  • same thing happened to my pony Kestral. Sadly Kezzie was put down. Glad he's okay;]

  • awww well i hope he gets his confidence back soon and he loooks amazing when he canters!! keep going!!

  • I don't think a whole month off jumping would have been the best idea, i would have carried on jumping but kept the jumps really really low :/ or you teach him if he doesn't want to jump he gets to laze around for a while :L x

  • LOVELY PONYYY HOPE YE GET BACK TO JUMPIN + WHEN UR HACKIN TRY POPIN OVER LITTLE TREES , STINKS ANYTHING SMALL 4 HE/SHE 2 GET BETTER AT JUMPN ALL DIIFERRENT THINGS

  • Lovelly pony , same thing happened to me . One day my pony got eliminated from both bsja classes and i thought it was the end of him sj career !! but hes come back after 10 weeks of not bein ridden and a new saddle ABSOLUTELY AMAZING :) good luck for the summer ahead :) xx

  • My horse does a similar thing when he has knocked a jump so i know how you feel he just refuses repeatedly until i let him find his own way over a small one a few times then he is back to himself again haha, stupid sensitive horse ;)... Glad you're having fun with your pony again.

  • In my opinion, stopping jumping for a month is ridiculous.

I wouldn't let my horse do that if I were you.

    Like, a month?!

That would make him gain his confidence back? If you just did a tad higher jumps every few days he'll get the hang of it.

    Just keep on trying :/.

  • Your Pony Is Stunning! And He Probabaly Went Off Of Jumping So You Did Right To Give Him A Break :D He Looks Like A Super Jumper xx

  • cute pony!!!

  • It will get better He's a pretty pony.

  • Hes sO pretty :D And ur such a great rider[;

And yhuu fit him so well :DD xO

  • he is soo beautiful

    what is the song called

i had a pony and he fell on me

  • hes so beautiful

  • you have a pretty little pony ;)

  • @breyercraze101 i was giving advice, she didnt take it the wrong way. im not saying she should have done what i suggested, but its exactly that, a SUGGESTION.

  • your horse is pretty! and ur good at riding wat breed is your horse?

  • glad yall r better :D

Imma subbing for pretty pony and exellent rider

  • @addictedtohorzez thank you very much :) it's nice to read comments like this :D x

  • he looks like he has stiffness in his legs ask your vet to look at him or use a linement

  • my brother is called Karl

  • Great vid and good luck with hiim whats the song ( but not the livee versionn lol ) xx

  • ah cool, thats good. tbh i wouldnt have said do this do that, hes your pony and you can do what you like lol x

  • dont you think it would have been better not to stop jumping for a month, but carry on at it and at it and at it till he gives in? even if its just poles on the floor? no offence to you, but thats what i would have done. perservere till they know whos boss. thats what i had to do today, had a fight with a 4 year old who kept tanking off, which nearly resulted to me in a tree. VERY close too infact. but i didnt leave, i kept going untill he became submissive, and bingo, the battle was won.

  • normally im the type to but karl is quite sensitive and it would have made him worse and lose more confidence but hes back and happy now.

    xxx

  • @3ForeverLast - I think you did the right thing! Yea, sometimes you have to push your horse but your really the only person who knows what he needs, and whats best for him :)

  • @horsymad100 i agree if he needs work jumping jump more not stop

  • @horsymad100 You can only push a horse so hard. She didnt want to make him mad. He might of needed the rest and she didnt see that he did. She is a different person. That hose is different from your's I'm sure of, all horses and people are different. Look at this video again, you can see what she isdoing and what he is feeling.

  • @horsymad100 A horse shouldn't be forced into "giving in". A horse should enjoy jumping, if you have to force it then there are serious underlying issues! I think this girl did the right thing - horses often go stale if people over-jump or over-face them. I worry that you have a 4yo who is tanking off with you. A 4yo should never be doing that in the first place! Horses dont naturally misbehave just for the hell of it, you must be doing something wrong.

  • oh, im sorry that really sucks!! ='(

  • Im very srry i seen the fall and it was horrible...and you have a georgous pony...i hope he can go back to the spunky pony with jumping he always was cuz i watch all your videos.!!! good luck

  • ya that fall was hard! on the other vid! hes has a speedy little canter

  • aww bless i saw a fall video you have done sooo well with him are you back yo jumping now?? x

  • Sorry, I never saw all these comments on this video!!

But yeh, he is bck jumping now and loving it! If you see my latest video of him at Cricklands you will see. xxx

  • Is he jumping now? My cob does that sometimes if i have jumped him alot he just gets bored but if i dont do any jumping for a couple of weeks he is back to loving his jumping, some times they have funny ideas lol

  • is he very old? because sometimes, when horses get older, they just lose interest in stuff like that, like a horse i used to know, she used to be a hunter (like, with the hounds, i think), but in her old age, she lost interest.

  • that IS bad news! i love jumping with my horse honey! she is a darling and we are the best team ever!

  • Aww bless :( x

I cant believe rider4piper4evr said that cuz your a great rider and it is bad news

    xxxxxx

  • Is Karl a friesian?

