  • hey awesome mod thanks alot!! hey whats the music that starts at 3:00?

  • Does 6:20 happen a lot, even with Sanwa Joysticks?

  • Comment removed

  • Good choice of music. :3 And nice fight stick.

  • lol end

  • Thanks for the video. I got my joystick modded more than half a year ago and didn't thank you for the tutorial. Do u know how many dam times i watched your video ....ha but alas my endeavor was successful and the stick and buttons still good as new.

  • @mrdoit911 Thanks! Glad i could help.

  • did you use pliers to take out the wires or just ur hands once you removed the sleeves ive heard couple people saying they used pliers and otehrs saying dont cuz you'll pinch them just try to get them out with ur fingers, (apparently the first time you take the wires out, its very hard)

  • DOES THIS WORK WITH THE JLW TOO OR IS THERE EXTRA STEPS??

  • Hey i cant take off the ball. the thing just spins. and it seems like the stick and ball are connected.

Yeah they are connected. When i spin the screw and hold the ball im messing up the screw itself. What do i do now?

  • Hey i cant take off the ball. the thing just spins. and it seems like the stick and ball are connected

  • I have seen some Tournament edition for xbox 360 on amazon and ebay for usa shipment but nothing on amazon.ca or ebay.ca. I canot find any tournament edition in Canada for xbox 360. I have found some for ps3 but I play street fighter on pc and I heard that the ps3 stick had problem working on pc. Xbox 360 work fine on pc aparently. I guess i will have to buy that cheap one and modified it.

  • how long did it take for your shipment to arrive?

  • How much all those snawa buttons and the joystick costs??? Whats the cheapest price to buy them for? Im not looking to spend no damn $50 dollars on these parts if I bought the S.E Stick itself for $50.

Any one has a cheap link to buy them from?

  • @Mitsu25fwd Good luck finding them cheaper. To do this you're going to have to spend around $50. At this point you shouldn't be buying anything other than a TE anyway...this mod isn't worth the money anymore now that TE's are so easy to find at less then $100.

  • @Veri7as you've got to be kidding me, I can't find a 360 TE anywhere.

  • @MrSneakmind Well Evo just happened. I'm sure everyone sold out of them because everyone was looking to pick one up. Wait a bit.

  • @Veri7as TE's have been sold out for MONTHS :/ I've been looking since like february...

but I got super lucky today and Amazon restocked on some TE's and I was able to pick up a Street fighter IV black Te for around 150 SO FUCKING HAPPY :D can't wait!

  • Do you know of any cheaper fightsticks available? I'm trying not to pay more than £60-70 it may be very unlikely

  • Can you mod a hori arcade stick. I just gotine a few weeks ago and it's not very responsive. And I really want to change all the parts.

  • @Veri7as Hello, first of all thanks for the guide...can you tell me what you did between 6:00 and 7:00? I see the difference between the old ruined pcb and the new one but i don't understand what you've done to the stick.

  • WAS THAT STAR FOX MUSIC AT THE END???? HOLY SHIT

  • Can anyone tell me if the Sanwa parts will improve the stick? I mean, I could buy it, but is it worth it like, do I need to replace it again in the future? I'm using SFIV SE stick.

  • @NeedaBettrName Since you're using the SFIV SE stick (which comes with imitation parts), it is well worth it to buy Sanwa pushbuttons/joystick. They are much more responsive and definitely feel a lot better. The stock pushbuttons/joystick aren't very responsive or durable. They get worse with more use.

Sanwas are of a lot better quality, which is why they are used in Japanese arcades (in addition to Seimitsu). Well worth it, especially if you use your stick a lot for fighting games.

  • I'm looking to buy this stick but don't have the money to buy these parts. Can't I just glue the wobbly thing down to stop the scratching of the pcb on the stick?

  • i love you

  • Could I just buy the octagonal gate for this fightstick? The joystick you reccomend is out of stock.

  • I know everyone recommends a JLF-TP-8YT-SK stick, but with a JLF-TP-8YT work?

  • you're the man, i was actually wondering if we can mod this fightstick and how easy would it be.

    thanks!

  • Modding your first stick will make it 1000% more playable than it is stock. It will get you over until you can buy a TE.

  • cool vid, my buttons are starting to not work...and i also want to change the stick, but it will cost me about 40 or 50$ to mod and i paid 50$ for the stick, i dunno if i should mod or buy a new stick...

  • @Daren2007 You should just buy a new stick, keep your original one for experimenting or so that you can fix it later.

