The way I see it is it's not so much changing one's way of thinking, ie how you feel and relate to your fellow man, the values you hold true, its that those things DON'T CHANGE after removing a god from the equation. If you love your neighbor, if you respect what we call human rights and you find rewards in mutual respect then nothing will change that. All that changes is self identification from the spiritual to earthly but the fundamentals of the individual remain firmly intact without a god.

Man, your black ass got "TURNT" out for that exact reason. YOU'RE BLACK ! Us civilized white people don't want to hear about your black devil religion. If I was walking down the street in Cali, and saw you, I would punch you in your head and crush your glasses, because they're shit. And you have a fuckin' coconut for a head. No ones knows who you're talking about because no ones cares for you black people. WHITE POWER ! HEY TYRONE, WHAS MY CLOTHES. You got a card ? GIVE IT BACK.
to me is when you go to a party or something thinking that you are the baddest thang around and you run up on someone who is clearly badder than you!! you got "turned out" and in some cases it can leave a person all messed up in the head like their worldview was just turned upside down...
(I 'm with neuronstorm) I saw this video listed in my subscriptions and I thought how dare they turn you out!!??! Not only is that stupid, but it's very unatheist.
Turns out "turnt out" turned out to be something else.
Thanks Jeffery - new to your channel, appreciate your tone, how you share your thinking & your emotion.
You spoke about the feeling of camaraderie, ("fellowship"?) after the meeting, reminding me of what my dad would say after church. Maybe that's the common ground between the religious folks and the non-believers. We share the need for community & shared exposure to higher principles. The search for spiritual guidance is universal, tolerance for a different path is less common.
usually, it's used in reference to converting an otherwise upstanding woman to a sex trade lifestyle (make her a prostitute) or what a man does in prison to another man of lesser strength or social standing (prison rape).
Hello PFUNK1....I just got home from the conference, and feel much like you do. It was exciting and inspiring! The Atheist and Humanist communities are largely white and older. This needs to change. We need to reach out to everyone with a secular point of view, and I think we (us white folk) need to pay particular attention to ethnic minority groups who believe as we do, but for a variety of reasons, are not getting connected to our many and varied atheist and freethinking groups!
And, isn't it about drawing those folks out into the light to see what faith in humanity is against faith that a deity will torture people for ever? That is, ideology. The thinking must change or they will not be drawn out.
It is much like a drug addiction, you can't simply replace a substance abuse with another, though I do agree that perhaps we can help them by "winging" them off of it, they must within their own minds be willing to let it go.
And yes, I am saying that religion is an addiction of a sort.
Every deconverted strong atheist that I've talked to, disillusioned through their own personal reasoning some with asistance, some without.
It is EXACTLY like a drug addiction. THIS is why finding Jesus is part of the 12 step program(finding a higher power) it lets them CONTINUE to NOT take responsibility for their actions because "it is part of Gods plan" for them to do what they do. It replaces one drug with the drug of religion. Which is a bad thing.
Gotta love the cocky born again christians. I cant blame them, they just found out that society forgives rape, pillage and plunder if only you find jesus in the end.
I agree ..but I think Atheism , Agnosticism will be full of idiots if we would somehow convince them to just leave their faith in god. Most atheists agnostics like me left the faith becouse of science and doing Research. Yet there are very inteligent people among religious groups that have talent to convince others why its worth to believe in god. In my opinion we should just leave religion just limit their political power.
I think we need to teach critical thinking at a young age. I think there are probably lots of intelligent religious folk that are just stifled by their religious filter. Teach them how to think, and their world would open up. But probably easier said than done.
If you ever need a boost of self-confidence, you could always point out that you are/were/will always be the first atheist vid on youtube. Atheist Walking is the defining video for us for a reason.:) We love you, man.
Thanks for the update bro. Wish I could join you. I am a human with brown skin, as i like to say and i am excited also. Please ask the two speakers this question. What roles do stations like BET have on the black community? Negative videos and disgraced Televangelist always seem to find a home on BET. Think Peter Poppoff, Beni Hinn and the like.
Cool .

Thanks for recording this. It's great to hear your reaction. Sikivu Hutchinson posts some of her writing on her journal on Atheist Nexus.

I'm having trouble with the slang 'I got turnt out'.
At first I thought it meant you got physically thrown out of the venue.. but I'm guessing that's not it..
Translation?

I watched Sikivu's talk as well and it certainly gave me food for thought!
...and I can relate to the excitement!

Good to see you in video again,
Are you trying to say, "draw them out". ?
And, isn't it about drawing those folks out into the light to see what faith in humanity is against faith that a deity will torture people for ever? That is, ideology. The thinking must change or they will not be drawn out.

It was fun to see how excited you were to have met people who think just as you do. Maybe this is what you have been missing?
This is such a contrast to some of your videos last year where you seemed to be quite low.
Enjoy it all!

I did not know that Mr. Deity(Brian Keith Dalton) was an atheist. I just figured that he produced a funny web-based show.
