    it means simply "high plains" or "alps"... the song is actually a folk song ( türkü ), but like many such songs it has been found useful for holding marching rhythm at drills... these songs consist mostly of ambigious messages, in this case of both comical (e.g kidnapping the beloved neighborhood-girl) and serious elements, so the troops have sort of variation inbetween monotonous marching.
