  • Nooooooo! Not the mountaindew!!!

  • you don't have to make that sound...

  • @PHolst1996 True. Just as you don't have to watch the vid, or type a response to it. ;-P

  • @Shadowhowler42 Still

  • @Shadowhowler42 Yeah, but him commenting about that doesn't make him sound or look like a complete retard. It only makes him an asshole.

  • flawless cutting technique 45 degree angel ad pinky and forefinger free a round of applause to you

  • Dude, dont cut the bottle, cut the timber instead!

  • this katana looks like a shinwa purple knight.

  • that was a waste of soda but good video

  • @Nerfdune I assure you, no soda was harmed in the making of this video. I would NEVER waste the Dew... the Dew was drunk and the bottles re-filled with water for the cutting. :-)

  • Are these swords full tang by chance?

  • @GrooveAnMove They are, very functional. The makers of those swords have come a long way with them since those two... they cost more now, but they are better products as well.

  • @Shadowhowler42 Thanks!!! I've been looking for a reasonably priced full tang Katana for a while now. The Martial arts supply stores only carry the crappy "made in a sweatshop" katanas now. A good full tang is worth the money. again, thanks.

  • @GrooveAnMove amazon has some full tang katanas for thirty... they have an edge so blunt you'd smash a stick of butter if you tryed to slice it... but if you dont mind sharpening it urself its a fair deal. 1065, 1045 carbon and 440b stainless all in full tang w/ dull edges, tho most blades you sharpen yourself or get done by a pro.

Ps. are made in sweat shops but full tang w/ wooden handle is just as practical, but not as pretty as higher quality katanas

  • @flufebunekilr

    hahaha @ the butter comment

& Sharpening doesn't mind me at all. I kind of like bonding with my weapons.

It's not that hard to sharpen a blade though...right?

last time I had to sharpen a blade was for a demo years back so I dont remember haha

But thanks for the great info man! appreciate it.

  • nnoooo why why did you do this to the dew i swear i shall have my revenge on you!!! or i could just go do something else... wonder whats on tv

  • Lols. I blink and suddenly the bottle explodes.

  • These two Katana were relatively cheap.... after shipping under 100 apiece. However the vendor that sold them has since increased the quality and price of their swords... so you could not get these anymore at that price. You should come join us at the Sword Buyers Guide Forums... a lot of friendly and knowledgeable people there could help you find exactly what you want at the best price.

  • Dude you hert the dew

  • @nelson91234 It had it coming... I've been drinking the Dew for 20+ years... and it made me fat... so I got my revenge. :-P

  • @Shadowhowler42 how much was that katana cause i want one and is it carbon steel

  • @joelicious1234 like 30 dollars. you can get a good one for 200$ or so.

  • I don't know why i love these videos so much

  • seems like someone likes mountian dew lol

  • I don't like kiais.

  • @RaiAntou Heh. That's ok... I heard them talking the other day, they don't like you either. ;-)

  • @Shadowhowler42 Agreed, I like kiais from sword though. =)

  • if the katana is any good, try a 2x4 and see what it can do.

  • You should try filling up a balloon with water and leaving it in the freezer so you get a large ball of ice. The longer its in the freezer the harder it will be. I used to do this for my swords and it was a lot more fun then cutting water bottles (which I also did).

  • Lol,. does he keep saying "DIE!" When he cuts them? its a funny noise. he must really be pissed with them.... "Die! how dare you do the dew!"

  • what did you pay for online for these swords?

  • Luke, im your father.

    -NOOOOOOOOOOO !

  • Ice, ice Baby!!!

  • a good katana can cut iron.. plastic bottles arent hard to cut.. if you know the cut technique.

  • Wow they cut plastic, I don't know anything in the world other than a katana that could do that.

  • @dotmadhack Heh. The two litter bottles when filled with water are harder to cut cleanly then you might think. They take on the mass of the water within, which can damage a poorly made blade. I bent the hell out of a badly heat treated Katana on a 2 litter bottle once. A well heat treated sword with a reasonably sharp edge of any style... Katana, longsword, scimitar, whatever... should cut the bottle fine.

  • @Shadowhowler42 I was being really sarcastic. No offense to you but really any well made blade could probably do the same thing. Nice katana's though. I have a few swords myself but they are mostly made for Theater fights.

  • @dotmadhack Absolutely right. Any well made blade should do the same thing. Thats the point. The video was made as part of a review I did on the swords for the Sword Buyers Guide. Most swords sold on Ebay are pure crap. Stainless steel cheapo blades not heat treated that will break or bend onder even light cutting like this, let along mats and bamboo. Thats why I reviewed them, to see if they were crap. As it turns out they are functional, tho beyond that not to impressive.

  • @Shadowhowler42 I COULDNT EVEN SEE THE SWORD

  • NOOOO!!! Not the mountain dew! It's innocent I swear! lol

  • DUDE! When you cut that mountain dew bottle i couldn't wee the sword?! You'r quick like a ninja!

