This song (and most of the others on this CD) have the same vibe that IS GN'R and clearly show the Axl was always the driving force behind the band... Tracks 1 and 2 of the new CD sound nothing like GN'R (Chinese Democracy and Shackler's Revenge) but they aren't bad songs.... but the rest sound like guns all the way....

Slash was and always will be very simple in his approach to soloing eg improv based around the minor pentatonic scale whereas Bumblefoot and Bucketheads soloing display virtuosity using techniques and guitars tht Slash will never be able to master...Bumblefoot's perfect for the new guns...

Technical displays are almost entirely worthless without soul, and Slash has the latter in ample supply. Just consider Franz Liszt.

Tell me which solo on this album will be remembered a generation from now. Kids today still rock to solos by Slash in Sweet Child O' Mine, November Rain. Sweet Child is 22 years-old and the solo is legend.

Plenty of great and not so great solos are far better than these. Even the Beatles and Rolling Stones had some better ones, though simpler.

@Zeldovich Solos from the likes of Street Of Dreams and Catcher In The Rye deserve to but they won't coz the majority of people have damned this album because it doesnt have Slash - and even if Slash was in the band now, the solos woulnt work because the music he's soloing to is totally different and his particular style wouldn't fit..not sure if you play guitar or not but you have to appreciate the new gnr for wht they are - slash would be entering a totally different gnr from the 1 he was in

The solo in Street of Dreams is barely above average, and uneven. And Slash would be great in the band right now, ceteris paribus, because this music isn't all that different from older GNR. I think the more polished tracks are throwing you off.

Take Street of Dreams. It's easy to imagine this one on Use Your Illusion. The same is true of IRS, There was a Time, etc.

It seems that no one can get past the fact that guns has new members, and therefore are apparently determined to hate any newer incarnation of the band. You could have Jimmy page on guitar, mickey hart on drums, and Cliff Burton on Bass (I know he's dead, just illustrating a point), and people would still say the music sucks. Also, one thing that has not changed- Axl live never sounds as good as in the studio. And his vocals on the new album are awesome, he sounds just as good as he ever did....

I really dont mind the music of the 'New' guns n roses, as much as a die hard fan i am of the original, classic rock Guns n' roses, But it's the fact that he calls this guns n' Roses that annoys me and maybe other people. If this was Axl as a solo artist many more people would appreciate it. I agree - "Chinese Democracy" never could've lived up to all the expectations, but was still better than 95% of all the other mainstream crap that was out. Axl's just basically a very insecure but extremely talented guy. Plus, he'll be 50 next year, so he was nervous about being out of touch. Let's hope we're all still alive if & when he ever puts out another album!
