They didn't TAKE a team, they already owned the team. NBA is a business, and like ANY business, you have to do what's most profitable. Seattle had chances to keep the team by upgrading their arena as was the agreement. They didn't hold up their part, so the team was moved to a city that already had an arena, and was more than willing to pay to upgrade it.

Well, Shultz put the team up for sale. Seattles franchise was up for grabs, and that was the one that Bennett wanted. And it's gonna prove to be the right choice. Now......if the league wants to let the Hornets come HOME, then you can have this team back. Honestly, our new team is gonna be better than the Hornets in a couple of years, but something about that Chris Paul dude, I think we still miss him. He's such a classy guy and a fuckin amazing player. We helped build them, it's a shame.

David Stern's final act of incompetence was allowing this to take place. Seattle is a great NBA market, much better than OKC. Stern gets so petulant any time a city refuses to immediately kowtow to demands for a new arena. I watched it happen in Houston, when Stern would show up once a month to do interviews threatening that the Rockets were going to Louisville if a new arena wasn't approved. Really made me hate him, and this sealed the deal. Dumb move for the NBA.

Seattle spark? What Seattle spark? Seattle had no spark, they hadn't experienced any spark since the 90's. The team was going nowhere there, the enthusiasm was gone, the fans grew less and less interested, the ownership sucked, and the arena was a total dump. It was time for a change, and OKC was a good choice. We're gonna be the ones to revive this franchise into a winner. The fan support is good, and the team has alot of potential once we get a few more pieces in place. OKC is here to stay.

Oklahoma is now officially a decent place to live, as OKC is blooming into a real metropolis. For years, I wondered why Albuquerque never got a team. It sounds good to have all Four Corners in the NBA. OKC and ABQ are comparable.
There's hope for the Thunder. Just look at the Baltimore Ravens. Since the move to Maryland, they've become one of the elite NFL franchises.
The Thunder is like the "new" Utah Jazz or Sacramento Kings. And when those teams are really good, those places are lively.

some of my best memories were goin to Key Arena and watching the Sonics wup the lakers or the blazers asses....to this day i still havent gotten over the fact that my favorite team in ALL of sports was taken from me. Clay Bennet should throw himself off a bridge!

They didn't TAKE a team, they already owned the team. NBA is a business, and like ANY business, you have to do what's most profitable. Seattle had chances to keep the team by upgrading their arena as was the agreement. They didn't hold up their part, so the team was moved to a city that already had an arena, and was more than willing to pay to upgrade it.

Well, Shultz put the team up for sale. Seattles franchise was up for grabs, and that was the one that Bennett wanted. And it's gonna prove to be the right choice. Now......if the league wants to let the Hornets come HOME, then you can have this team back. Honestly, our new team is gonna be better than the Hornets in a couple of years, but something about that Chris Paul dude, I think we still miss him. He's such a classy guy and a fuckin amazing player. We helped build them, it's a shame.

David Stern's final act of incompetence was allowing this to take place. Seattle is a great NBA market, much better than OKC. Stern gets so petulant any time a city refuses to immediately kowtow to demands for a new arena. I watched it happen in Houston, when Stern would show up once a month to do interviews threatening that the Rockets were going to Louisville if a new arena wasn't approved. Really made me hate him, and this sealed the deal. Dumb move for the NBA.

Seattle spark? What Seattle spark? Seattle had no spark, they hadn't experienced any spark since the 90's. The team was going nowhere there, the enthusiasm was gone, the fans grew less and less interested, the ownership sucked, and the arena was a total dump. It was time for a change, and OKC was a good choice. We're gonna be the ones to revive this franchise into a winner. The fan support is good, and the team has alot of potential once we get a few more pieces in place. OKC is here to stay.

Oklahoma is now officially a decent place to live, as OKC is blooming into a real metropolis. For years, I wondered why Albuquerque never got a team. It sounds good to have all Four Corners in the NBA. OKC and ABQ are comparable.
There's hope for the Thunder. Just look at the Baltimore Ravens. Since the move to Maryland, they've become one of the elite NFL franchises.
The Thunder is like the "new" Utah Jazz or Sacramento Kings. And when those teams are really good, those places are lively.

Say what you want about Key, fact is...when the renovations to the Ford Center are complete for the 2010 season, it will be so much better than the Key....Oh, wait a minute...my bad, the Ford Center is already better than KeyArena. The place is like 50 years old, and all it ever got was one damn renovation in it's entire existence. How pathetic.
