@kevin71127 - well I have had Cintiq only for a month to test it out. But for my regular painting process I use an Intuos 4 M - and I'm still being amazed by it's quality and functionality :) And you can have it for a way more better price ;)
@kevin71127 - well the paper doesn't get warm when you draw ;) The Cintiq does. And The surface of the Cintiq is quite different from the paper's surface - but no matter what - painting with Cintiq is reaaaally fabulous :)
@kevin71127 The main difference that really stood out to me when i started using them was the fact there was not much friction and felt like the drawing equivalent playing football of roller skates but once you get used to the extra sensitivity its is really rewarding and it pros far outway the cons
@kervin3233 congrats! lol I am going to start saving this summer. I really want this! It would make me more happy! I just want to set up my drawing studio. Anyways I am jealous and happy that you are so close! ENJOY!
hi I really wanna ask: is the program photoshop ? or a built in software ? if so, how does it work ? Is the touch accurate ? does the draw have delays ? (for example with a slow computer the effect of a smudge tool is delayed if the brush size is big). Or are there any disadvantages compared to a normal tablet ? sorry for the many questions. regards
@joelstutz - Nope, this software is Corel Painter X, it works almost like Photoshop, but it's designed to imitate natural media - such as Pastels or Oils. It has some delays when working with big file and big size of brushes - but I assume that my computer is quite old - so it might be a problem. I`m glad I could help :)
@TheMishaart its really all about taste right? cause i got sketchbookpro but also like photoshop xP. Dont have the cintiq though, too expesive for a 17 year old student =S Is there a tablet kinda like this but with a more reasonable price? i want to actually see what im drawing on the tablet and not just blackscreen like others. Please help? thanks
@DTProtoss - actually it's not confusing at all because the working space of tablet is strongly connected to the screen of your monitor. It's like - top right corner of tablet - points at top right corner of monitor.
And ofc you always have a coursor ;)
believe me - it takes like 2-5mins to get used to drawing with regular tablet :)
@azzurres1 - there is a lot of easier and less expensive solutions. Me for example - I use a Wacom Intuos4 M tablet, but - if you are a beginner - you shold consider a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch - because it's very cheap and also very good :)
Cintiq... Well this one is designed for professional guys who earn a lot of cash with their drawings ;)
@TheMishaart so this is the case, as i am working as a artist for a game developer i wonder if my workflow will be more efficient with this. how about a comparison to my intuos 4m? and.. how is it drawing many hours on the cintiq, isnt it more comfortable with a intuos? there is no chance for testing it for me right now.. so right now i am collecting opinions about it..
@azzurres1 - working with Cintiq feels more natural - because you draw on a screen watching it at the same time. With Intuos - you have to look at a monitor and draw on the desk. Many people get frustrated because of that - and that's why Wacom came out with Cintiq tablets (in my opinion). But... I believe that working many hours on CIntiq will be more comfortable than with Intuos. Cintiq is adjustable :)
I've been told that the Cintiq becomes too hot for comfort after a while, is this true? is it only a problem if you hold it in your lap? I would assume on the original stand, no heat should be felt on the screen itself...
@otas32 - Yes, it gets hot and I would recommend a glove (smudge guard) for it - on only because of the temperature - but also because it's more comfortable to work with glove on that screen - you don't leave any smudges on it ;)
HELP! I spilled a half of a cup of water on my desk and at the same time knocked my Wacom pen off its holder into the pool of water! The tablet itself did not get wet but the pen got wet! The next day I dried the pen off, and tried it. And the pen part would not work at all. but the eraser part would work normal What should I do ???
@TheMishaart cool, I guess you can't use it on your lap? it looks as thick as a monitor so I figure you need to be at a desk? I don't tend to work much at a desk so this is a bummer
@artwel123 - well you can connect this to lap :) but still it's a big screen and it weights 10kg so it's kind a hard to have it on your knees for example ;)
Don't think I would like one of these with a 550:1 contrast ratio, all it'd be good for is lineart without some long winded work around, I'll stick with my intuos and 2700:1 screen, however nice painting ^^
@AegisKleais - well nibs won't scratch it cause are made of some sort of plastic ;) But hmm yeah, ring or sth like that could damage it... Better avoid wearing a ring while drawing ;)
@AegisKleais - how is it possible not to know the best brand in the LCD screens for professional computer graphics :D google EIZO ;)
And for the glass - I believe that this part is made by Wacom - and I didn't notice any scratches during my 1-month testing time of Cintiq ;) - and I was drawing every day on it ;)
i've ordered the 21 ux and it should arrive this week. I have an 21ins imac with a core duo processor and 4gb of ram, and a 64 bit quad core pc also with 4gb of ram. Do you know which computer i should hook the cintiq up to. I kinda new to this stuff (digital art) and am still learnin but want the cintiq to run as smooth as possible. Thanx in advance :)
@CoolG777 - Well Cintiq is almost a regular monitor - but with possibility for drawing directly on it :)
I would hook the cintiq up to iMac (I understand that the other one is a PC) cause Photoshop works better on iMac in general (well at least I've read a lot about it - can't test it, cause I cannot afford the iMac or the Cintiq as well...)
@AegisKleais i don't foresee these dropping in price for a new one (i mean, the old first generation is still 2k years later). once stock is back in maybe the DTK2100 will go down a bit used, but i wouldn't hold my breath.
@linglingturbo You can go on Amazon.com and find these, and there website. But let me tell you, these things cost $2,000. So if you plan on buying it, have the money.
Lovely work! Question though: Do you notice a bad lag between making a mark and the mark appearing on the Cintiq? That's something that worries me. I don't want to drop 2Gs on a Cintiq if there's going to be a horrendous lag. That's really my only major hangup.
@TheMishaart I'm glad to hear that because in a lot of Cintiq vids, I see really bad lag between stroke-making and the stroke appearing on screen. I think that would drive me nuts and 2 Gs is a LOT to drop on something that would drive me nuts.
@pinkpokadots321 - this is Corel Painter X and I`m not sure if it comes with tablet... I got only the hardware to test, but you can go to the Wacom website and check out what the package includes ;)
Awesome picture for just 25 minutes of work. I'm in the market for a graphics tablet to make my graphic work easier to do and in less time. I was thinking of purchasing this one but I'm not sure, it's quite a big price tag. Do you suppose this could be used with a laptop? My laptop's pretty new, got it a couple of months ago.
@Mellowdazezical - well IMO better choice is the Wacom Intuos4 M... it's a lot cheaper and gives a lot of posibilities and great fun from working. I`m using it right now and it's an amazing toy :)
@miro995 - actually I don't have Cintiq but when I had it for testing - the heat was kind a pain in the ass... especially if you wear a glove - your hand gets very very warm after 1-2 hours of drawing
@TheMishaart what?! but why?!!! that must have felt horrible my kitty was just taken wawy from me by my parents cause it had a disease so yeah i feel ur pain T^T

