@nstable funny thing is the motor didn't crack, the scooters engine mounts did on the frame. This motor was very good and never had problems except the noisy horrid crank bearings, other than that it took beatings with out dying
@30GB not necessarily, the advantages of friction I have found is that it can be removed very quickly, and can be disengaged easily, also, since only 1 bolt/stud is used to hold it, it holds up better legally as it isn't a motorcycle. because of it's simplicity it is easier to fix or remove when the engine goes wrong, and 2 stroke engines like this do quite often.
@MaraJadeZX it is illegal because it is no longer a bicycle. It is now a motorcycle and in need of licensing and shit. You cut the pedals off. I did the same thing on my first build. For it tio be legal it needss to be able to be completely human powered, with a motor assist. Otherwise its a motorcycle.
@subsystem8 i clocked it at 45km with a gps so it was freaking fast also i welded foot stands for it and traded it away for a lawn tractor but i sure miss it and at least i rode it like 200kms
I like your idea and The originality of it! But it really looks unsafe.. You kinda just welded everything together seems like.. It's going to look bad for all motorized bicycles.. I think you would have been better of just buying a kit..
@Williamdavidgarrett i think you dont get what homemade means, anyways it was made within 10 hours so that is amazing for Only using stuff i had laying around also i did buy a bike engine kit but the clutch took a shit after 1500km i put on it.
@DannysCam LOL this one sucks too because i have like no place to put your legs but oh well at least it works great for short distances also need a pull start to make it complete
We did this back in the 80's with a chainsaw motor

Not too shabby your bike. Doesn't look like it works, but it does. The buildings down the street, are those housing projects?

I'm making something like this with an old electric razor chopper and a 36cc chainsaw engine
Btw,did you get that sprocket and chain from a razor chopper cuz it looks the same as on one?
You should change the gear ratio it will go WAY faster.
