@TyeNee I think it may have originally been a classical piece but it was used on the old TV series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" - I think there's a clip on here somewhere.
@CubeableGame The standard Stylophone, I think, has a shorter octave range, fewer waveform settings and sounds more 'reedy'. I've heard that you can tune the standard Stylophone as well - not sure by how much, but you might be able to get lower notes on there but I can't say for sure.
@tronfan66 on the back of the standard sylophone there is a deep divit inside of which, there is a prong, on mine it is black, you can use said prong to tune the device, by turning it.
@CubeableGame There are two models of standard stylophone, the white one (treble) and the black one (bass). The 350s has the compass of both models combined, more or less, and has various vibrato settings. The second stylus is used to create a rhythmic pattern, which you then solo on top of, but the instrument is entirely monophonic
Cool video! I've read that the 350S wasn't successful on the marketplace but it sure sounds sweet through the effects. I figure we'll never see that one reissued.

If you can find a working one in good condition, I'd definitely recommend getting it. You get a wider range of sounds with the 350s. The standard one is good, but there's something more "Radiophonic Workshop-esque" about the sound of the 350s.
I remember hearing somewhere that it was a later theme tune to Animal Magic after they stopped using the original theme, but I'm not sure if this is correct.
I NEED A 350S!!! I've been playing live using my new version, but this one seems to let you use 2 oscillators at once, sounds amazing. Just what I need...You lucky GRRRRR!
I've got my 350S up on craigslist now if anyone is interested

I found one in an old toy box! Not sure if it works yet as I'm seeking batteries.
Nice playing!

@tronfan66 Charles Gounod's Funeral March Of A Marionette. Great playing, tronfan66! I love little synthesizer devices like this from the 1970s!

@TyeNee "Funeral March of a Marionette" by Gunoud, used as the theme for Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

What differences has the Stylophone 350s from the standard stylophone? Can I get the lower notes of this model on a standard stylophone?

This seems like a cool device, but it now costs $400, which is enough for somebody to get a real synth.

Can you play two notes simultaneously using the second stylus?
ShokaLion 3 years ago
Yes - you have to have the 'reiteration' mode switched on for it to work, but it can be done.
tronfan66 3 years ago
Worth noting that, being a mono-synth, it doesn't genuinely play them together though...it's really just a very fast two note arpeggiator.

Does the 350s make the plain and classic stylophone sound?
artcoimbra 3 years ago
I wouldn't say that it's 100% identical to the classic Stylophone sound, but the 350s can make a fairly similar sound on one or two settings.

did the string ever break on those things lol?

Thanks, I just bought a 350s on ebay and I'm thinking of putting it through my M-Audio black box when my friend returns it.

I used some phasing from a Marshall Regenerator pedal which then went through a Boss DD6 Digital Delay pedal.
