Life is full of risks and you don't see people shying away from the world because they *might* get run over if they cross the road.
I don't encourage people into these places as you seem to suggest, people can make their own minds up what they choose to do and I don't feel responsible for their actions even if seeing some of my photos or seeing this film has given them the idea to go out there and visit a derelict site.
I know commonsense is lacking in the majority of society, especially the nanny state troopers who insist we should wrap everyone in cotton wool and ban everything as it *might* be dangerous.
i seen ghost or what ever maybe trick on eyes in old cttage long demolished in tollesby lane in middlesbrough the cotage still had bits of furniture in what ever i seen sem to pass kitchen door my mate eddie wet himself bless him he died 2 years later but was closer than me and he swore it were not someone running out.
Brilliant! I used to do this when I was younger, but I quickly ran out of places to go, but it was really fun to be in places and imagine what might have gone on within those walls. I love the derelict look; decay is just so beautiful especially at sunrise. When I worked as a builders laborer I used to go into old farms, schools and one time even a hospital! the old morgue sent a shiver down my spine 8D
too bad I didn't have a camera then, it would've made a great vid.
hmm not great to encourage people to venture in to derelict buildings (especially kids?) as you highlighted in the vid, fungus, asbestos, and dangerous structural damage which you say 'adds to the experience, this is a good video, but its misguided, its wrong to encourage people in to dangerous places, you can do it all you like but I think you should highlight the dangers rather than glamourise them as a 'rush' dude.
Where do we actively encourage anyone to enter these buildings? In the film, I talk about my experiences of a hobby that I enjoy and also highlight some of the dangers. The video footage itself shows the condition that these buildings can sometimes be in and people should learn to take responsibility for thier own actions if they choose to enter a derelict building.
When i was in my twenties, i used to do the same sort of thing, it was a big buz going in a place on your own as the unknown aspect of threat percieved and the obvious left me feeling stoked. It was exiting and at the same time terifying, used to leave me buzzing and feeling somewhat intrepid . Cheers mate good effort.
use to do as kid done a bit when i was in my twentys 55 now nice to see young people doing it without wanting to damage or burn it down, stopped doing it as i got older have you ever seen a ghoust or what you could not explain i did
Great Video, how many sites feature in the film? some of the buildings look really imposing, shame they will be gerring less and less as housing takes over.
Okay this could have been maybe a little interesting but they are being WAY TO FUCKING ARTSY about it. The music does not fit and the cheap "special effects" with the camera are over the top and unnecessary.
You're wrong. I made it all on my own. The idea with the "special effects" and music was to endow the piece with the atmosphere of the site, to over exaggerate the feeling of the place as well as make it feel a little surreal.
Honestly I would have no idea on how to any of the things with the camera that you did nor the talent to compose the music. I also respect your disregard for trespassing violations because in reality who would you be hurting? I cant answer how I would treat the subject at all. I just thought that the color shading quasi horror/mystery movie theme were overdone.
I have been doing this since I was a kid I,m 48 now... old race courses derilict houses, factories, mills, hospitals factories even sewers. I love it but don't really fully understand why.... as kids we somtimes took the scrap metal out of these buidings but I dont bother with that now!
I know exactly the feeling! There is an old gun emplacement at Seaview on the Isle of Wight that I used to explore as a kid (1972). The eerie feeling was one thing but the stimulation to your imagination was incredible.
childhood game turned adult hobby and still as exiting and appealing. the mystery and thrill of maybe getting caught or finding something really neat or cool.Seeing the tools and practices we've abandoned along with these places. very cool!
I have always wanted to explor abandon buildings but never have because i thought i was the only one interested. I never knew there are people who do this regurally. Good camera angles and footage
There is a Belgian guy who does this and post on Yahoo. Although he does industrial buildings. Most of the UK's have gone. This looks like a Victorian former mental hospital. Which would have a lot of memories, some bad ones especially from its earlier existence. Good though.
Brilliant, awesome and atmospheric, well done lads. Thank you for respecting the place and its inhabitants who deserve the utmost respect, as this was their home. I paced these corridoors for 2 years between 1986 and 1988 when I worked on night duty there. Many memories. looking at your video brings them all back.Lol Butterfield RMN.
wow guys! do i spy whittingham hospital? i too have been doing a little urban exploration for my fine art degree and i just loive this place! its a shame they were gonna tear it down and build crappy houses! but recently there have been talks of reopening it as a mental hospital again...though with all new buildings i bet!
Nah, I thought you explained it well, keep it up!
