Machine head are GREAT, but for me, Slayer have never once let me down and I prefer their stuff. Yes, I love every single Slayer album whereas I only like Burn My Eyes by machine head.
Metal doesn't give a damn about the Grammys so it should be a platform to reward the best metal bands irrespective of whether their last album was their best or not. You can't begrudge Slayer's legacy or giving them as much press as they can get because they are one of the best.
I can't help but feel like the grammy's are a fcking joke in terms of metal music. If the grammy's were for real Machine Head's Aesthetics of Hate would've won without a doubt.
Far from it. I fcking love Slayer but let's be honest, have they really been putting out barn-burners with their last few records? Face it, their last "classic" album was Seasons in the Abyss (although imo Divine Intervention was pretty decent in its own right). They make solid, enjoyable albums nowadays but none of the Big 4 make relevant records like they used to (which is only natural seeing as how some of them are approaching the ends of their careers).

They've been coasting along the metal scene on their popularity (like Metallica and Megadeth) but they're way past prime. None of Slayer's last 4 albums can touch The Blackening (the MoP of this generation).

There's nothing wrong with thanking your family. Also, those who helped produce the album are partly responsible for the end product therfore they are entilted to what they deserve. Whether or not the producer improved the sound I don't know, but IF he helped make the album sound better which resulted in an increase of revenue then the producer also deserve due credit.

if metallica would not be mainstream then sorry more than half of the metal fans could not even know if the genre existed although with release of death magnetic and those 8 minutes long songs i dont think they are on that mainstream pathway and moreover touring with slayer ,anthrax and megadeth...big four for life love u allll............

@hunterhearsthelmsy please don't pick to much on metallica, they made Thrash Metal really work by creating brilliant Metal-Milestones like kill em all and master of puppets. But I agree that it was a big mistake to keep on doing shit after Clifford died, they totally changed their image and should have done it like Pantera did: Split the band after tragic accidents happened.

I love Slayer and if it wasn't for their album Reign In Blood I would have never loved them and how they keep bringing us great music that the band loves which lets us know that because they love it they know we'll love it too,Im a Christian and I never like it when people say that its wrong that I listen to Slayer mostly because they dont affect my beliefs,Its music and without Slayer I wouldnt wanna make my life music by becoming a music producer(in 5 years[im 18]the timing needs to be right)

There's nothing wrong with thanking your family. Also, those who helped produce the album are partly responsible for the end product therfore they are entilted to what they deserve. Whether or not the producer improved the sound I don't know, but IF he helped make the album sound better which resulted in an increase of revenue then the producer also deserve due credit.

This award sucks. seriously. how the fuck did metallica win a grammy for best 'metal' performance with st. anger. At least in 2011, 3 of my favorite metal bands (Maiden, Slayer and 'Deth) are nominated. I really want either maiden or megadeth to win it. they deserve it, unlike other bands like slipknot
