@joopsnoop This instructional video is made by the Shinkyokushin organizatin. Its thier word that this kata is nearly perfect, they wouldnt let some chump demonstrate it. Do you practice this style? If so, what level are you?
@LoganBruneau Okay, well the techniques are correct yes. But Yui Shihan is verry slow and no kime at all. He has nice stances and kicks so this why he is used for video. But he does not do much kata practice so not perfect at all!
Yes, I also do the Shinkyokushin. My grading not so important because what I say is same if I was white belt or 8th dan.
@joopsnoop Its difficult to tell if he has Kime just by watching the video. In any case, Karate needs respect, which means to not degrade a superior instructor's technique. When my master shows me something and I think his form is poor, I understand that this is only because he is just showing it to me, and I keep my mouth shut, and strive to make my own form better. That is the whole meaning begind the word osu.
@LoganBruneau Not so difficult really. I have spend 25 years grading examination people watching the kime, so it is something you see clear or not. Your attitude about your master showing you technique is very good. But Mr Yui is not master, just junior rank asked to do kata for video. Very few in Japan can do kata well, so he is the one choosed. I train with him many times and when this video made he was not so happy to be the one choosed.
This is good kata but done little sloppy and bad timing. Poor kime but good stances.
