You should have casted the staff of worms on his corpse. There are so many glitches with the re-animate effect on the staff of worms. Get an NPC stuck in a closed door or closed trophy case to see, their bodies stretch and distort.

ok you guys i have the best glitch youll ever hear ever! beleive me it works! this glitch will let you get as mutch of anything you want. step#1 get bow and arrows equipted#2pull back the arrow#go to your equiptment menu and un equpityour arrows then drop whatever you want to multiply for instance a potion and resume and hundereds of potions with fly onto the ground! seriously IT WORKS