  • @clerk123 the thing is i have 2 sticks, one a se fightstick and a hori ex2 stick. Changing the button look easy, but the joystick look confusing.

  • @Daren2007 Ah yeah I know what you mean. The Ex2's joystick is weird. I wouldn't know how to mess with it. I say leave it as is. Should you atleast want to change from the square gate to the octagonal gate you can though, you just have to make a few adjustments to the Octagonal gate by drilling some holes on it. You can Youtube all of that stuff though. ;)

  • it's too bad they're all out of stock on their website, lol if i found this channel a lot sooner.....darn it

  • I think the hardest part of this tutorial is getting the fucking restrictor plate off. T_T

  • @Veri7as hey man i modded just like u did in this video, the buttons are fine but the stick isnt working...

it was not working before thats why i modded, but after i changed it , it's still not working.

do you know whats going or if i'm doing something wrong!?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm thinking about buying this stick modded w/ sanwa parts for $65. Is this stick (with sanwa mods) just as good as the stock TE stick?

  • @jlubsey TE stick comes with Sanwa parts, probably the same ones he's put in. So yeah it turns your SE into a TE minus the housing.

  • what are the wires that are connected to the buttons called? just wires?

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BALLTOP IS LOOSE

  • hey i just got this stick and i rlly dont want to pay 40 dollars for new parts is really that bad?

  • How long did u wait to receive the package?

  • i have te fightstick and i notice that the joystick is nonresponsive if i replace the joystick with a new sanwa jlf joystick is there anything special that needs to be done to it.

  • im not tryin to be a smart ass or nothin but i'd actually like to know if u think it would work wen u first buy it to just glue the washer before using it?

  • Hey, I'm thinking about modding my joystick, but I prefer the Happ Controls Comp/360 sticks to the japanese lollipop/square gates. Do you have an experience with them? I'm gonna have to splice the wire harness, but I'm just not sure whether the holes for the screws (where the joystick mounts to the box) will match up.

  • dude plz, i need the freakin button sizes..

  • If you buy a brand new SE stick couldn't you just glue down the washer in the first place and save ordering all the parts? And are the buttons really that bad?

  • @ExtinctSlayer Why don't you buy one and tell us.

  • @Veri7as so these sanwa buttons are are better than the madcatz original buttons?

  • @ExtinctSlayer The buttons really ARE that bad. I have both the SE stick and the TE stick (modding my SE stick currently) and let me tell you the sanwa parts are WELL WORTH IT.

  • @ExtinctSlayer The buttons are quite terrible. I've had my SE Fightstick for about a month and a good portion of my buttons stick.

  • 1.Please I really want to know what screwdriver you used.

Because I tried at home to open my SSFIV SE fightstick and I couldn't I don't want to damage my screw anymore. Thank for the video its well explained and show the reason WHY we should change this Joystick.

Theres is just a part that I doesn't understand,

    2. Why we need to glue the Washer on the mounting plate?

    3. Does the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK washer need to be glued

    4. Its it possible to unglue if I make a mistake.what glue u used.

  • Anyone know where I can get a sanwa stick? The one that I need is sold out on Lizard Lick, so any more websites where I can get one?

  • i dont get whats so flashy about replacing the buttons..

  • @certainkill94 The stock buttons are shit and break easily, he's switching them to sanwa buttons, buttons used in actual arcade cabinets.

  • Is this Guilty gear music?

  • yeah the music in the back was bad news. thats a crazy flaw with that washer deal, its good to know before i buy a stick =) im really new to the street fighter scene so i gotta ask why the buttons and stick is so bad and why do i need to replace them all?? =o thanks

  • Sweet man!

  • hey man this sht is sick, ive been looking up all kinds of videos cause im getting a stick soon, i cant wait. good work man and thanks.

  • @maaannnnnyyy me to mate me two ps3 if so add me zzirAquila

  • @YarYar01 honestly it would be easier if you add me...ish, O_o my id is Maniac--Manny

hit me up for some games bro.

  • hey man this sht is sick, ive been looking up all kinds of videos cause im getting a stick soon, i cant wait.

  • Nice vid cept the music in the background made it hard to hear ya but still thanks.

  • these parts worth it to buy or wa? does it actually make a difference in gameplay... thnx...

  • Does this also work on the 360 SE?

(In terms of the models of the pushbuttons and joystick)

And are they the 30mm Snap-Ins?

    Thanks.

  • i hate to say that my jab button for my te is not responding like it used to 150 and it still screws up what a rip

  • neerd!!