  • Comment removed

  • :L Im sorry, but no need to get arsey. :)

It was bad news for me cos I want to affiliate in eventing and can't with a horse that wont jump for me...

    soooo yeah. :)

  • He's sooo cute and you two look amazing! I subscribed. :)

  • i imagine he stopped jumping because you never gave him a proper release so he was being hit in the mouth, and because you always smacked down onto his back before he had a chance to land.

  • Tbh, I see what you mean, as they are old clips, but at the end of the day I produced him from a pony that bolted instead of cantered so...:)

I know it's no excuse for bad riding, but I have improved from this video I hope.

If you want to critique me, please do it on a more recent video.

  • emm i had to not jump for a month too

but i wasnt extremely sad and saying oh its such a low its not,its the best thing for tam and your still riding him and you will find it isnt too bad :D

i just had to point that out :D

    nicee video .x

  • Yehh, this was an extremly low point for us though because I had worked really hard on his jumping the few months before so it was disappointing. :)

But hey, we're past that now. :D

    x

  • whats the song Teri baby? :P

  • My Immortal by Evanscence but a live one.

    They took my audio. :@

  • Is everything better now ?

    It's been sevrel months ...

I have the same problem with the horse I ride now, he was perfect at jumping, I took a nasty fall and after a while got back on and jumped again fine.

Now, i'm told to get on another horse for my own saftey when jumping, he just bolts at the jumps, runs-out and then won't stop :|

    Anywayy, lovely horse (:

  • Yeh, he is back to himself now.

Took us a while to get on track but he is brilliant and is competing happily at 75cm and jumping 1m at home.

I have another pony who can get a bit like that. Are you going to try and sort it out? :)

Anyways thank you for the comment. :D

    x

  • Watch your hands and arms. You tend to really break your wrists and your arms seem a little stiff when you ride.

  • Thank you. :)

I've always had problems with my arms with this pony because he is quite strong, and I used to (and occassionally slip back into) hold him into a contact. BUt hopefully it's getting better. :)

    Thanks for the comment.

    x

  • Luckily me and Karl have passed this phase in our partnership and now hes competing away from home at 2ft3/2ft6, and jumping around 3ftish at home so have faith.

If I was you, get your ponys back/teeth/saddle checked out cos it could be that but work on having fun without jumping for a while...thats what I did and Karl is great to jump now, hes a completely different pony! :)

    Good luck, keep me updated.

    xxx

  • i would call a vet just in case...my pony was the same way and she ended up having a torn suspencury. :((

  • its ok... just build up the confidence and trust again. I am experiencing a similar disapointment with my lease pony. I'm sure it will work out with you guys... good luck he's a beauty

  • So Sorry 2 Hear About Ur Pony...

Hope Everything works out in the end...=)

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • i hope it all comes together for u... he's a really pretty pony =D x

  • me and my horse took a fall like yours.. + afterwards she didnt want to be rode at all, once i got her feeling more confident i started using poles as part of schooling, then began puttin them up as her confidence grew.. dont worry he'll get his confidence back, it'l just take a bit of time.. good luck :)

    x

  • I would be afraid too.. If I had tumbled like that.. So you can't blame him.. He just needs a confidence booster! :D

My horse did this to me also.. So we just would trot poles and when he went over then I attacked him with hugs, kisses, pats, and treats!! I hope you two get back to jumping!

    Amazing pony! I mean UH-mazing!

  • awwie :(

  • after my best mate used this song on her video remembering her pony murphy , it just makes me so sad ...

    steph :P

  • you make it sound like hes really hurt xD

    Hes jumpingn normaly noww

    x

  • Hey, I shouldn't worry too much... I had the same problem in November last year, Smartie suddenly wouldn't jump a thing in the field and he's usually better out there than in the school, but I couldn't get him over 2'6!! I gave him a couple of weeks of just slow schooling, and he was back to normal in no time... It could just be something like he's pulled a muscle and not feeling up to it... I hope he's better soon! xx

  • Aww Lovely Video

    Sorry =(

    Hope It All Works Out

Mii Horse Murphy Fell Over When

    I Went Showjumping

I Got His Back Done And He Was Ok After

  • My horse had a bad fall, she went over and she landed down on her front legs in a camal position but she came out injury free. The next time i jumped her she ran out of everything but i eventually got her over it. From then on i did hacking, schooling and some days off then after about two weeks just went of a small cross and let her take herself up to it with just my leg and she enjoyed jumping it and now shes fine. u two look great and im sure u will get him over it keep going and make it funx

  • You guys Look GREAT on the flat though :)

Sorry about you not jumping for a month. Ilove jumping

  • Sorry to hear. :(

  • Aw, this is sad. :(

But, did you try again after?

If you hadn't jumped him in a while, maybe he was just out of practice.

  • Well we fell, and then he jumped fine the week after, and then this happened the week after that...if that makes sense?

He's just abit funny but hopefully we can uncomplicate it all!