@mat4i - to nie jest filmik o tym jak cos rysowac :) tylko o tym jak wyglada rysowanie na Cintiq'u. Obrazek finalny mi sie nie podobal i polecial do kosza :P
@bruceaveryfilms - I find it very handful, the working space is huge (I own an Inuos4 M - there's no comparison if it comes to it), 16 programable buttons and two touch strips which can work in 4 different ways each - it's amazing.
If there's a lag on the pen - I can't spot it... It seems like it's working as fast as Intuos4.
@Matsw007 - This hardware is not like iPad at all. It works with PC or Mac and is to be connected via USB and Graphic bus (DVI od D-SUB). It's the highest model of drawing tablets by Wacom and it's veeery expensive... in Europe the price is 2.000Euro...
Does this wok on Mac?

what do you think? 24HD and have the extra res and size OR this and have the rotation function on the screen? trying to decide when to get atm
faenor 6 days ago
@faenor - I would prefer rotating over the extra size :) And that is also a smaller price - at least here in my country :)

would you consider this to be better for drawing than say an Intuos tablet?

@DTProtoss - well There's a Cintiq 12WX - but it ain't a cheap one either...
Personally I work on an Intuos4 M - and it's fabulous - and 3c cheaper than Cintiq 12WX - not mention the 21UX I was testing ;)
I know it's not a screen tablet - but it works very good for me ;)
TheMishaart 10 months ago
@TheMishaart hmmm but isnt it wierd? dont you get confused where your pen was when you finished drawing and things like that?