  • im hopeing to do this soon to mine

  • Comment removed

  • favorited, I'll be referring to this when my order comes in :D

Will it make me a better Street Fighter player? lol j/k

This will be sweet to have for my classes' Friday night Street Fighter get togethers XD I hope this thing is durable

  • hey nice vid dude, thanks for being so detailed

  • hey what if my joystick always likes spins off how do i fix that problem like do i open it up and tighten the joystick like u unscrewed it?

  • So when you rotate the connector, It doesnt change the up down orientation on the joystick ? Or is the connector always the same direction on the joystick and its just a matter of turnign it to make space?

  • Damn, almost all Sanwa joysticks are out of stock!

  • why didnt u just buy the tournament edition stick , then u woudnt have to mod it. but im glad ud id cuz i bought this same piece of shit joystick and im goin to have to change everythin to sanwaa parts too because this stick is horrible

  • @lordofkronos SE is cheaper even with the parts its still under $100. Tournament stick are still around $150.

  • do the new te's have the washer problem too?

  • This'll work with a TE Stick too, right?

  • Same parts for TE stick right?

  • I plan on getting a stick, but I need help. Whats the best, Hori, this SE stick, or a TE stick?

  • damn...the Sanwa buttons are hard to find here...im gonna have to order them from america but it pisses me off cause the shipping will cost more than the actually buttons...does anyone know some place located in europe that ships sanwa products?(i looked around the net but couldnt find any)

  • Nice job on the stick, I'm thinking about getting one of these sticks and it modding too.

  • for this stick,i need 24 ou 30 mm?ty!

  • Nevermind

  • What was the name of the song played at the end it sounds familiar

  • Hey, I hope you can reply. I just bought the SE fightstick and read that the washers messed up the PCB, and that Sanwa parts fixed that problem. Anyways, I already ordered 6 OBSF-30 buttons and the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK joystick but I was wondering....If the washers on the Sanwa joystick still moves around, would you recommend just removing it all together instead of gluing it down? I heard that gluing would only work for a few months and removing it would be a permanent fix. Is that true?

  • this guy looks like juice box

  • how do you adjust the stick from 4 way to 8 way?

  • @Nagato1992 It should already be 8 way. You can't play Street Fighter with a 4 way gate.

  • @Veri7as I got it man, i had to twist the restrictor, and you tut helped me big time modding my SE stick a year ago.

  • @Veri7as

    nigga, you dumb.

    all madcats sticks are 4-gate.

  • @flipyesno 4-gate? Do you mean Square gate or 4-way? Yes they do come with a Square gate but they are all set to 8-way. You can't play SF with a restrictor plate set to 4-way.

    Shit nigga, maybe you dumb.

  • @Veri7as hey i have a question, can you give me the dimensions?I am trying to change the faceplate on mine

  • @Veri7as You win the game for that one. lmfao

  • @flipyesno Don't give this guy a hard time because you don't know what your talking about. Get your facts straight first:

4- way = for 80's arcade games that play only in 4 directions like Pac Man & Galaga

8- way- for newer shmups, fighters, etc.

The Sanwa JLF stick I have has a square gate that has a feature so can switch either 4-way or 8-way, in case anyone wanted to know that. I also got the octagonal gate for fighters, just a preference thing.

  • @Nagato1992 Yea dude its already 8 way. think about it. down, right, up, left.. then bottom left, bottom right, top right, top left. 8 ways.. similar to the SF button direction input.

  • Question about the joystick: What does the washer do? If it moves alot and scratches the pcb, why don't you just remove it?

  • Thanks for the vid. Just finished modding mine thanks to you. Works great!

  • just bought the hori ex2...

i dont know why i picked it over the SE....

    fuck my life

  • That's why my Y botton acts so stupid thanks dumb washer scrapping my PCB. Where can I by the materials to mod. Sounds Like some megaman X.

  • where did you get the buttons from sorry im on a gay computer with no sound so i cant hear all i can do is visual! =| but ya where did you get the buttons from?

  • where do i get the new buttons!

  • @hackern12

    etokki(dot)com

  • Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Edward Norton?

  • loving GGAC music :) fuck sf music

  • I am going to take one of these buttons out and use it for my killswitch in my guitar

  • Its important to note that you also need the Sanwa Joystick adapter to get the bat top to mount on the JLF

  • If I just brought the mad catz fight stick and glued the orginal production washer as soon as I got it, would that still rub against the PCB board?

  • Hey I have this stick too and Ima upgrade it like this but do you know how to replace the art work on this particular stick? I dont like the art on it.

