... more facts. People - on a whole - see the negative rather than positive. Rate my Teacher is just another lever to bash on teachers. More facts: Students that you are tough with thanked you years later - but will hate you while you teach them. Go figure the validity of their comments. Then ther is the whole notion of politics.. Personal attacks are common on this site. A modern day Salem's lot. The laws are changing and getting tougher with guys like Hussey. GOOD ! What
Two types of raters: Love their teacher/Hate their teacher. Quite a few ratings include personal comments that attack the teacher personally instead of rating the course. The best way to rate a teacher is to check out his/her class before you sign up, listen in on the lecture and then ask students as they leave. That's how I found the best teacher I've ever had.
Here are the facts: The 70 % ratio is bullshit. Closer to 50 %. Then the bad ratings aim at the more vulnerable: Sub-teachers, contract teachers, new, young, etc. The enriched classes and the elite groups seldom complain. They Praise. All the garbage comes from the tough, regular groups...
@pierre766 This is true. It is really nefarious. And negative or positive, public ratings are simply not fair. The interveiwer actaully asks good questions re: "rate my students."
I love how this guy sugar coats the whole thing. In the end, basically it is just an outlet for pissed off students, no shame in that. That's what I do.
Michael Hussey is my hero. For this guy I can honestly rate my BAD/GOOd teachers honestly and let others know who to avoid and who to take.
