  • The Constitution doesn't allow the govt to regulate marriage. Remove govt from anything to do w/marriage & uphold the constitutional position of separation of church&state. Any individual can be w/anyone they want, no one get any benefit just cuz being "married". If ur catholic & gay and wish to marry, that would be between you&the church. If ur not in any religion & wish to be w/ur life partner, you could do so w/no prob & the word marriage would never even come up if the govt's out of the way

  • The problem is that the no on prop 8 proponents are following an agenda of bullying and intimidation to force people to agree with their lifestyle...this is not the American way.

    This is my problem with the whole issue that these people are not following the democratic process they are more closely associated with terrorists, attacking those who were on public lists that donated and threatening them if they don't vote "their" way.

  • Once you couldn't marry a black person if you were white because they weren't considered "people". When the time came, the laws were changed. It never hurt any of you bigoted wangers. And neither will two women or two men who want to be allowed to have a ceremony and the right to visit their"spouses" in a hospital if they get sick or if they are dying.

  • The thing is that they do have the same rights as everyone else. They have the right to marry someone of legal age of the opposite sex just the same as everyone. No they are not asking for equal rights, they are asking to be treated different. They are asking for rights the rest of us don't have either. If I was bisexual should I have the right to marry my male and female sex partner or just one of them?

  • He was put on trial and convicted for helping suffering ,fatally ill people to commit suicide. I don't believe anything from the Buybull should be in our laws. Dr. K. has been called Doctor Death. He pointed out that we are still in some ways living in the Dark Ages. I think he did a great service to many people.   • Obama is for samesex couples, but said it should be up to the states on what to call it, but that gay couples should be allowed the same benefits as heterosexuals. I reckon he will propose some federal thing so that these rights are equal and only reason I think this is because he and his wife have fought for it before in Illinois. Still, there should be no benefits for marriage, or equal across the board. And no more tax breaks for religious groups because that is just stupid...

  • I think that is a great argument why Prop 8 should not be passed. Why are the religious beliefs of some dictating the laws, both moral and civil, of all? I myself, am a catholic, and my religion is fairly orthodox but my personal views are along the lines of free-thinkers. Even if I weren't so "liberal" with my personal views, I would still respect the seperation of church and state - clearly an American value the far-right, well it seems Republicans in general, have sadly forgotten.