  • 1 question, would you know anything bout modding the tekken 6 wireless stick?

  • is there any point of modding the TE stick ? or does it already have the sanwa parts?

  • @123shaheer123

te sticks already have the sanwa parts.

  • @123shaheer123 it already has the best sanwa parts in it.

  • Sounds like you could save some money and just glue down the washer before it scrapes up the circuit board. Prices have probably dropped by now.

  • do you get a PCB when you buy a sawnwa stick? or do you still need the old one?

  • Today I replaced my stick with a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK, all inputs work except for left and up. What could be the problem? I think one of the PCB pins came a little bent to the side, but that shouldn't cause such problems, could it?

  • I love the boondock saints

  • how many days did it took before you receive the buttons?

  • im getting an se stick soon and you glued the washer in. Could i do that to the original stick. P.S. love the the star fox music in the end.

  • Thanks for the guide I just got my SF4 stick today for about £18. I thought that the problem with the joystick part was only due to gate being used. The gate used is very square shaped making it dificult to use properly so all you needed to was buy an 8 way gate to replace the square shaped one

  • I really think the original stick is ok, but the buttons kinda sucks, I guess I'll only replace the buttons to sanwa.

  • My button wires are seriously stuck down hard! D:

  • star fox music towards end of vid awesome!!! lol brings back memories

    star fox on snes epic

  • Great video and all, but I dont understand why you need to glue down the washer on the new sanwa stick. If your purchasing the better stick, wouldnt it already be good enough to not need to glue anything down? Im really curious since im in the process of doing this mod.

  • @willu707 It's really up to you. I did it cause i saw it moving around like the old one...it's something i thought of doing. It might not be necessary, but i've had no problems with mine since, so, you're call.

  • SUCCESS!!!!! Clear and easy instructions. Didn't take long. About an hour just because I had to find some super glue to glue down the washer. Tons, TONS of thanks bro. Stick plays and feels like a dream!

  • lol@ like....wtf?

  • fuck you trini =kid i just bought one of these for $39.99! i like the art and that it's modable!

  • When I heard MadCatz was doing all of the sticks. Knowing their history I thought 3 things.

1-Frustration (people will buy replacement parts like they have for over 20 years of MC's existence)

    2-Capcom is cheap

3-If it doesnt have 8 way sticks like Japanese arcades I wont even think about it!

  • where can u buy sanwa parts at!?!?

  • @omfgitzalex can't post links in youtube comments (at least i get errors when it try) so google 'lizardlick' (lizard lick) it should be the first link

  • i just picked one of these guys from amazon for $35. I immediately ordered sanwa buttons and a joystick. Good thing, because 2 days later my MP button went out.

Thanks for the tutorial video. Best I've found.

  • @rroyale the mp button on my stick seems to go out alot too.

  • @rroyale Got mine at gamestop for 50 about 2 weeks ago. was playin SSF4 last night with one of my buddies that has the d-pad version that he used to talk mad game about...and this morning he called me to tell me he had been to 2 stores lookin for my fightstick already!

  • @rroyale mine to. It's like it doesn't register and but sometimes it works but only for a brief moment. Why sell a piece of crap that works correctly for only a few weeks.

  • I'm working on my first stick and I am using the MadCatz SE as a template. When you switch the buttons how exactly do you remove the connectors? Do you just pull on them or is there something I have to push in for them to release?

  • when you order from lizardlick, is it $2.95 each for one button, or $2.95 for a pack of six?

  • for each button

  • when you order from lizardlick, is it $2.95 each for one button, or $2.95 for a pack of six?

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the info. I need to replace the stick in my SE and wasn't sure of the parts I would need to do it.

  • Nice tutorial. Thanks!

  • is just bought one of these arcade stick so you are telling me it's doom to fail... dammit!!

  • What size screw driver are you using <.<

  • Why are people complaining about the level of the music? It's not that loud, I can hear him perfectly fine.

  • Nice tut. If anyone out there is thinking about buying a MC SF4 Se stick, just be warned that atleast 1 button will crap out on you or it will come faulty. So be prepared to mod. I've had mine for 2 days and am very gentle, but the 3 button does not register every time. ONLY BUY IF YOU WANT TO MOD. Cheers.

  • even the sound of the joysticks and the buttons sound different. I cant believe madcats fuckin sold this piece of shit, they used different parts for the SE and TE.

    motherfuckers.

  • I like your tutorial, You give all the information about the stick instead of simply showing the mod and not implying detail, You give alot of detail which helps beginners out alot, Keep posting.

