I dare anyone to try and find an album that spells out what the hells wrong with this species, and what we've done to ourselves, better than this, that does it without going "Hey, this is whats wrong with our species!"
There's a nice short vid of Ian MacKaye here on Youtube, explaining that he was in living in DC (a majority-black city), and was actually railing against racism.
Stargazer, you've got mckay all wrong. Guilty about being white is not a racist tune at all, its a bit ironic, check all the rest of his lyrics and you'll realise how fuckin fantastic fugazi are...
I love the name of the poster...cleaver....Like fugazi too, but not the racist shit , but then again , I'm not a skin head, actually a long haired, classically trained musician , who revears talent, above all else, ....yes I like Brahms, but fuck Jewish chicks, no idea about hatred, I guess I was lucky about who my parents were. Actually, okay, I hate skinheads, but I respet Fugazi, as long as he ain't bitching about being white, seems like a maturbational problem , with either him...or me.....
@zoomflesh I agree. This album in my opinion is not so much a departure but more of a "come down" from their previous material. A blunt, but mellow and personal conversation at the side of the stage, with the lights down, at the end of a show. The point is it is a different form of communication but with the same intent.
Sure man, nobody here's trying to dictate what they should or shouldn't do. And to me Fugazi is much more than just a punk band. I was just saying that with End Hits is a troubling listen for me, because it tries too hard to be experimental, it's not like Red Medicine where everything flowed neatly. At least in my opinion, of course.
By the way, that was meant to be :(. I'm not happy at the though of not hearing anything new from Fugazi! Anyway, this is the very first time I listen to The Argument, and I think it's kinda hard to get it, but to me Cashout and this song sound pretty solid. I've given it too few listens to it to express an exact opinion on it. Anyway I enjoy Red Medicine and Repeater a lot, and I have some trouble with End Hits, I think they got too far with that one.
I think this is Fugazi's way of saying goodbye. This album is, at times, poignant and creepy, and you deserve much praise for putting it on YouTube. I would love if they got back together to same some more great music, but I think that's not very likely :)
I honestly don't like this album too much. I mean it's just not my favorite Fugazi album. I hate the song structures of this album, and the lyrics, but at the same time I love this album. But I feel ya bro. Anything for my fellow Fugazians.
i think it's great. i love to hear the way they progressed over the years. i've been playing and writing and recording for 20+ years now and i go back and play or listen to my old stuff sometimes and then the newer stuff and one of the most fascinating things is how it changes. fugazi, the ultimate DIY band, always played music they wanted to hear before anything else, and it was always a reflection of who they were as artists. it wasn't ever just selling records to them. it meant something
@musiqqqqqq Its true, this album is entirely different from all the others. Nonetheless, this shit fucking rocks! I fuck with the lyrics hardcore--especially on "Oh". Rock on, Fugazi, rock on!
think radiohead may quite likely have been listening to these guys... just a tad :P

The final minute of this song is the greatest 1 minute of music you will ever hear.

Fugazi are really showing their Wire influence in this song... lyrically and musically I think this would fit comfortably into "Chairs Missing."

Guy Picciotto is great but I can't help but think that Ian Mackaye shouldn't of towed down to softer music....to me it doesn't fit.
Still I love it.
