"Oh we rode the dusty trails together, at the Saturday morning picture show".
You have to be a certain age to relate to this line. There are no Saturday morning picture shows nowadays - only 24hr television and playstations, which can never be the same. Who can remember stumbling out of the cinema after a Saturday morning show, into the bright sunlight and waiting for your eyes to adjust to the brightness on the way home with your childhood friends?
@kevvy1908 true its a small crowd that can relate to this, but i think (and i may be wrong) this was written shortly after Trigger died as a tribute to him and all the other wonder horses on the silver screen.
i'm 28 but i grew up listening to my mom's stories and listening to her record albums and of course watching those old classic cowboys on cable. i know i'm a weird duck lol
@Dogote82 its more than a small crowd that can relate to this, i dont even really listen to country and i like this song. this song is not simply about a horse, its about its about childhood memories, and the loss of innocence associated with growing up.
I found this song last night. This song is great. One of the best country songs I've heard in several years. Tom is one of the greatest country musicians ever!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this song by Tom T Hall.I have been searching periodically to see if anyone has put this on YouTube and couldn't believe it when I saw it today....Love it so much, reminds me of when I was a child and I loved the Cowboy horses much more than the Cowboys..that changed when I got older !..but now I am back with the horses ! Poor Pinto, brings tears to my eyes and a smile to my face.
it's from the album 100 CHILDREN that was available at one time on CD combined with another Tom T album called I WITNESS LIFE. i don't think they're still in print. they may be available as MP3's but I hadn't checked.