  • just buy a TE stick, You US people have it lucky with occasional sales from amazon... TE stick, 100 dollars with free shipping :D

  • i cant remove the wires from 1 button ....

    It seems to be stucked.

    Any1 have an idea?

  • @prax0r same it wont even move......u have any luck yet? i dont wanna fuk it up lol

  • yeah just dont be rough ... take a small screwdriver and put it under and lift it gently up.

Worked fine for me after 30 minutes. GL

  • @prax0r thanks bro i jus tried it and it worked your a boss

  • Anyone know if its possible to attach a Sanwa stick to the Madcatz SE stick mountingplate?

  • im having trouble removing the clear connector plate on my SE stick the 4 black tabs are to big to slide out of the little hole.....any help?

  • 6:14

    a shuriken!!!

  • MY biggest issue with modding SE's is that i cant seem to get those buttons out. Thers not enough room to maneuver around.

  • FUCK madcatz. They sold me a shitty product. I e-mailed them about my warranty because nobody picked up at their tech support number, and they never responded. I had this for what..3 days, and two of the buttons stopped working. After no response from those fucks, I opened it up and saw that the famous rogue washer was fine, it didn't even move, meaning they have since fixed that, but that also means that the fucking button broke after 3 days and I'm a gentle dude.

  • mad catz = shitty build quality

  • Im from Mexico and just ordered a TE for $160. Back then in May, I bought a chinese stick with Sanwa parts for the same money, so im just changing for the real thing. Its hard to get these thing outside the USA, not finding yourself payin 50 bucks for shipping expenses

  • I just got my se stick a week ago, anyone still know if Madcatz is still putting lame joysticks out?

  • it depends on where you got your stick and how long it was sitting around I think. I bought this stick for $40 off amazon two days ago and opened it up today as soon as I could and noticed the washer was loose. luckily I ordered a jlf and buttons a few days ago so I won't have to wait too long to get the stick in good shape.

  • Good video.

I've got an SE and most people tell me it's complete ass, so I definitely need to find sanwa parts for it to change out.

Q: what's the second song you used? after noontide, but before corneria?

  • This helped me out so much when I first got my SE stick last Feb. And today i just did the same thing for my friend's SE stick when he got his new Sanwa parts. Just wanted to say thanks for doing this! I used to know nothing about modding anything, and now i do! (I sound like some cheesy informercial haha) good sh*t man!

  • Hey Veri7as, one question. Some thing I didnt get was, you glued the washer to other parts, or glued the pcb to the washer? If you glued the washer, did you have to disassemble it or is it just loose? Also, if I just don't glue it, is it going to break? Thanks.

  • I was planning on buying a HRAP EX, would there be any problems with that stick that were on this stick?

  • PLEASE READ!!!! : dont do what this guy is doing, its cheaper and better to buy the TE stick ... another great alternative is to buy the HRAP stick and change the 6 buttons to OBSF-30 ....

  • lolol Look at when i posted this video...TE sticks were going for $300+ and you couldn't find them anywhere.

One: i don't even think you can buy the SE stick anymore.

and Two: they just did a price cut to the TE sticks...

    soooo, no shit Sherlock!!

but if you already own a SE stick and don't want to spend another $120+ on a TE stick, then you'd be stupid not to do this mod.

  • lol, no offence bro, i appreciate your contribution to the street fighter scene .... but the TE stick is still high priced outside America .... I live in Toronto, CANADA and the TE sticks are like $230 and up ... and its even higher priced in countries outside North America, and shipping online is like $50+ bucks ...

  • @trinikid2k2 TE sticks in Edmonton are 189

  • I live in Toronto as well and TE's are 159.99. Stop by a local gamestop/eb games.

I remember watching this tutorial a few months back. This definitely helped :D

  • you maybe right, i think they just reduced the price ... but i bought the HRAP and put in 6 OBSF-30's for under $100 bucks and i may put in an octo gate as well ... btw, do you know of any tournaments in toronto??? or any arcade spots that have good competition? your help is much appreciated, and sorry if i offended any viewer or the author, i was just trying to help ... i always support my street fighter community!!

  • To be honest..You can just get the SE and mod it for less than that. $80 for the SE, it will be about $30-$40 for new buttons and joystick(sanwa is my choice), and I got my SE on sale for $50 after christmas so it was only like $90 total.

  • @Veri7as my se never gave me any kinda of problem, did this happened to the first versions ? because I've been playing sf4 since august 2009, anyway I bought a te

another question, how to I remove the buttons from those 2 plugs ? I tried and it's completly stuck, thanks
