@3388stph Not true in your case. With First Aid / CPR training you are under no obligation to help, although as a sensible person with appropriate training you probably would. Very different situation for a person who does it professionally although to be technical, a medical professional can refuse to treat someone in very rare situations which usually relate to moral/religious issues and not emergent care.

You know how many people FAKE collapse on purpose around certain people just to get you close to them so they can stab you and then rob you? I saw it happen one time and I will never get close to a person who has collapsed, I WILL call 911 and WAIT for them to arrive but I will not get close after what I've seen........

EMT's have a duty to respond in every state some states its law if they don't they loose their license. The two EMTs were put on a 30-day suspension, though a criminal investigation is still pending. The EMTs name jason Green was involved in an altercation outside of a NYC nightclub that turned violent. Witnesses say Green and a friend were denied entrance to Greenhouse nightclub and shortly thereafter a fight broke out between Green and another group of men. During the fight, Green kicked someone in the face and then someone shot Green twice in the stomach. Green died later at a NYC hospital.
I got good news.....One of the EMT's was shot dead in manhattan a year or so later. He had a fight outside a nightclub and was shot and killed. Yayyy !

If Canada's health care system gets much worse this wouldn't be an unrealistic scene for us...it is already what happens in hospitals here and people are left also to die let out of the hospital when they just had major surgery etc...it is that bad here in the hospitals!
People can't die because EMTs are on a break. EMTs are people, they are not able to work like robots. There should have a management to prevent EMT's from not having breaks, because at first people shouldn't die....
My mom once worked three 24 hr shifts in a row as a lab technician for the ICU when she was 17 bcause she had to cover when someone didn't show up. Every time she had a break during cafeteria hours an emergency would come in. She'd drop everything & help. On day 3 she had to do a blood test 4 someone & needed to use regular blood to compare results. She had 2 use someone else's cause her own bloodwork said she was so low on sugar she should've been in a coma. It shouldnt matter if ur on break.

I would have dropped everything to help her if I saw her fall. If there was some person on the ground just laying there and the 2 emt's had cups and sandwiches or empty handed not even close to them i'd be speaking out..

I would have just informed them that as a first responder, by law you have to stop and deal with any serious medical situation whether working or not. And seeing as they were in uniform, and probably ambulance workers (If this were real that is) then that would mean they are first responders and would lose their jobs.

I ususally don't play the race card, and In fact, I hate playing it, but in those two cases of people dying from asthma attakcs, if they were white women, the paramedics would have done something. Guaranteed. You can disagree with me, but in the end, paramedics and police usually prefer white people. Some America this is xP

People only made a big deal about those girls because they were white. If they were black, I really doubt the police or the emergency officials would have cared. Yes, in the particular cases at hand, the police/EMTs may have been racist, but that's them, not all police/EMTs.
I would simply take pictures of them, tell them their bosses and the police will get it, and I'll bring them to a lawyer's office for the family of the person if anything happened to them. That'd force them into action.
