young dudes too :o) Keep on rollin' Arte!

  • I saw them live last year. They were brilliant. Although they sound like Dylan and the Band, its a sound that works for them.

  • it seems like no matter how good a band sounds, if they sound too much like a legend(i.e. Dylan) they never make it big. they just stay in the shadow and get compared to the legend.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my God! Dylan and the Band have reincarnated, even before they've died....

  • my mouth aint fed and lips aint cherry red

and my grin might show my bad teeth

and the people i pass, they give me a glance

as if im some low class freak

but to you im fine and im in your mind

    even if im not around

    absolutely beautiful

  • Those are my absolute favorite lines. I love the part of the video around that time where Searcher is messing around with Christmas. They are just such nice guys.

  • what else is missing... these men are bravery and poetry. never seen such honesty on video

  • This sounds more like Bob Dylan than Jacob Dylan ;)

  • haha, that's just what i thought, the singer is for sure a huge fan of bob dylan

  • haha. That was my very first thought. The second he started singing all I could think was "BOB DYLAN."

But that's a good thing because I'm a huge Dylan fan.

  • These guys are great, so talented and hell yeah bob dylan for vocals just close your eyes and hear dylan

  • I love this band the accordian player graduated from my school chapel field christian highschool

  • Simply a great band in concert...I highly recommend seeing them if you can.

  • Yeah there's really good. I saw them about a year ago. They where great, and it was a free show.

  • Great band but this sounds exactly like 'her eyes dart round.'

  • saw these guys in scotland, the nicest guys u will ever meet!

  • i love these guys they sound like a happy sparklehorse

  • with dylan on lead vocals!!

  • I like that description. Yes.

  • excellent song they sound like Dylan which is hard to say cause he is the GREATEST of all time but the felice brothers are great and are gonna be better great song so is Frankies gun best shit i heard in a long time

  • Could this really be the sweet grandkids of my former landlords? I'm so proud of you guys!

    Robin

  • Amazing, saw them at the 100 club last week and they were simply stunning!! Best band I've seen for years

  • such a good band !

  • Great Music...C U at the Bowery Ballroom 04122008

  • i was at that bowery show!! it was a saturday night...the night b4 was 2 shows in philly in a little room..all 3 shows fuckin' rocked!!

    best band in america today!!

croton on the hudson this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like his voice, the video really adds a certain feeling to the song aswell

  • this is really good it is quite similar to richmond fontaine.

  • if you like these guys, there are a couple bands in the UK who are great too - Oh Dear and Laetoli Steps. Pretty, pretty gooooood. Pre-tty ... Pre-tty....gooood..

  • thanks larry

  • Oh This songs brilliant. Heard it on the radio the other day

  • simone felice is so sexy.

  • Ok my dad said this when i was searching through youtube and found these guys

; "as a massive dylan fan, heard these guys and what a breath of fresh air. So many times have i heard an artist was influenced by dylan but weren't even close. When I first heard them I thought it was him, I will be buying all their stuff."

  • Their album Tonight at the Arizona is brilliant. Enjoy !!

  • I heard this band for the first time on the radio 2 days ago. They have to be the most refreshing new band ever... real music, unpretentious, fantastic !!

  • arizona is sweet album, but i reccon it don't do a kings shillin to the live show....this is england callin.....come on boys, git ur gear over here....I got a spare room!

  • Currently the best and most important band on this planet. Have the potential to be the next Dyaln and the band, they're that good. Truly gifted songwriter and a superb live act. If you never see these guys live, even once in your life, you will die with regret in your heart.

  • Yes they are very good, but no better than the likes of say Richmond Fontaine or a plethora of other stunning artists,to say they are the most important band on the planet is abject nonsense, however I guess your comment comes from the heart.

  • I love Richmond fontaine, band of horses,in fact loads of Americana and alt-country but turn your comment back on you,to comapre these with any of those bands is nonsense, not even close to being similar.Unless you see this band live it's difficult to understand why i said the comments i did. Like the comments ^^^ up there someone's dad said. Ian felice sounds and writes so much like an early Dylan it's unreal and for that alone they are the most important band right now.Trust me,they are.

  • i agree--all i can think of when i hear this is "the times they are-a changin." but does this make them the most important band right now? especially "for that alone?" i don't think that a reincarnation of a past revolutionary re-kindles the revolution. it has to change, evolve. if you want Dylan, listen to Dylan. if you want new music, listen to unique music. (by the way, i actually really dig this song.)

  • The reason i think they are the most important? Not because they sound like dylan it's because since Dylan came on the scene pretty much every band worth it's salt acknowledges him as the top man and no one has come close to matching him but now i feel we have a band who, from what i've heard so far are extremely close to matching early Dylan. If you have the brothers two now unavailable albums, 'Iantown' and 'through these reins' maybe you could see where i am coming from, especially on the former

  • hey, keep the ridiculous comparisons to a minimum, please. You are, as they say, jumping the shark a little too soon and a little too eagerly.

  • Great Song. Plan to see them in SF in a few weeks.

  • love them

  • i saw em last month.

  • Lucky enough to catch Felice Brothers show in Kilburn, London last month, astounding, blew everyone away

Lost Sons of Littlefield great too

  • Still loving all that they do. Seriously do yourself a favor and see them live.

  • Saw them twice. Once in Woodstock and a second time in DE. Their Woodstock show was amazing. The DE show they opened for Bright Eyes and only played for about 15 minutes. Do yourself a favor and catch them as a headliner. Very talented band!

  • Saw these guys in Rawchester opening for Bright Eyes on Thursday. I was very glad of it because they put on a great show and look forward to finding their recordings.

  • these guys are so kick ass. theyre from near where i live. I've never seen them but good friends of mine play shows with them once in a while.

  • I saw them last night at The Norva with Bright Eyes awesome show.

  • hey i'm seeing the felice brothers with bright eyes next week and i was curious how the felice brothers actually were cuz i've never heard of them before. i cant really decide from these vidoes but it seems like you enjoyed them?

  • Musically? Guthrie or Dylan perhaps.

Personally? I don't know them but I did get a chance to speak and they seem to be really good guys

Physically? The big man is James he plays accordian guitar and vocals

    Ian plays

  • guitar piano and vocals he is singing this song

Simone plays drums, guitar, and vocals

Christmas is the bass player he is the one with a soul patch and looks like soccer jersey towards the end of this

  • me too! the entire show was really good. im glad conner wasnt too drunk.

  • thanks for the info.. im really excited :-)

  • saw the same show at the norva. great show but i'm sad that i miised most of the felice bros outside sucking ash. from what i saw they are great especially while checking them out on youtube. Also connor rocked the place...loved it!

  • I heard them first on MySpace. They are really great and I love his voice. I must get their albums.

  • Heard these guys last night and bought two albums immediately. they are amazing. really super nice guys too

  • One of the best bands, I have heard in a long time!

  • Buy the album. Quite superb, rocking-chair, front porch, singalong folk country blues