  • im sorry to hear, i wonder what hes thinking.

ilove your pony hes so so cute hes like a mini freisian!!! good luck with the jumping

  • Sometimes I think that too...he's a bit of a weird one sometimes!

Yeeh, he apprently has a bit of freisian in him. :)

    Thanks

    x

  • ooo thats rlly cool cos i love freisians!

  • hey soz to here about your problem. hopefully he will be okay after a while. BUt ont eh bright side you can focus on your flat as hes a baby he has loads to improve on as we all do at flatwork lol!!! let me know how your doing:D

  • get his confidence back with just poles poles and more poles, then put the poles in different places around the school to get him used to going over it then slowly raise them off the ground, and make it fun. im sorry for what happend, its not the end of the world though, it could have been worse

  • Look i really wouldn't be that worried. My horse used to have phases like this all the time. sometimes they just don't feel like jumping and i know that i dont know your horse but if you look at my horse jumping she hardly ever refuses. But sometimes i cant get her over a piddly 2ft6 cross just because she didn't want to. I only jump her once a month anyway. But don't be too worried im sure hell be fine you usually find its the riders that loose their confidence more than the horses.

  • Yeh it's just really concerning as when I got him he was fine to load and one day he decided he didn't want to and he hasn't. We had to blindfold him to get him in. But I'm praying everything will be ok. :)

    x

  • if i were you i would get his eyes checked we have had a couple horses have similar problembes and that would be one of the first things i would think of

  • Thanks for your suggestion. :)

If it doesn't go back to normal, I will make sure I get it all checked. :)

    x

  • haha lol

well i manged to get over 3 but she refused the rest of em nd they was tinii lol even my shitishetland wud of jumped em lol x

  • erm a welsh cross but when i saw your horse jump i was like wow because he a has a great jump its really scopey nd he just jumps soo good, Rosie jumps good at home but soon as we get to shows she like woo a jump nd then refuses it lol. Good Luck x beth x

  • aww bless!

Well at Karl's 2nd time jumping away from home, we trotted up to the first jump andhe stopped and stepped over it! lol

    God damn 1ft9 classes!

Still came 4th though...think it was out of sypathy! :L

    x

  • he has a great jump and is beautiful

    xx

  • Thank you so much. :)

    Wow you've commented before. :D

It's nice that people care about him, even if they are in england, america, canada.

Just had a nose at your channel too, Rosie is stunning. Is she a welsh?

    x

  • Maybe a he needs to follow someone over the jump or make the jump wide enough that you guys could jump side by side we did this with a horse once and it worked pretty well!

    Good luck though!

  • Thank you for your suggestion. I will have to try some of them out next month if he still isn't the same.. :)

    x

  • I REALLY! Wish you the best of luck! It is never fun to have you partner being afraid of anything!

  • Thank you so much. :)

It is horrible but at least our flatwork is benifiting from it. I just hope it all clicks again.

    x

  • Being a optomistic is the best! And again I spelled it wrong.... OH WELL my brain hurts so I honestly don't care! I think with your flat work getting better it can only go up from there!

  • I hope so! :)

It's actually nice because everyone on youtube and up my yard have been really supportive and I appreicate it all so much, especially when people tell me about their own horse which had the same problem!

And I didn't even notice you spelt it wrong until you pointed it out. :P ;)

    x

  • Everyone hits road blocks! And if they don't then they are either riding or not as good a rider as you are! having the support of your yard is a huge plus since you know while you are riding you have a cheering squad!

  • Aww this happened to my horse back in like 2007/2008, nothing was wrong with him, and we didn't push him too hard, he just didn't want to jump for a bit. Well I hope Karl gets his confidence back! Good luck :)

  • Thank you.

Is nice to know other people are going through this too.

If it was in the summer I would have turned him away for a bit, but I cant. :(

What did you do with your horse?

    x

  • Ahh so you can't turn him out?

I started him over, from the very beginning- lots & lots of ground poles. Haha Start with just walking over some poles, then trotting and then moving on to cantering. After this you could try putting maybe 4 sets of standards around the arena and put the pole on the ground then do like a half x-rail, etc. But first maybe give him like you said, a month of dressage work, he then may be more interested in jumping again :) Well good luck with him! :]

  • No not really...our field isn't big enough, and he wouldn't have any company as our other pony needs to be stabled in winter due to leg problems.

Thank you for a reply. :)

    x

  • he was such a good jumper good luck with the future!! x

  • Thank you. :)

Yeah he did have springs when he wanted.

Good luck to you too. :)

    x

  • awh im so sorry i hope he gets his confidence back : (

    x

  • Thank you, it's really nice I have had such a nice response from people so far. :)

    x

  • poor karl.. i hope he is ok.. xx

  • Thank you. :(

    x

  • Poor karl :(

Hope he gets his confidence back soon, he was coming on so well with his jumping bless him

    xx

  • Thank you.

I had so much planned to do with him this year and it's all gone out the window so far.

    x

  • ohh noo:( hope he gets his confidence back and everything soon.

  • Thank you. :(

Hopefully all the flat I will be doing with him will help his jumping get better. :)

    x
