Scarlett Johansen doesn't have that innocent beauty that Michelle Williams does...Michelle also is very irish in appearance, which Marilyn was, and very pale. I could never see Johansen playing Marilyn...that would be over the top. Michelle is a perfect choice and how honored she must feel to play this role. I love "Norma Jean and Marilyn"...it's one of my favorites.

See, this is the problem that I have with fans about biopics. People start talking down immediately about the actor or actress picked to play the historical figure. Michelle Williams is a phenomenal actress and I have no doubt will do an extraordinary job. With that said, sometimes it's just better to pick a no name when doing biopics about some of the biggest historical figures because fans just won't buy a "movie star" as the lead.

Marilyn Monroe is a cultural icon. her hair, her clothes, her whole look, people want to copy it even today. you can't say the same with Hepburn or King George. i think it's going to be a good film, to see what she was like off-screen, cos not a lot of people had that interaction with her. the performance will be good. that being said, i think they could have found a great actress who resembled her more, seeing as how her look was was so important

They didn't cast the other actresses because they these women did satisfy the looks department to a certain extent, needed for marilyn's role, but michele williams is a more perfect fit to portray the more sensitve elements of marilyn's personality. So when's this movie releasing? I'm looking forward to watching michelle williams' acting and a non-trashy/less whore-like take on marilyn's character, but a more real her and what she was actually like in her personal life- vulnerable and lonely!

OMG!!! This movie is not about Emma it's about Marilyn Monroe! I know the actors are great but I'm seeing the film for Marilyn!! I hope people are going for the history of Marilyn and not just because of Emma. This is no offence and I have nothing against Emma I'm just saying.

i love michelle williams but so far of what i hear in this trailer, she doesn't sound like her, but she sure has marilyn's mannerisms down...i'm gonna read the book that this is based on but it looks good! branagh is a great casting choice! i like it cuz i love olivier & know he'll portray him well :)

Third of all, Kenneth Branagh as Lawrence Olivier is a brilliant casting choice.

They didn't cast the other actresses because they these women did satisfy the looks department to a certain extent, needed for marilyn's role, but michele williams is a more perfect fit to portray the more sensitve elements of marilyn's personality. So when's this movie releasing? I'm looking forward to watching michelle williams' acting and a non-trashy/less whore-like take on marilyn's character, but a more real her and what she was actually like in her personal life- vulnerable and lonely!

@Ksywaa I assume your post is attempting to say people are going to watch the film because Emma Watson is in it. Clearly this isn't their marketing gimmick as you suggest, otherwise they would have given her more than one line in the trailer.
