I have this song in my iTunes Library and have NO idead where I got it from. Can anyone tell me what "disc" it came off of so I can update my files/information?
I recently PERFECTED this song on guitar. I'm fifteen. I started learning it when i was about 13. Homework grades sacrificed. Worth it? Every second of it. BTW, to all you assholes out there, NO IM NOT BRAGGING. I am simply proving a point on how difficult this song is
@AceKennyA: That's fantastic. Have you checked out the original Bert Jansch and Davey Graham versions ("She moved through the Fair" and "Blackwaterside") upon which Page based his this song? You would be well served to spend the next two years learning "Angie" by Davey Graham and anything by Bert Jansch when he was with Pentangle. And, if you haven't already, check out Merle Travis, James Burton, Link Wray, Hubert Sumlin and Earl Scruggs as well. These were all huge influences on Mr. Page.
this song shows what a big genius jimmy page is , i think in this 10 years with Led Zeppelin ( greatest band walked on earth), he gives really every music he got inside , and Goddamm , HE had so much !!!! , i LOVE white summer/black mountain side
and since one week i swear to myself i play nothing else on my acoustic guitar till i got this BITCH of a PHANTASTIC composition , its BRILLIANT , its so absolute virtuoso !! thanx jimmy and led zep !!!
@ThrashRoC im about as crazy as you are about jimmy and zeppelin, but this song is essentially a cover of two songs "she moved thru the bizzare" by davey graham and black waterside by bert jansch. check em out! they were big influences in jimmys acoustic style. after all, if jimmy likes em, you can be pretty certain that youll like them too. =D
@killingj0ke23 Well not quite... Both tunes were TRANSCRIBED from TRADITIONAL FOLK SONGS
"She Moved through the FAIR" - Davy Graham (not Davey ;-)
&
Bert Jansch, who spent 2 years playing one-night stands in British folk clubs -a musical apprenticeship that exposed him to a range of influences, especially Anne Briggs, from whom he learned some of "his" songs (such as "Blackwaterside" and "Reynardine")
(been a fan of both for 40 yrs... info from record sleeves ;-)
@killingj0ke23 "She Moved Through the Fair" (or "She Moves Through the Fair") is a traditional Irish folk song, existing in a number of versions and which has been recorded many times.
(my favorite version would be Sandy Denny's with Fairport Convention)
The song was first collected in Donegal by poet Padraic Colum and musicologist Herbert Hughes, and published by Boosey & Hawkes in London in a work entitled Irish Country Songs in 1909.

@FriedChickenofDeath6 i am childish i can believe you in one full day 24hr no breaks complete but no breaks no practising and 12 hrs is going a bit far
@guitargod91000 No man, it's kinda easy. The song follows the same pattern through almost eight minutes. Once you get this pattern, you just need to remember the variations. You can try it and you can get it in one day too. Just practice until you fingers bleed and you nails come off :D
@Bsullytriplesix Same thing happened to me, haha. I got the intro down, almost perfect, then it speeds up and it's like I'm trying to learn twinkle twinkle for the first time.
@Bsullytriplesix That first part you were playing right there was a variation on the tune of "Over the Hills And Far Away," a Led Zeppelin great, if that helps.

@Finstahy Idk if this song is top 5 Led songs because it only showcases Jimmy Page's, although i think this is the song that really defines Jimmy and showed me how great he really is. I agree with Battle of Evermore in the top 5 tho that song is just pure amazing
