This is not one of the greatest moments in TV history, it is the greatest moment in TV history. To understand this clip you must combine thoughts of the Cold War, coming to terms with Nam and America as a force for justice in the world.
Netflix has every episode of Magnum on DVD & their only $10 a month! Ive been watching & recording them on my harddrive. Otherwise Amazon sells the whole series for like $300
@msk7046 While trying to murder Magnum he killed Mac instead all this after he had tortured Magnum and TC while they were POW's he also murdered brutally other POW's. He had it coming.
This episode, and Memories are forever from season two are my favourites. And since they are both double episodes they are both two of my favourite movies.
Amen....wouldn't that be awesome to see the ORIGINAL cast in a movie.......even today......I would love to see where they would have taken the characters. I would love to see Magnum as a retired Admiral (since some may recall that he rejoined the Navy in the final episode). Higgins aka Robin Masters, Maybe TC and RIck become civilian contract mercenaries in the Iraq or Afghan War.
MY GOD, what ana amazing ending that was! I remember seeing that the first time it aired as a kid. My brother andI were yelling at the screen for him to plug Ivan. It looked like hewas going to let him go but man, nobody could have guessed the episode would end like that. All these years later, nobody's been able to end ANY show like that one did.
Great job posting this. Thanks, haven't seen this in years!
they always get some handsome tall swede to play the russian bad guy like dolph lundgren in rocky, who coincidentally was also a champion judo fighter like bo svenson here.
Ivan the russian guy blew up magnums ferrari earlier killing a friend of magnums in the car, just before the car blew up he said "we should go up to polly lookout and watch the sunrise" and then the car blew up as he started it.
I STILL remember that moment in time when I first saw this on its' first airing. Its one of those moments like the ending of "inner light" STNG or "Baby Blues" on Miami Vice where you just went "woh!"
@samspayed My best friend & I watched the show on a regular basis. I have to admit, the ending of this scene caught us both off guard. But Ivan had it coming!
This was the first episode I ever saw I was stationed in the Philippines and was at a party when Magnum shot Ivan I jumped up with joy, I never expected to see a hero shoot his adversary in cold blood .Everyone at the party looked at me in surprise
without a doubt, the best Magnum P.I. episode ever. I remember when it aired, you new as soon as he asked the question, he was going to do it. Blew me away, it was awesome!
Best episode ending ever. Magnum kills Ivan in cold blood.... That's what made this show so awesome. Magnum was playful, but knew when to use deadly force to get things done.
Great ending, one of the best ones ever. TV doesn't have those kinds of balls anymore. "Oh, you can't kill someone like that. People will be offended." BS. That ending rocks!
This was the best episode of Magnum ever. Actually it was the 2nd part of a double episode. Mac "I think his name was" was blown up in the Ferrari in the previous episode.
As a kid we did not have a video recorder, so I recorded this whole episode on a tape recorder. I still have it somewhere. I used to play the recording and see the scene in my head. This is the 1st time I have seen this scene in 25+ years. Thanks
this ending caused a controversy back then because magnum killed ivan in COLD BLOOD. it was a dramatic ending! they sure dont make tv like then used to..everything now is so dumbed down i have all 8 seasons on dvd, and this show never gets old.
but if you saw this episode and saw what ivan did to T.C. ivan had it coming!
This is one of the only scenes that really stuck with me from the series. I don't know what it was about it but it just struck a cord. This was so well done!
I can't believe this aired 26 years ago. That scene stayed with me since I saw it on it's first run. Genius moment in an outstanding series. Sheer quality.
this was a great scene no doubt, one of my favs from the series. but there was another one and i may have this messed up in my mind, so someone correct me if wrong, please! but in the episode where the cast goes back to Vietnam and as they are coming down a river on a boat all camo'ed out and loaded for Charlie. i think it was Cream's White Room playing in the background? or was it a CCR tune? anyway, that scene had a numbing effect upon myself! hope i didn't mess it up too bad from memory?
Yeah, that was with Robert Forster. They went back to Vietnam to find JJ Quincannon. It was a 2 parter. Higgins got shot and had to have a blood transfusion via a bamboo straw. Can't remember what season that was.
God I love this show. This was a great scene. Tom Selleck rules! I hear they're making a Magnum movie with Matthew McConaughey. Um no thanks. I'd much rather see a a Magnum movie with Tom and the rest of the group reunited today! There's only one Thomas Magnum and that's Tom Selleck!
Agreed... a moment I remember well. What an episode. The only other scene that was even close was the episode when Michelle came back for the 1st time and there was the shootout in little Hanoi that mirrored the dream he had earlier in the episode. Is that anywhere on YouTube?!
thank you for this. this is the most bad ass scene they ever did for the show. it doesn't seem like much compared to TV today, but it was very dark for its time.
Thank you for posting this clip. Very powerful. To those not familar with this scene, it would be worth the time/efford to obtain and view the entire episode.
Wow, I thought I was the only wierdo who has loved this seen since 85' (or whenever it was aired). I swear this ending scene has played in my mind countless times over the last 20 or so years. That's what you call powerful T.V.
One of the most intense moments on Magnum. I remember watching it the first time and it still sends chills up and down my spine. Magnum was a great show and Selleck is still going stong.

So true. Today, some heroes seems worst than the evil guys and gals. I don't watch most of today movies and Tv.
And I kept away from my kid(s) most of it , even kids-programs. Some are horrible, but in kid "format".
