  • TM is a money making scam... its almost identical to meditation in Hinduism, i.e the concept of focusing on a personal mantra. Im a HUGE advocate of meditation dont get me wrong, but TM gives itself a hugely inflated sense of self importance which it charges for when infact the same basic principles underlie every other meditation technique. Infact it misses out the good stuff that hiduism/taoism/buddhism etc have an abundance of. I reckon thats why howard aint a great guy still

  • @heheitsme23

Having practiced TM twice a day for 22 years I have to disagree with your stereo-typical views..

TM is the most well researched form of stress management technique available in the world. The Amercian Heart Association, and many other health-related organisations, fully endorse TM.

Google: "Scientific evidence that Transcendental Meditation works"

  • @Stoory

I know it works. However it works no better than Hindu meditation because its basically repackaged hindu meditation, but unlike hindu it charges for its services which is why i label i as a money making scam. Where TM is deficient compared to Hinduism is in its philosophy, hinduism has developed a rich existential philosophy over its time that TM lacks. This is not a stereotype, it is my view based on what I've read.

  • I actually have faith in the tm technique. There's too many scientific studies and celebs who endorse it to be so cynical. I kind of wonder though, why after that many yrs of meditation howard isn't a kinder person.

  • Howard Stern the biggest cynic does transcendental meditation... for 30 odd years!?! niceee

  • @MetrazolElectricity i don't really meditate, but i have done a fair bit of research of the subject. i do believe it can have some kind of positive effect on ones general outlook & worldview, just from the experience of blocking the bombardment of information that our brains have to process every day. just sitting down for 5 minutes a day and thinking as slowly as possible, removing useless thoughts, worries, likes & dislikes can improve mental health. but ye i agree w/ you it's an odd combo!!!

  • @MetrazolElectricity His mother was obsessed with kabala and all that bullSHIT, it seemed to have rubbed off on Howard.

Hes a very disturbed and sick man and has serious OCD and Mysophobia and alot of other deep rooted issues about his body (he is anorexic). He has an extremely low self esteem and the list goes on. I love Howard to death, Im a listener of his show and he regularly discusses his disgust of himself. No pun intended.

Its no miracle a man that broken reverts to rubbish to heal.

  • @mistervanderveer Well, if it heals then it's not rubbish by definition right? Its therapeutic :) For instance, if a cancer person "reverts" to chemo to heal. is chemo rubbish too? Now if you want to argue the effectiveness of TM, I believe Harvard Medical School's done research for a long time that indicates TM is healthful

  • @MetrazolElectricity No science has shown ANY form of mediation to have ANY beneficial effects besides mental ones. NONE not one serious study. Sure you have crap biased ones that say it helps, scientifically no evidence says it does. The statistics show average mortality rate, cancer rate, and just about every other illness including high blood pressure are virtually equal to those that live similar lifestyles, but do not meditate. Stop making things up. Lies dam lies and statistics.

  • @TheCasanovvaa That's right ,man. Those guys in white coats in ivy league science labs conducting painstaking experiments and analysis for decades and reaching a consensus are not serious. They're actually performers from disneyland. Also that bit about evolution , made up by immoral atheists. And global warming bit is just a liberal fad. The real gospel truth is locked up in the mind of TheCasanovvaa, dude. Yeah, tell it like it is ! All hail The voice of Reality! ;)

  • @MetrazolElectricity I am citing the Harvard study. Go read it they specially states that STATICALLY no change in any of those categories. NO CHANGE in average life span, NO CHANGE in cancer rates, NO CHANGE NO CHANGE NO CHANGE. The biased scientists I was referring to were those hired by the same companies/gurus that sell these mediation programs not Harvard.

  • @TheCasanovvaa I'm taking notes, boss. Keep talking, you're changing my mind.... lol

  • @TheCasanovvaa Wow it only has mental benefits??? So then it just isn't worth it! I mean if its only going to make your mind calmer so you can think more logically and make you mentally peaceful and happy..WHY BOTHER!!!! Sounds kinda silly doesn't it? Sorry but if you go into it thinking I shall cure cancer! Wrong way of thinking. If you go into it thinking I am clear minded and its helping me live a happier life then isn't that important

TM relaxes the mind, and the mind then relaxes the body, hence TM has been shown in many independent studies to reduce high blood pressure, and to help avert the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes, plus it reduces addiction to drugs, including nicotine and alcohol.

  • @popgrand212 Please tell me that you were kidding. Being calmer, more present in the moment and able to free yourself from the chattering of the monkey mind is no mean feat.
