  • Jimmy Smith's Hammond sounded the best to me in the 1980's. I don't mean the technique, which I love, but the actual sound of the organ. I see Goff on some of his equipment cases from this era so I wonder if Goff did some work on his organ or if it was rented out. I can hear it especially on the lower manual when he comps. Does anybody know about this?

  • what makes jimmy the greatest organist of all times and there will never be another, is his animations and love and respect for the monster, e demonstrates that every time he sits down behind the B. those grunts and gestures is love of the instrument. technically there are better organist ie.Larry Young.but Jimmy has the ability to give the voice of jazz and soul at the same time, no other can do that. Just think God listens to Jimmy everyday .....forever

  • The KING!!! Million*

  • Jimmy, Oscar P, Ella Fitz, and Fats Waller... Original Virtuosos! Each had outstanding proteges and immitators, but Ain't nothing like the real thing, especially when it's a designer's original. RIP JIMMY!

  • What a cool intro!!

  • amazing playing . I wish I had a Hammond, i have the B4 software version by Native instruments .Not like the real thing , but I suppose a carrot is as near as a rabbit gets to a diamond.

  • the grunts make it so much better

  • u know ur the masta when ur blowing minds and fixing ur tie at the same time lol, u gotta love jimmy

  • I love to listen to him but how much better is it to watch him perform at the same time with this? Thanks for posting.

  • see, JOS was a genius because he not only brought the Hammond out of the pulpit and into the pub-and hearts of jazz afficionados. He also discovered the ablity to carry melodies on higher tunes unique to the sound of the Hammond.;witness"I break the water sound"in the 1990s or the same technique in 70s on Midnight Special album. He believed ya gotta listen to the sound. He did, and invented a whole school(acid jazz). And he liked to rant about hip hip("What the hell they sayin? flip flop flum");Wow!

  • I love that leslie sound!!

  • this is the only Hammond player ever...! the incredible jimmy Smith...all notes are in the right place;-DDD VIRTUOSO!!!

  • What can I say but, this is amazing!!!
