  • Keep it simple, just call it the id Tech engine. Here is a list of each engine's first game (or popularized >.>).

    iT1=Doom, iT2=Quake 2, iT3=Quake 3, iT4=Doom 3, iT5=Rage

  • @chinoto1 I'd refer to Quake 1 engine as idTech1 and Doom engine as idTech0 (if anything). Otherwise you're either skipping Quake1 and it's spin-offs like the original Half-Life completely, implying they use the Doom engine, or shoehorning them into a hypothetical idTech 1.5 which just sounds silly. Also, this way the Quake iteration matches the engine version (assuming we ever get a Q5 on idTech5).

  • @Nephatrine The engine of Doom and Quake are both known as id Tech 1, even though they are definitely different. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks it should be, that is what id Software decided. You brought up a good point though, I didn't realize they were separate engines with the same alias.

  • That's not the Quake 3 engine... How?

  • jesus christ

  • Cool:D It reminds me of that "Hunter" game :P

  • better than crysis :P

  • well the doom 3 engine is based on quake3 engine...

  • when will i see this in a game?

  • @DAGONLINUX In about a decade. :P

  • @DAGONLINUX Have you tried Crysis? It actually looks better imo.

  • @BudzMcgr33n Did you know this engine? It's actually from 1999. *owned* lol

  • @ukloi123 You must be dumb if you think this engine demo is from 1999 lulz

  • @BudzMcgr33n Nooo.. It's just "based" on the Quake-Engine. It's not the same like in 1999. I know it.

  • @ukloi123 COD Black Ops and World at War are also "based" on the Quake 3 engine. But it is a completely different engine from the original.

  • @BudzMcgr33n No, Call of Duty 4 - Black Ops are using the Doom 3 engine.

  • @ukloi123 You are so wrong. Do some research before you look dumb again.

  • @BudzMcgr33n The keyword is "BASED".

  • @ukloi123 Wrong!!!!

  • suck this raytrace. we have a winner !! and thats ofcourse xreal

actualy most realistic view (after cry engine 3) i have ever seen !

  • Are these shadows baked or real-time? I can sorta see them moving but I'm not entirely sure.

  • @DIVX54978 it's real-time shadowing.

  • @DIVX54978 If they are moving them they are real time, baked shadows has the name implies do not move has they are baked to the textures, so if the object casting them moved they would stay put. To resume if you see shadows moving them they ARE dynamic shadows (real time shadows).

  • look at all those jaggies. what is this, wolfstein 3d?

  • thats crazy for the quake engine, imagine if they did it on cryengine 3?

  • Wow that is pretty. Can I have it?

  • Very nice. also like the subtle vignette ;)

  • Can't wait to play Wolfenstein Enemy Territory with that engine =D

  • Fucking gorgeous. I'd love to experience this on 3 screens in 3D. Immerrrsssioonn.

  • HOLY CRAP!!! I can't believe that this is Quake3 engine.

  • Too crisp without global illumination.

  • @dpwiz I agree with you about the over-crispness. It might also be a lack of proper anti-aliasing on the objects and shadows.

  • Can't imagine ET looking like that, game that i have been playing 7 years finally getting a graphical update, been dreaming for years of this :D

  • Beautiful, Need to have Stalag13 background score and see muzzle of sten gun! XD

  • wow najs i like it ;)

  • This is still Quake 3, right!?

  • I used to think Cry Of Fear was candidate for greatest engine improvement, this one takes the cake.

  • :O amazing

  • bf:bc2 dev team can shave their asses!

  • This is nothing short of excellent. :D

  • I got poison ivy from watching that video...

  • Where is the chainsaw?

  • Massively impressive for something based on the Quake 3 engine. Well done.

  • @cb43569 That isn't really a valid argument as you could replace the entire rendering code of the Quake 3 engine..

  • @whattheima

    wtf is he arguing

  • Why aren't you strafe jumping?!

  • @topaboss Word!

  • As much as I hate to put any spotlight at all on dipshit Youtube trolls, AnonymousElektron's comment did spark a thought ... this really is impressive for something rendered in realtime. How long will it be before *intelligent* people start calling "fake" on everything, and real footage is suspect no matter how little opportunity there was to prepare a forgery, even when the suspected forgery is interactive with viewers? When everyone has this power on their desktop in realtime, what then?

  • @trippedbreaker Go home to Bel Aire

  • @AnonymousElektron Eat a dick

  • @AnonymousElektron They read me insultin' - they hatin'

  • Hot damn.

  • got dang
