I've just got a Sheridan A200 with these fitted and they are great! More high end and clarity than normal perhaps less warmth but it's nice to use a guitar where rolling off the tone knob doesn't make it sound worse lol! Pickup height is very sensitive took a while adjusting to reduce wolf notes! Theres plenty of power but the treble response evens it out. I'm not changing them they're superb and its nice to have a guitar I don't need to mod! Very impressed!
i'm really thinking about putting those SRO's in a Strat. maybe an OC1 in the bridge and 2 SC1's.
and my luthier may not like the idea of the solderless system (he doesn't trust them... he's a little conservative), i think it's the best thing in the world. cause even a moron like me can fit a guitar with em!
@osvas23 I understand. But remember, it all comes down to an individual's taste. Personally, I love the active EMG pickups. But I had to get the EMG HG SRO for the bridge in my Strat. The tech at SF Guitar Works , CA. couldn't believe how loud this passive bridge pickup was. These pickups are slowly making their way to guitar repair shops across the nation. Other than that, I still a big fan of Seymour Duncan guitar and bass pickups. But, then again, it all boils down to an individual's taste.
@garciajuan18 As promised I said I will tell you about the EMG SRO bridge pickup when I got my guitar back. The verdict: TOTALLY AWESOME! This pickup, IMO, is probably the best replacement humbucker pickup in the bridge for a strat hss. This SRO EMG is passive but has active characteristics. Buy it! This baby very aggressive and can cut thru the mix!
@garciajuan18 I will when I get my guitar out the shop again. The setup was done improperly at Sweetwater. Therefore, the techs at SF Guitar Works will make the proper adjustments. Before I left there I had a chance to hear how the EMG SRO sounded which blew me away! I forgot to tell you that I also had a pair of Seymour Duncan SSL 5's pickups installed at the neck and the middle (NO MORE FENDER PICKUP TWANG!) This strat sounds great. It will sound better when the neck gets the pro setup!
SRO humbucker is a pretty decent pickup. I haven't tried emgs really besides when Im messing around at a with guitars at a store. But I am pretty pleased with it. Plenty of output, good harmonics and decent sustain. Gives you a nice low end as well and picks up every string nicely when playing chords. Keep in mind its a passive, so obviously its not going to be as great as the actives. But for $60 I must say its pretty damn good, for people who want to try passives, give this one a shot.
great vid but the guy lied about never doing open coil EMG pickups at 0:41 . not only have i seen those in magazines before this year, i own a steve clayton playboy guitar that has 2 open coil EMG-HZ pickups in it (which sound great btw)
those solderless systems are a joke, the only way they work is if you're replacing almost the exact same pickup, the connectors aren't always long enough for your guitar and there is a different number of pins on the connectors, so you can't always use the same wires. additionally, you still have to take your guitar apart (for the most part) in order to access alot of these parts.
AMAZING!!! What a great clip! Can't wait to see more of what EMG has in store for this year. The new Chromes are effing stunning by the way!!! Checking them out is a must!!
I wanna purchace one of these passive alexi pick ups but it ask if its for floyd rose or for standard bridge. Is there any difference on the sound?

@t0psecretshit they make versions of their high-output active pickups in a P-90 shape. but no "real" P-90's.
