Even the chassis is a shortened version of the Maserati GranSport's. The engine is the 4.7 liter Maserati V-8, that comes in the Maserati Quattroporte and the new GranTurismo.

Alfa even borrowed Maserati, some of the suspension and platform underpinnings, thats why the final assembly takes place at a Maserati factory.

Alfa could have spiced the engine in terms of horsepower, but that doesn't make it a Alfa Romeo engine.
