I agree with your rant. Ongoing was a real mess. There were times I enjoyed it, but that was later when Megatron came back just because he wanted to kill the humans.
Recently now we find out how the humans were able to beat the Transformers. Spike was dealing with Swindle of all characters.
I think ongoing would be better if IDW kept Simon Furman telling the stories. He knew how to keep the story at least consistant.

Was Swindle not feeding Hot Rod's ego by calling him Rodimus Prime?
I still say they should have done that thing where Bee is not confident of Drift, like he was in AHM, and he has to get past that as part of his takign leadership.
Already by throwing drift into the mix it would mean bumblebee would have to get over his own issues with him, and have made his mini far more interesting
