1972-1977 they used to make transit buses! The Metropolitians (talk aboiut reviving a marque--rememebrt ehri predecessor Rambler's Metropolitan cars?) THose were the first more-than-two-speed auto. transd for US transit buses (Allsion V730) along with the GMC's using them (GMC IS the owner of Allison..)
(Of course, as some bus nuts know, Flyer in Canada had did the design and protype. Late,r ironically, in late 70,s both AM General Metropolitan and Flyer themselves would be prominent in USA!
