Agreed. The military only suffered about 6 million. The rest were civillians. Germans would go out of their way to murder innocent civillians who just wanted to get away from it all. The Soviet military suffered losses from the 1940 purger of the Soviet Union's officers, generals, ETC. But I honor the brave Russians who gave their life to stop Hitler. I don't honor a bunch of people who think they had anything to do with stopping Hitler other than the Russians.

My favorite event in history is the flag over the reichstag mainly because it saw the end of the disgusting, fascist, scum sucking pigs they called Nazi's.
If you read about it it was a Russian (forgot their names) just one squad and many others ran through the Reichstag and the one who planted it tore pieces of piping from the walls to make the pole for the flag. Very inspirational picture.
Interesting to note, Nazis were at the gates of Leningrad for 3 years, and were unable to conquer it, at the gates of Stalingrad for half a year, unable to conquer it. Soviets in ONE WEEK conquered a 4 million city of Berlin.

Yes, quite right. Britain was only concerned with its African claims and only prepared to send a few troops to protect its imperial interests, same with the US with the Pacific islands and the goal of the Philippines. The Soviets won the war single handedly. They could have done so without Britain's useless army.
What probably is the issue is howmuch help each side gave the other. The fact remains that 80% of the Germans losses were on the eastern front. They were better prepared than the USSR and had captured equipment and wealth from the small countries of Europe they occupied. The USSR did get help from the Allies but had to do the dirty work and their people paid the price. Stoping and then defeating the German army is costly on all accounts.
The Alies were at the right place at the right times. The USSR defeated Germany (for the most part) then the western Allies won by having the USSR collaps in the 1990s. The western Allies did win against Japan (for the most part) and the USSR won against the Germans (for the most part)
Germany lost 5.7 millions in all teatres of war, of which 5.0 million on the Eastern Front. Soviets lost 10 millions, but 3.5 million as POW starved to death. In short, Soviets have beaten the crap out of Nazis, and by 1944 it was even funny. I really like Operation Bagration, when the whole Army Group Center was destroyed by Soviets. Nazis deserved that.

Great video combination, though i have to admit - its a shame that, although it was the USSR who stormed Berlin and crushed Nazism at its heart, nearly every Western media produced since then had completely ignored the valiant Russians' contribution in the war - "The Americans won the war" they would brag. had they forgotten that the Western Allies lost like, less than 2 million deaths, while Russia had suffered 28 million or so? And that only THEY REACHED BERLIN while the others are way off?

Agreed! The contribution from the Soviets was totally ignored.Mainly the axis power has been targeting Soviet Union.They,alone,managed to win from those invaders,and they have forgotten the reason for the end of WW II.Those Americans were angry for the start of the Cold War between USSR and the US,but had forgotten the hard work from the Soviets.

Agreed. The military only suffered about 6 million. The rest were civillians. Germans would go out of their way to murder innocent civillians who just wanted to get away from it all. The Soviet military suffered losses from the 1940 purger of the Soviet Union's officers, generals, ETC. But I honor the brave Russians who gave their life to stop Hitler. I don't honor a bunch of people who think they had anything to do with stopping Hitler other than the Russians.

@ussr5665 are you saying blue eyes and blonde hair is the perfection???anyway my grand fathers are by father russians and by mother austrian i am blond with green eyes as all of my family (my brother blue eyed) but mi grandfather was considered an slav by german forces ,he is one of the few russians survivors of german concentration camps,he was captured in kiev in the begining of the war,hitler and his natzis were a bunch of psicho motherfuckers and period.

My favorite event in history is the flag over the reichstag mainly because it saw the end of the disgusting, fascist, scum sucking pigs they called Nazi's.

If you read about it it was a Russian (forgot their names) just one squad and many others ran through the Reichstag and the one who planted it tore pieces of piping from the walls to make the pole for the flag. Very inspirational picture.

Interesting to note, Nazis were at the gates of Leningrad for 3 years, and were unable to conquer it, at the gates of Stalingrad for half a year, unable to conquer it. Soviets in ONE WEEK conquered a 4 million city of Berlin.

@Mahknz , yesk, you're probably right, we don't really learn from our mistakes, it seems that every generation has its wars. Hopefully we won't see another war as global in scope, destruction and suffering like WWII, but looking at human history, I'm not optimistic.

I think it must have been really unsatisfying to find, after all the horrors the allied armies had been thrue, Hitler and his wife dead. At a certain point, the soviet army was fighting soldiers without a leader. I think they really would have wanted to do terrible things to Hitler

Stalin took out some frustration. Of the 90,000 germans captured at Stalingrad only 5,000 ever returned thanks to the brilliant idea to make the Germans repair what they broke.

My Great Grandad is my hero he fought for the USSR and get right into Berlin :) He told me stories and I have a lot of fond memories from him..may he R.I.P

When people talk about the "Master race" I ask them is they are talking about the Slavic race that marched into Berlin. Germany needed to be thaught a lesson and brute force is all they can understand. Since may of 1945 they have not caused any agression. Now you see how well the Soviet treatment of the Germans worked well.

The asnwer why at that time Ussr was s powerful was because they were for they country not like americans who didn't want to go to war so government had to force people, But Ussr 16 year old lied that they are 18 just to go to war. But imagine nowadays im 16 and i wouldn't go to war people nowadays only think about money not ur country.

Russia would partially speak japanese now and the other half german.
And btw Germany lost 5.5 million soldiers on BOTH fronts. And the ussr lost fukin 10 million soldiers on ONE front.
Don't act all cool russia won with the help of the allies. And the allies won with the help of russia.

Yes, quite right. Britain was only concerned with its African claims and only prepared to send a few troops to protect its imperial interests, same with the US with the Pacific islands and the goal of the Philippines. The Soviets won the war single handedly. They could have done so without Britain's useless army.

What probably is the issue is howmuch help each side gave the other. The fact remains that 80% of the Germans losses were on the eastern front. They were better prepared than the USSR and had captured equipment and wealth from the small countries of Europe they occupied. The USSR did get help from the Allies but had to do the dirty work and their people paid the price. Stoping and then defeating the German army is costly on all accounts.

The Alies were at the right place at the right times. The USSR defeated Germany (for the most part) then the western Allies won by having the USSR collaps in the 1990s. The western Allies did win against Japan (for the most part) and the USSR won against the Germans (for the most part)

Germany lost 5.7 millions in all teatres of war, of which 5.0 million on the Eastern Front. Soviets lost 10 millions, but 3.5 million as POW starved to death. In short, Soviets have beaten the crap out of Nazis, and by 1944 it was even funny. I really like Operation Bagration, when the whole Army Group Center was destroyed by Soviets. Nazis deserved that.

Yes, thanks to all allies the end of War had happened sooner. But, the victory was obvious. After creation of the Second Front the British, USA Army did not harry up to participate in the War. Soviet Army was on its own for a long time. Yes, USSR lost a lot. It was brutal, the bloodiest war ever.
