I use the Roland GR-1 and the GR-20. The GR-1 has very warm sounds, and I can adjust the parameter settings to suit my tastes, like dropping the low E and A string two octaves to achieve that low -end piano sound. The GR-20 has new cool sounds like the saxophone, etc. which I use to 'blow the minds' of my audiences. Each unit is an 'all-in one' synth. I would use an external effects pedal or unit to achieve the other guitar sounds if I were you! RLD has a new synth! Check it out!
@georgesrechparis Thanks for writing. Actually, there are no 'beginning' guitar synths on the market that I an aware of. Roland has a line of guitar synths dating back at least 20 years or so. As far as I know, no other company has released an 'effects' unit that authentically mimics other instruments like Roland. Any of the G-R series is a great place to start, I use the GR-20 and the GR-1 together.
Very nice. Check out this video - Midi Guitar Introduction by Alex Fediakov

Great demo. But can you just use the midi output from the guitar to play a sound you have in your computer?

Wow, that's was very impressive!
I'm thinking to buy midi controller, which one would you recommend first (you said you use 2 kinds). What is the difference between them?
Are all the midi sounds included in the device, or you should buy them separately?
And the last question- does this unit they have "regular" guitar effects, like distortion, chorus, delay etc.?
Sorry for so many questions:)
Thanks in advance