  • is your katana balance ?

coz i feel so heavy to my new katana

  • Danm that is bad ass

  • do u h8 mountain dew?

  • @hps94 I wish! I love Mt. DEw a little TOO much, thats why I have so many bottles around, and a fat belly. :)

  • @ Shadowhowler42

Did you train in a school? It really looks like your pretty skilled with the sword there. I could barely see the sword in the first cut.

  • @AsAnAtheistFilms I trained in Martial Arts, but I have no training with Katana. The only Sword Training I have is fencing. I wish I could say how awesome I am, but the only reason the blade looks fast is because of the close up camera angle. If you watch some of my other vids, where you can see my whole body moving, you can see how lame I am. :(

  • did you happen to get that from brandon sword? for 39.99+40.00 shipping?

  • @ChAnDoN864430 No, these were from a seller called 'Huawei Sword'.

  • Well some one realy hates Mountain Due....

  • Heh heh! If only thatw ere true... my problem is I love Mountain Dew TOO much!!!

  • @Shadowhowler42 Other wise you wouldn't have the bottles to cut

  • Wow, i couldn't see the sword.

  • Hey that katana isn't real it does not have the lighter collar along the edge of its edge, after they place the clay on it

  • @FanimeParty What you are talking about is called a 'hamon'... its the result of differntial hardening using clay. These two actually have a VERY slight hamon -like area due to the way they were water quenched, but they were NOT made in the tradditional manner of japaness katana, no. They are reproductions.

  • @FanimeParty you are right bro and not a blade across the waves which indicates the handmade or something like thah

  • What is the grip made of? It looks like polystyrene... i guess it's not that.

  • @scopein79 traditionally it's made of samegawa and cotton thread

  • The tsuka (grip) is wood core with same (rayskin) peices and wrapped in cotton ito.

  • sorry but you sound like chuwawah

LOL there is no need for the noise.

  • You mean a Chiwawa? :P

Your right and your wrong... in MY case, there is no need for a kiai, as I am not traditionaly trained. Its sort of like when you go to a chiness resturant... there is no NEED to use chop sticks over a fork, but you do anyway, its part of the culture.

However, there are a LOT of reasons for the use of the kiai by those who ARE traditionaly trained, which I do not have time to go into here... but at least 2 of which are breath control and intimidation.

  • yeah i know theres a reason for it.

    just seems a bit silly.

  • @Shadowhowler42 how much were these swords. i am looking on ebay and the only alright looking ones are bettween 200 and 500

  • @LiAmBodYbOaRdS1 When I bought them they were only 60-80 bucks... but the seller I got them from dosn't sell anything quite that affordable anymore.

  • In kendo you do not utilise strength to strike but technique instead, "Kiai" is the way to unleach air and stored energy. The second reason is as you said intimidation and the third is "calling your hit" in order to show you know what you're doing. For instance...in kendo basic blows are, MEN (hit on the head), KOTE (hit on the arm) or DO (hit on the side of the torso). Thus you shout "men" when you are in the process of hiting the opponents head e.t.c

  • poor bottle

  • From this video, it doesn't look like the katana's are all that great. Yes I know they are crappy ebay katana's, but I am still dissapointed. They don't seem all that sharp.

  • Hm. Afraid I have to disagree with you there. They cut as well or better then some swords I have spent twice or even three times as much on. The cut mats as well, not just bottles, and performed well.

The fittings and the fit of the swords from this seller, however, is where they fell short. They were not put together very well. The blades themselves were quite sharp, paper cutting sharp, and decent.

  • Is that actual mountain dew or just water put in after it's already used? Would be a shame if you where cutting up real mountain dew that stuff is great.

  • Oh, I would NEVER waste Dew in such a fassion! Those are water filled. ;)

  • how much yu get them for

  • Hi, my name is Randy and I'm an Ebay addict. I've been on the wagon for only 8 days ( this time ! ) and my addiction sponsor is not available right now so DON'T SHOW ME THESE THINGS !!!

    LOL.

    Nice buys.

  • Almost all of my first katana were from that same guy on eBay. He has 5-6 stores selling all the same swords. Granted it's the same guy. Does he give you a choice of different tsuba and tsuka-ito at the bottom of the description? If so, same guy. Not bad swords, but not great.

  • He gives tsuba options, but not ito options if I recall correctly.

Customer service leaves something to be desired tho... one of the katana ended up having a cracked tsuka. You can see the full review on SBG.

The swords themselves are ok for the money. A Good option for people overseas where a 80 dollar mussashi becomes a 200 dollar mussashi.

  • good cutting shadow.

  • They are TH, but they have a quench hamon... kinda weird. The blades are very attractive tho.

I'm putting up the full review on SBG tonight, all info will be there.

  • I like the second katana, are they TH? Hook me up with a link to the ebay store.
