some students graduate but no work
some people's unemployment has ended because it's only about a year.
they won't receive any benefits, they can't defer school loans, they have no healthcare etc.
they are out of work but they will not be listed as unemployed because the time expired

Once the people file for their unemployment extension it'll go right back up.
Guess you kids don't know how they get the numbers for unemployment.
It's based on what the states report of how many file for unemployment. So the % amount is no where close to then true amount of unemployed.
The wifes cusin just shut his company down, that's 1500 more this month out of work.

gold is in a bubble... and will go way down in terms of the USD as long as credit is tight, and it will be kept reasonably tight...and the funny money is in terms of bank credits...not so much printed currency... making print currency scarce...that will tend to put pressure on gold.

Gold prices are relatively easy to manipulate since the market is so small. Thus it makes sense that there will be many temporary "hickups" in the price of gold.
The underlying trend is still that it's going up both in real value and in terms of currency inflation.

Just had an escapee from Northern California visit me -- moved to France three weeks ago. She voted for Obama. She was in social services and said that people are getting laid off and shifted around there so much, they have had to reprioritize big time, and it's not pretty.
